Celtic’s Green Brigade ultras in fresh anti-Rangers fan abuse as they graffiti train and show off haul taken from rivals

CELTIC ultras the Green Brigade have covered a second train in graffiti ahead of Sunday’s Old Firm match – this time including an offensive slur aimed at Rangers fans.

Images shared on the North Curve social media account – associated with the Green Brigade – show them painting a train as it sat idle at a station.

Another image showed a number of items of paint and tags apparently taken from rival Rangers ultras the Union Bears.

The words ‘F*** Huns’ are spray painted on the train, with the images on the social media account captioned with the words: “This is our city – these are your colours.”

That’s a reference to another Scotrail train, sitting idle in Larkhall station, which was daubed in green and white during the week.

Those images were shared with the words: “This is our city – these are our colours.”

The latest came as Police Scotland announced ramped up powers to force cops to reveal their identities ahead of Sunday’s Old Firm powder keg.

Officers will have extra stop and search powers – including the right to unmask yobs – in a bid to prevent the shameful scenes that blighted December’s League Cup final.

David Kennedy, secretary of the Scottish Police Federation, said: “If the troublemakers know cops have the power to remove their masks the hope is the trouble won’t happen.

“It will make things better for the public and give the police more power to deal with people who potentially look as if they are going to be involved in trouble.

“They will be able to deal with those people who are hiding behind masks and all the things they use to hide their identity.”

Rival ultras nailing their colours to the mast on Scotland’s transport network is hardly a new thing.

Back in September 2024, Hoops ultras struck on another Scotrail passenger train, daubing their colours on it on the morning of the 3-0 win with British Transport police launching an investigation.

Back in December 2023, a bridge over the M8 motorway was daubed with red, white and blue paint – with the colours remaining visible for months afterwards.

And these latest acts of vandalism come after Celtic hit out at members of their support for displaying unauthorised banners’ in a statement.

Hoops officials did not pinpoint the specific displays which defied their protocols but say they “share the concerns” made by some of the club’s own supporters.

The statement came after police confirmed they were probing a recent display which honoured IRA terrorist Brendan ‘Bik’ McFarlane during a minute’s applause for ex-Hoops player Evan Williams.

They insist displays “should support the team, or otherwise celebrate Celtic, and be consistent with the terms of the Celtic Social Charter, Social Mission Statement” and admit some recent banners have not been submitted for pre-approval.

A statement, posted on the club website this evening, said: “Celtic Football Club shares the concerns communicated by our own supporters regarding the use of banners at recent matches.

“Celtic is an inclusive football club open to all, with no political agenda, as is clear from the Club’s Social Charter and Social Mission Statement, and no group of supporters, or any other organisation, speaks on behalf of Celtic.”

The British Transport Police have been contacted for comment.
