Sara Sharif’s evil dad ‘under protection of Muslim gang’ in Monster Mansion prison after tuna tin lid attack in cell

SARA Sharif’s killer dad is being protected by a Islamist gang in a jail dubbed Monster Mansion, insiders claim.

Vile Urfan Sharif – who is also Muslim – has been shielded by extremists who are protecting him due to their shared religion, it is alleged.

We told last month how Sharif, 43 – who is serving life for torturing and killing his 10-year-old daughter – had been “cowering” in his cell after being slashed by a con using a jagged tuna tin lid at his previous jail, Belmarsh in south London.

But a tough gang of Muslim lags – including terrorist inmates – at Category A Frankland, County Durham, have “put the word around” that no-one should attack Sharif or they will take revenge, according to insiders.

A source said: “Sharif has not been touched at Frankland – and it is largely down to this Muslim gang.

“They are on the same wing as him and they have put the word around that he is not to be touched.

“They’ve said that anyone who tries anything will have them to deal with.

“It is warped but they have said that what went on in Sharif’s house was a ‘family matter’ and they think it should not have ended up in the courts.

“They are aware he is a Muslim, so as far as they are concerned is one of them and deserves protection.

“They are a fairly small gang, with only about eight of them, but they are pretty fearsome and known to stick together.

“Some of them are lifers do they don’t have a lot to lose – and no-one really wants to cross them.

“The guards are keeping a really close eye on him after what happened at Belmarsh.”

Sharif has spent most of his time locked in his cell at Frankland, and is usually escorted by prison officers when he takes exercise or goes for food.

He has grown his hair and lost weight so that he is “painfully thin”, our source said.

Frankland is dubbed Monster Mansion as it houses killers including Levi Bellfield, Ian Huntley, ex-cop Wayne Couzens and Mark Dixie, who murdered Sally Anne Bowman.

Other inmates include Lee Rigby killer Michael Adebolajo, terrorist Dhiren Barot and Sean Mercer, who shot 11-year-old Rhys Jones.

Sharif was moved there after he had his throat and face slashed with the jagged tuna tin lid on New Year’s Day at high-security Belmarsh.

He was left bloodied and battered and was treated in the healthcare unit at Belmarsh.

Former prison governor Ian Acheson – who led a government review on extremism in jails – has described Frankland as having “ideological and criminal gangs” competing to control wings there.

Sharif was caged last December alongside Sara’s stepmum Beinash Batool, 30, and uncle Faisal Malik, 29, after an Old Bailey trial that horrified Britain.

The trial heard Sara suffered multiple internal and external injuries and was made to wear a hijab to cover them up.

In a two-year campaign of abuse, Sharif throttled schoolgirl Sara, and hit her with a cricket bat and metal pole – sometimes tying her hands and legs together with parcel tape.

She was also bitten and burned with an iron.

Police found her body in her bunk bed at the family home in Woking, Surrey in August 2023.

Sharif left a note confessing to the killing next to her – but then fled to Pakistan with Batool and Malik. They were later brought back to the UK after an Interpol operation.

Sharif – who initially blamed Sara’s injuries on Batool at trial – was found guilty of murder and handed a minimum 40-year term.

He was held at Belmarsh, alongside Malik – but was moved after being slashed.

Frankland Prison – formerly home to Yorkshire Ripper Peter Sutcliffe – holds more than 800 dangerous lags, including many who will never be released.

A Prison Service spokesperson declined to comment.

Two men, 39 & 31, plead guilty over roles in ‘highly professional’ drug trafficking op after €157m cocaine seizure

TWO men have pleaded guilty one week into their Special Criminal Court trial, which heard they were part of an international drug trafficking operation that resulted in the largest seizure of cocaine in Irish history.

Iranian Saeid Hassani, 39, and Filipino Harold Estoesta, 31, today pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine for sale or supply on board the MV Matthew.

The Panamanian registered ship was carrying 2.2 tonnes of the drug, worth an estimated €157 million, when it was boarded and taken over by members of the Irish Army Rangers.

Hassani and Estoesta were the last of a group of eight defendants charged in relation to the seizure to plead guilty, with six co-accused previously entering pleas before their trial at the three-judge, non-jury court.

The charge to which Hassani and Estoesta pleaded states that between September 24 and September 26 2023, at a location outside the State, on board the MV Matthew, they had cocaine for sale or supply in contravention of the Misuse of Drugs Act and that the market value of the drug exceeded €13,000.

Sean Guerin SC, for the Director of Public Prosecutions, said the pleas are acceptable “on a full facts basis”.

Ms Justice Melanie Greally remanded both men in custody to February 24th when the court intends to fix a date for their sentencing hearing.

Earlier this month four men pleaded guilty to a similar offence.

They are Ukrainians Mykhailo Gavryk, 32 and Vitaliy Vlasoi, 32, Iranian Soheil Jelveh, 51, and Dutch national Cumali Ozgen, 49.

Ukrainian national Vitaliy Lapa, 62, with an address at Rudenka, Repina Str in Berdyansk and Jamie Harbron, 31, of South Avenue, Billingham in the UK have also pleaded guilty to attempting to possess cocaine for sale or supply between September 21 and September 25, 2023 in relation to the same shipment.

Opening the trial last week, Mr Guerin said the State’s case was that the two men played an “essential part” in a “very sophisticated and highly professional international drug trafficking operation”.

The court heard that while the MV Matthew was sailing under the flag of Panama, it was owned by a Dubai-based company known as ‘Symphony Marine’.

It departed from Curacao, off the Venezuelan coast and sailed across the Atlantic before arriving in Irish territorial waters.

Evidence would show how the cargo ship attempted to evade capture but was followed “in hot pursuit” by the navy patrol vessel LE William Butler Yeats.

CONCEALMENT OF ACTIVITIES

The chase concluded when members of the Army Rangers were inserted by the Air Corps and took control of the vessel.

The prosecution case against the two men was that they were directly involved in the physical possession of the drugs by the role they had played as ship’s officers.

Mr Guerin said there would be evidence that the men had given direction to others in the preparation for the physical transfer of the drugs from the MV Matthew onto a fishing boat named The Castlemore.

The State alleged that both accused were in a Deck Officers WhatsApp messaging group.

The case against them related to communications about the transportation of the drugs and the concealment of those activities from others.

Last week, the State called evidence that they said showed Estoesta was also involved in a group effort to disguise the vessel’s true position on the seas.

Urgent warning for shoppers as alert issued over popular crisps sold at Dunnes Stores and Supervalu

AN urgent warning has been issued to shoppers over popular crisps sold at Dunnes Stores and Supervalu.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland said there was undeclared milk in specific batches of Boundless Sour Cream and Onion Flavour Chips.

This could make the product unsafe for those who are intolerant to milk or dairy.

Anyone with such dietary requirements is advised not to eat the crisps.

The pack size of the affected product was 80g and the batch codes are 31724, 32424, 34624, and 34724.

Those who have already bought the item should be aware that those intolerant to milk should not consume them.

Only those who do not have a dairy allergy should eat the crisps.

The crisps are sold in both Supervalu and Dunnes Stores, so frequent shoppers should be aware.

The supermarkets are likely to pull the items from the shelves if they have them in stock.

The FSAI said: “The following batches of Boundless Sour Cream and Onion Flavour Chips contain milk which is not declared in the list of ingredients.

“This may make the batches unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of milk.”

Meanwhile, Lidl has recalled a batch of Alpenfest Style Salted Mini Pretzels Milk Chocolate.

And they have recalled the same product in a dark chocolate version.

It came after fears that the chocolate could leave a “burning sensation” in the mouth.

The affected batch was the 140g bags, which have now been pulled off shelves.

The batch code for the item is 8509.

Consumers have been urged not to eat the affected batch of chocolates.

Retailers have been advised to issue point of sale notices.

In a message, the Food Safety Authority said: “Lidl is recalling the above batch of its Alpenfest Style Salted Mini Pretzels Milk Chocolate and Alpenfest Style Salted Mini Pretzels Dark Chocolate as it may cause a burning sensation in the mouth when consumed.

“Recall notices will be displayed at point-of-sale.”

Newcastle star Jacob Murphy, 29, approached over shock switch of international allegiance from England

JACOB MURPHY has reportedly been approached about switching his international allegiance.

The 29-year-old winger is enjoying an impressive season for Newcastle in the Premier League.

The Toon winger has already registered 9 assists this season[/caption]

Murphy has scored five times for the Toon so far in 2024/25.

He also leads the club’s assists charts with nine, already a career-high tally with three months of the season to go.

There have been suggestions England manager Thomas Tuchel should call up Murphy for his first Three Lions squad.

Murphy played for England across four youth age groups, with his last involvement in the under-21 Euros in 2017.

But according to reports in Nigeria, Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has “made contact” in a bid to get Murphy to switch allegiance.

The former Norwich star qualifies to play for Nigeria through his father.

Nigeria have endured a tough start to their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign.

The Super Eagles had been expected to cruise through a group that features South Africa, Rwanda, Benin, Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

FOOTBALL FREE BETS AND SIGN UP DEALS

But three draws and a defeat from their opening 4 games have made things tough for the African country, who have reached six of the last seven World Cups.

As well as Nigeria, Murphy is eligible to represent Ireland through his mother.

Murphy has proved to be an unsung hero this season at St James Park.

Newcastle are chasing the European places, with striker Alexander Isak stealing the plaudits thanks to a remarkable run of form.

Boss Eddie Howe has come out to praise Murphy – and claims Isak’s heroics are in part down to the winger.

Howe said: “He’s been very, very important and probably more than people realise.

“We ask a lot of Jacob in lots of different ways, he plays an important role.

“Of course, everyone plays an important role in our pressing with the ball.

“He’s been brilliant and the assists and the goals that he’s got in the last few weeks.

“Isak probably owes him the majority of his goals with his crossing ability which has always been very strong.”

Hit Noughties film starring Keanu Reeves finally lands a sequel 20 years after original – director promises it’s ‘close’

A HIT Noughties film that starred Keanu Reeves finally lands a sequel after 20 years and the director promises it’s ‘close’.

Keanu’s John Constantine set for a sequel as he converses with the film’s director[/caption]

But patient Constantine fans have waited 20 years for a sequel and it now looks like its on the horizon.

The Francis Lawrence-led film (2005) saw Keanu take on the role of John Constantine, a detective who has the ability to spot angels and demons hidden among humans.

It received mixed reviews from critics but it garnered a huge cult following in the years following its release.

Now, in a recent interview with Josh Horowitz, Keanu and Francis openly discussed the idea of a sequel.

Francis said there was a ‘real possibility’ of it happening after Keanu told Stephen Colbert in 2021 he’d happily return to the role.

Francis explained: “And I think this thing sort of spread, and finally convinced some people that have some control ‘Hey, you know what? Maybe this isn’t a bad thing’.

“I think it’s the combination of that and the sort of growing cult following of the original film over the years that have got people thinking like, ‘Okay, we can do this’,

“Even if it happens to be sort of outside whatever a DC plan is for the other material that there is a version of my Constantine, Akiva’s Constantine, Keanu’s Constantine, together that’s outside of that.

“We have finally gotten to the place where we now have the permission to go down that road.

“And Akiva is writing, and Keanu and Akiva and I have been collaborating.

“And I think we have some really, really great ideas that we’re super, super excited about.

“And I think we’re pretty close on having an object that is really workable.

“And I haven’t felt this excited about the project, and this excited about how real it could be in the 20 years since we made the first one. So it has real possibility.”

Keanu added: “Just reaffirming just how great it is to collaborate with Francis and Akiva on it.

“It’s just fun to be in the same room and talk Constantine.

“Yeah, just everyone riffing and just, you know what Akiva and Francis have come up with, and the ideas.

“I’m aching to play this guy.”

During the interview Francis showed off a mega ‘Holy Shotgun’ prop which featured as a weapon in the original film.

“Keanu had the prop department make me a real brass.

“But this thing must weigh 30 pounds.” he laughed.

Beloved car garage forced to CLOSE as owner left ‘completely broken’ by parking row that’s made business ‘unviable’

A man stands in front of Mount Street Garage, a gas station and car repair shop.
Tony Evens

A POPULAR car garage is being forced to close following a longstanding parking row, which has left the owner “completely broken”.

Tony Evens, who has run Mount Street Garage, in Bishops Lydeard, Somerset, for the last 20 years, has been forced to shut up shop after a parking row escalated and left him with fines of £400.

The Village Hall car park has space for up to 70 cars but has now enforced parking restrictions which are affecting Tony’s business[/caption]

The mechanic has parked customer cars that are awaiting collection in the car park across the road for years but the Village Hall Committee, who own the car park, is no longer allowing cars to be parked there.

They have since erected ANPR cameras in the car park, resulting in Tony’s customers receiving fines on their cars.

Despite numerous back and forth with the committee, the situation has not been resolved and now Tony says he’s done.

The mechanic, who suffers from high blood pressure, told The Sun: “I’m done, they have jeopardised my business and they don’t seem to care. I’ve had to close the workshop because of this and I am broken.”

“I was hoping for a little bit of support from them. They are ripping out the heart of the village. The butcher has gone, the hardware store has gone, the post office has gone and now the workshop.”

“I’ve had to make the decision to shut the workshop and lay off staff. There’s no one left, just me and my friend. I have closed it and I’m not taking on anymore business and I will be physically closing it this Friday.”

‘ABSOLUTELY BROKEN’

Tony claims he spoke to a member of the committee last year warning them that the cameras would have a knock on effect on his business but was allegedly told: “It’s happening so deal with it.”

He said: “They don’t seem to see the bigger picture. They have the funny idea that people are parking in the car park and catching the bus.”

“I am absolutely broken, all the fight has gone from me now, I’m normally a fighter but this has broken me.”

“It wouldn’t be so bad if I didn’t do so much for them over the years. I’ve never charged them, I’ve just fixed things for them in the community spirit, which they don’t seem to have.”

“I’ve paid rent ever since I’ve been there… so it is not as if I’m not paying my dues.”

A concerned member of the town has since written into the Somerset Country Gazette, expressing her upset over the whole situation.

Tara Morris has called for the committee to show some “flexibility” to a “hardworking business owner” and find a “pragmatic solution”.

According to the garage’s Facebook group, the garage offers MOTs and servicing, batteries, tyres and bodywork, as well as having a well stocked shop.

Last July, Tony shared a post on the page, warning the community about the car park restrictions.

He wrote: “Just a heads up… the village hall car park is being fitted with amp cameras, so now one is allowed to park for more than 5 hours at any one time. If this is the case, it will directly affect my business and may force me to close, as unfortunately this is unworkable.”

‘ALL THE FIGHT HAS GONE FROM ME’

Residents responded in support of Tony, with one saying “this is absolutely ludicrous and totally unnecessary”, while another said “sounds like a jobs worth on the committee”.

Four years ago, Tony’s garage made headlines after he awarded one of his mechanics a special gift to celebrate an impressive stint working at the garage.

Graham Moore, 78, worked at Mount Street Garage for 63 years and Tony gifted him a sundial to mark the milestone.

At the time, Mr Moore told Somerset Country Gazette: “I have known Tony since he was a boy, he was my apprentice. He always told me he wanted to get me something but he didn’t know what and then he came up with this and it was lovely.

Mr Moore has since spoken out about the workshop closing, telling Tony he is “cutting off a piece of my life”.

When approached for comment, the Village Hall Committee said: “We have done all we can to accommodate the garage’s needs.”

They explained that restrictions are enforced due to the fact that “for some time, the VHMC had been concerned about the amount of ‘unauthorised all-day parking’ taking place within the hall’s car park. This resulted, on occasions, with no parking spaces for genuine hall users.

“It was decided to solve this problem by employing Car Park Management to install and operate a car parking system based upon an ANPR camera.”

Under the restrictions, cars cannot park overnight between midnight and 7.30am and car parking is restricted to a maximum of five hours.

Their exemptions do include a mention of Mount Street Garage, stating: “Mount Street Garage will be able to electronically authorise and implement an exemption from these restrictions for their customer’s vehicles for one day only between 07:30 and 19:00 for 7 days a week.”

But Tony maintains that these e-permits are not sufficient enough as some of his customers are not able to get back to collect their cars within the parking window, especially if they work out of the area.

He said: “I’ve had customers come to me for simple work, their car is then parked in the car park and they get a £100 fine because they haven’t been able to collect it in time. They then come to me and say they’re taking their car somewhere else because they don’t want another fine. So it has a knock on effect on my business.”

Discussing what’s next for him, Tony said: “I’ve now got to circle the wagons and see where I go from here. I’ve had the plot on the market for a very long time but no one has taken an interest. I might have to look at making the shop bigger instead.

“It’s a very sad day, the garage has been here since 1908 and it is one of the longest and oldest garages in the area.”
