“Cena is only gonna get more aggressive from here”: John Cena Reacting to Cody Rhodes’ Insult Hid a Subtle Hint That Hasn’t Happened in 25 Years

The world of pro-wrestling has been going crazy ever since John Cena decided to turn heel. When Cody Rhodes refused to join The Rock at Elimination Chamber, it was John Cena who sold his soul and what followed thereafter was carnage of the highest order.

More importantly, this was John Cena’s first heel turn in the last 25 years and that is exactly what has driven the world absolutely bonkers. Also, for the unversed, Cena has already embarked upon his farewell tour as announced earlier and it ends in 2025 for the Leader of Cenation.

With this sudden turn of his character, a few questions that have been predominantly doing the rounds in recent times is what would John Cena look like as a heel? Experts suggested that he might actually change his attire and take the look of a full-blown baddie. However, his latest appearance on WWE Raw has ensured that he will remain exactly where he was before joining hands with the Final Boss.

If there is one thing that the wrestling fans have seen over the years is that heels are a lot more belligerent than their usual babyface gimmicks. One might take Seth Rollins, Randy Orton, Dean Ambrose, and Stone Cold Steve Austin as examples. As babyfaces, they follow limits but as the villains of the company, they have always gone on unhinged rampage.

John Cena’s latest promo on WWE was loud and clear about the fact that he definitely doesn’t like the WWE fans. All that they have done over the years, has only enhanced Cena’s animosity towards them. However, the Leader of Cenation being a trained actor, possibly dropped a very subtle hint of what is to come for Cody Rhodes.

When Cody Rhodes interrupted John Cena in the middle of his promo, asking for the real Cena to come in front of him, there was a fine change on John’s face. The expression simply got a lot more sinister, as if insinuating the fact that the American Nightmare shouldn’t have asked for anything more.

Formerly, he had this inert nature of responding to his opponents with a tongue-in-cheek riposte or possibly by cutting them short. This is the first time, that he let his emotions do the talking. In fact a Reddit user also wrote that Cena would just get more aggressive from that point onwards on the road to WrestleMania.

That expression could simply mean that he soaked it all in to lay another assault on Cody Rhodes which he might not be ready for. John Cena being a famed Hollywood actor knows a thing or two about expressions. It’s not that he has just played heroes on screen. His roles in Suicide Squad and F9: The Fast Saga has already shown that he can be this complex character with the shattering capacity to render a bad guy if necessary.

The thing about John Cena and Cody Rhodes’ rivalry is that it won’t have any cryptic or enigmatic messages hidden. It will be one bloody and long road to WrestleMania 41 and given the preceding stature of both the superstars, Cena might not hesitate to go all guns blazing on Cody Rhodes. The attacks might start from the locker room and might end up in the ring. With The Rock in the mix, one can only expect this story to go dark to darker.

What was John Cena’s latest promo about?

John Cena went all guns blazing with the microphone in his hand, calling out the WWE Universe loud for their hatred towards him. He made it clear that ever since he has set foot in WWE, he had only been hated by the fans, which wasn’t the case for sure. However, there was a point in time when the WWE Universe wanted him to turn heel because of the boring storylines that followed.

This new promo from John Cena egged on the fans to go on louder with their jeers and catcalls. In fact, once Cena was done with his promo, a few fans online even claimed that the Leader of Cenation might have copied his first heel speech from Roman Reigns’ explanation back on his heel turn. Whatever it was, the fans got the message loud and clear that there was a new baddie on the block and he was here to stay.

As the storyline goes, John Cena will be taking the yard against Cody Rhodes in WrestleMania 41 with an eye on what can be his 17th title win which will place him on a pedestal that no one else has seen. He now shares the world record of the most WWE titles with Ric Flair as they both have 16 to their names. However, whatever may the consequence of the fight is, it goes without saying that we are warming up for something massive.
