‘Class act’ Luke Humphries makes heartwarming gesture to bullied darts fan as he’s branded an ‘inspiration’

LUKE HUMPHRIES was branded an “inspiration” after making an heartwarming gesture to a bullied darts fan.

Alex McGarrie, 14, has been pulled from his school in Stockport after being repeatedly assaulted by groups of thugs for several years.

The teen has autism, which his parents say made him a target for cruel bullies whose attacks have left marks and bruises.

They told the Manchester Evening News that neither the police or Alex’s school have taken any action.

And the youngster, who is a major darts fan, has now been withdrawn from Hazel Grove High School after he was hit multiple times on video by other pupils.

But world champion Humphries has stepped in after hearing of Alex’s plight.

He was left upset after reading about the incessant bullying.

And Humphries has now made a heartwarming gesture to cheer Alex up.

The world No1 has offered to organise a meet-up of darts’ top players when the Premier League comes to Manchester on April 10.

Humphries has instructed the PDC to sort some tickets for Alex and his family.

And he wants the youngster to have a night to remember by linking up with stars including Luke Littler and Michael van Gerwen.

Humphries said: “I will speak to the PDC this week when in Cardiff and see if we can get him some tickets and a chance to meet all the players in Manchester, if that suits?

“No one likes a bully, hope he’s OK and send him my best wishes.”

Fans were left blown away by Humphries’ kind offer.

One said: “Class act, total respect, that’s exactly how a world No1 should be: an inspiration.”

Another declared: “You are a fantastic player and a class act, keep it up.”

One noted: “You are an absolute gent.”

Another added: “One of the classiest guys in darts.”
