Scots cop ‘caught with cocaine’ at major darts event won by teen star Luke Littler charged

A COP faces a drugs charge after he was allegedly caught trying to take cocaine into a major darts event won by teen sensation Luke Littler.

The serving Police Scotland detective is said to have been rumbled after security staff allegedly found a bag of gear in his jacket pocket during a search at the Premier League Darts event at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow.

The officer – believed to be stationed in the city’s Cathcart – is said to have run away from the arena after the discovery last Thursday night.

It is claimed security staff were initially willing to ban him from the darts but ended up calling the police when it emerged he was an off-duty cop.

Senior detectives then went to the officer’s home the next morning.

It is claimed he also failed a drug test and has since been suspended by the force.

A source said: “He was due to start in a new station elsewhere in the city but that’s obviously been scrapped now.

“A lot of people are very  surprised at what’s happened.”

The force has confirmed the officer will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal for an alleged drug offence.

It is believed he could then face a gross misconduct hearing and potentially be made to resign from the force.

Police Scotland’s Professional Standards Division (PSD) are able to carry out drug tests on officers “with cause” when they have reason to believe a serving cop has been taking drugs.

Figures released by the force in 2023 showed they requested 24 drug tests since 2018, with just nine testing positive for cocaine.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 32-year-old man will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with a drugs possession offence in the Glasgow area that took place on Thursday, 13 February, 2025.”

It comes as darts fans were issued a warning about their rowdiness after revellers in Glasgow started whistling and booing at players.

Officials were forced to intervene and demand the crowd stop jeering at those taking part in the competition.

A PDC spokesperson said: “Every player goes on stage with the intention of performing to the best of their ability and providing an entertaining spectacle for all fans, whether in the venue or watching worldwide.

“As per the terms and conditions of entry to events, spectators who act inappropriately can be removed from the venue.

“The vast majority of fans who attend our sell-out events on a regular basis also condemn this behavior and we will continue to promote a positive atmosphere which gives all players the opportunity to play to the best of their ability in every match.”

Despite the crowd distractions, champion teen Littler defeated world number one Luke Humphries 6-5.

Urgent ‘do not use’ warning for 17 Hotpoint and Indesit appliances over gas leak and risk of fire

HOTPOINT and Indesit have urgently recalled 17 essential kitchen appliances over serious safety concerns.

A fire risk has been identified in several models of freestanding gas cookers from both brands, prompting the recall and a safety warning to customers.

All oven affected were produced between October 25 and November 22, 2024

Shoppers who have recently purchased one of the 17 affected models are being advised not to use the product at all.

Hotpoint has explained that the recall is due to a potential issue with the O-rings, which may wear out prematurely, leading to a gas leak from the lid shut-off valve.

If the gas leaks and is ignited, this may cause a fire, burns and injuries.

Hotpoint said on its website: “We have been made aware of a third party supplier component issue in a small number of Hotpoint and Indesit branded gas cookers which has resulted in a safety concern.

“If you own one of the affected models, you must not use it.

“We will arrange to send an engineer to replace the affected component. That appointment will take approximately one hour.

“We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience that this may cause but please rest assured we are doing all we can to resolve the issue quickly for affected customers.”

All oven affected were produced between October 25 and November 22, 2024.

You can check if your cooker is affected by looking for the model number on the label inside your oven.

OTHER PRODUCT RECALLS

Product recalls are common practice among retailers with items pulled from shelves for a host of different reasons.

In most cases, products are pulled because there is a safety risk to customers.

You can read more about your rights concerning a recalled product in our guide.

Earlier this week, Matalan recalled an Easter homeware product over fears it could cause an eye injury.

The homeware and clothing store has pulled its Bunny Tumbler cups from shelves as the product does not meet its standards for product safety.

Customers who bought a Bunny Tumbler are being urged to not use the product and return it to their nearest store.

Shoppers have also been warned to unplug various Toshiba laptop adapters after safety concerns were raised.

The affected tech are adaptors marked 2502-0032 with a DC-in plug used to charge laptops.

It has been discovered some of the gadgets can “overheat and spark” which causes “risk of fire and burns”.

They do not meet the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 requirements.

Anyone who owns the faulty laptop adaptors are urged to “unplug them immediately”.

Your product recall rights

Chief consumer reporter James Flanders reveals all you need to know.

Product recalls are an important means of protecting consumers from dangerous goods.

As a general rule, if a recall involves a branded product, the manufacturer would usually have lead responsibility for the recall action.

But it’s often left up to supermarkets to notify customers when products could put them at risk.

If you are concerned about the safety of a product you own, always check the manufacturer’s website to see if a safety notice has been issued.

When it comes to appliances, rather than just food items, the onus is usually on you – the customer – to register the appliance with the manufacturer as if you don’t there is no way of contacting you to tell you about a fault.

If you become aware that an item you own has been recalled or has any safety noticed issued against it, make sure you follow the instructions given to you by the manufacturer.

They should usually provide you with more information and a contact number on its safety notice.

In some cases, the manufacturer might ask you to return the item for a full refund or arrange for the faulty product to be collected.

You should not be charged for any recall work – such as a repair, replacement or collection of the recalled item.

‘Very odd behaviour’ – Darts star loses leg and gives opponent death stare at World Seniors Championship

A DARTS star gave his opponent a death stare after losing a leg in the World Seniors Championship.

Graham Usher produced a bizarre moment after his opponent Leonard Gates won the second leg of the fourth set.

Two darts players on stage during a match, with a scoreboard showing the score.

Gates hit double top to move within one leg of the set and then stepped back to the oche to start the third leg.

Usher took up the position first and decided to stare down Gates as the American prepared to take his shot.

Gates looked into space in the opposite direction as Usher finally relented and moved away from the oche after a few seconds.

If it was an attempt at mind games by Usher it may have worked as Gates failed to win another leg.

Usher turned the set around and won it 3-2 to secure his victory, with Gates missing six darts at double in the final set that would have seen him level up the contest.

Fans were left perplexed by Usher’s behaviour with some criticising his actions.

One reacted saying: “Strange behaviour.”

Another added: “Poor attitude that Usher character. Weirdo.”

A third wrote: “What am I missing here? Very odd behaviour.”

And another commented: “He came across as an absolute clown in that match. I don’t have much time for Leonard Gates, but he seemed completely unaware of anything going on. It looked like Usher invented an issue just to get himself fired up.”
