French criminal known as ‘The Fly’ finally caught nearly a year after jailbreak that saw prison officers shot dead

A WANTED convict known as “The Fly” has finally been caught almost a year after he was broken out of prison in a deadly police ambush.

Fugitive Mohamed Amra had been on the run since May after a horror jailbreak which left two innocent French officers dead.

The “highly dangerous” inmate was freed by four gunmen who stormed a cop convoy and slaughtered the officers “like dogs“.

Amra, who was nicknamed The Fly because “he is everywhere”, managed to evade capture since his escape after fleeing France.

France even tasked more than 300 investigators to hunt him down as they requested an Interpol red notice hoping for foreign assistance.

Amra was finally arrested in Romania on Saturday, according to the country’s interior minister Catalin Predoiu.

The gangster was arrested in the capital of Bucharest and is now due to appear before a magistrate in the city.

Predoiu praised officers who “located, identified and captured him within 48 hours of receiving information”.

French interior minister Bruno Retailleau also to X to confirm the successful capture as he said: “I congratulate all forces which made Mohamed Amra’s arrest in Romania today possible.

“A warm thank you to Romania for its decisive cooperation.”

President Emmanuel Macron hailed Amra’s capture as “a formidable success”.

A relieved Prime Minister Francois Bayrou added that Amra was arrested “finally”.

Amra, in his early thirties, has a rap sheet of thirteen convictions and currently faces counts of both murder and attempted murder.

Cops allege he also ordered a mafia style execution in Marseille in 2022 after police sources claimed he has ties to Marseille’s notorious “Blacks” gang.

In the weeks before his planned prison escape the government labelled him as “public enemy number one”.

A source with knowledge of his criminal history once said: “Amra is nicknamed the fly, because he’s everywhere, like an annoying fly.

“He’s been arrested for everything from robbery and burglary to numerous crimes against the person.

“He’s a classic street criminal, and just the type who revels in a nickname. I’d suggest he like to hang around human waste products too, which also makes him like a fly.”

FATAL JAILBREAK

Last May, Amra managed to escape from police custody when he was being driven back by a police convoy from a courthouse at Rouen to Everuex prison.

Shocking video captured the moment four armed attackers closed in from all sides on the police cars.

A black SUV then smashed headfirst into the first police vehicle, and crushed two others behind it into a line.

The four gunmen then emerged from the crash site, clad head to toe in black, complete with gloves and hoods.

Spraying the convoy with bullets, they managed to free Amra before setting off an explosion inside of a car.

Two prison officers were killed during the onslaught and three more were left injured – with two in critical condition and one fighting for his life.

French justice minister Eric Dupond Moretti said the officers, both from Caen, were “slaughtered like dogs by men for whom life means nothing”.

One of the officers, 52-year-old Fabrice Moello, killed in the rampage was a married dad-of-two.

The other officer was named as Arnaud Garcia, whose wife was five months pregnant at the time.

Only days before the career criminal had attempted to make his own escape by sawing open the bars of his jail cell.

Amra was caught and banged up in solitary confinement after the failed bid for freedom.

After his heinous escape, he is said to have managed to escape across the border despite a nationwide manhunt being launched.

The Vivienne famously competed on the 2023 season of Dancing on Ice, and was partnered with Colin while on the show.

And now Colin’s very sweet tribute to his former partner has been revealed after their tragic death.

Last weekend, on Sunday, February 16, Colin and his 2025 dance partner Mollie Pearce performed a routine to Chappell Roan’s Hot To Go.

Sharing a snap of one of his outfits from the weekend, Colin later revealed the sweet meaning behind his outfit.

The outfit he donned was The Vivienne’s save me skate costume they wore on their series of the show, and it was brought out of the Dancing On Ice storage vault for Colin to wear at the weekend.

He said he felt calm, happy, and like The Vivienne was there in spirit rooting them on.

“Tonight was extra special, thank you all for voting,” he penned on Instagram.

Colin went on: “This was The Vivienne’s last costume on our season of Dancing On Ice, and it felt so special to wear it tonight, she was with me.”

He added: “I couldn’t be more prouder of Mollie Pearce.”

An inquest heard earlier this month how a post mortem identified an “unnatural” cause of death after The Vivienne’s passing.

They also revealed that further tests are needed.

Cheshire Coroner’s Court was told Williams was identified by their father, Lee Williams.

Area coroner Victoria Davies said: “Given the unnatural cause of death identified on post-mortem testing it is appropriate for me to formally open the inquest into the death of James Lee Williams.”

She added that further investigations are required.

The inquest was adjourned ahead of a full hearing scheduled for June 30.

Cheshire Police previously confirmed Williams’ death was not being treated as suspicious.

The tragedy was announced by publicist Simon Jones, who paid tribute to the “incredibly loved, warm-hearted and amazing person”.

He added that Williams would be remembered for their “immense talent” and “the light they brought to every room was astonishing”.

Scots gran, 84, who stabbed husband tells judge she hopes they can get back together

A GRAN aged 84 who stabbed her 81-year-old hubby still hopes their marriage can be saved, a court heard.

Annie Hillen slashed stunned spouse James with a kitchen knife then tried to smother him with a pillow.

The maniac later told cops she was “disappointed” she had not killed him but now thinks the relationship could be rekindled.

But Mr Hillen, 81, who escaped with a shoulder wound, last night insisted there was “no chance” of a reconciliation.

Hillen, who is believed to be one of Scotland’s oldest knife attackers, had been due to stand trial accused of attempted murder at Glasgow’s High Court.

But via lawyer Tony Lenehan KC she admitted the reduced charge of assaulting her partner to his injury and danger of life.

Prosecutor Isabella Ennis KC said the couple had a “disagreement” hours before the attack at their three-bedroom flat in the city’s Thornwood.

Both had health issues and Mr Hillen, who had recently returned from a spell in hospital, retired for the night in a separate room.

Around midnight, Hillen collected a kitchen knife and a pillow then approached his bed.

Advocate depute Ms Ennis said: “She stabbed his right shoulder while attempting to smother him.

“James Hillen took the pillow off his wife and the knife from his shoulder.

“She left the bedroom but returned with a second kitchen knife which she again wielded at her husband.

“She succeeded only in scratching his left arm before he took this weapon and threw it away.”

The court heard how Mr Hillen managed to telephone their daughter for help and revealed how his wife had attacked him.

Hillen then left the flat in her pyjamas and socks.

She told a neighbour that she had stabbed her husband but that he was alive, the court was told.

When the resident explained he was going to call cops, Hillen replied: “Fine” — adding that she wanted to be taken away by them. Officers then arrived at the flat.

Ms Ennis told the court: “On the way to the police station, Hillen was advised her husband was unlikely to die as a consequence of the injuries.

“She expressed disappointment and regret that she had not succeeded in killing him.”

The court heard Mr Hillen was treated at hospital after the attack on August 4, 2022.

His wife was medically examined and underwent a psychiatric assessment before being discharged from the secure Rowanbank Clinic at the city’s Stobhill Hospital.

She is now living under “strict” bail conditions at a care home.

The court heard how Mr Hillen had confirmed he “could not continue to reside” with her. But Ms Ennis said: “She considers that her marriage may still yet be saved and that she may return to her jointly owned property.”

Mr Lenehan described the case as “extraordinary”. No further background to the attack emerged at the hearing.

Prosecutors moved for an indefinite non-harassment order banning Hillen from the flat.

Judge Tom Hughes continued Hillen’s bail and deferred sentence until next month for reports.

Facebook / Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group

Posting on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group, one Facebook user shared the impressive deal she came across.

She revealed that she picked up a 100 mililitre bottle of Child’s Farm Sun Cream for just £2.49 from Home Bargains.

The poster pointed out that item is available at the significantly higher price of £12 from Boots.

With a rating of SPF 50+, the budget buy is ideal for protecting your complexion this summer.

It is designed for use on “sensitive skin” with both UVA and UVB protection.

The product is advertised as offering wearer “very high protection” from sun rays.

It is also water-resistant, making it perfect for applying between cool dips this summer.

The travel-size bottle is also ideal for holiday-makers, fitting into your cabin bag.

So whether you’re looking ahead to a warm British summer or planning a sunny getaway, a trip to Home Bargains can help save you money.

The sun cream is recommended for use on ages six months and up.

The “gentle formulation” helps to soothe and protect “delicate and sensitive skin”.

It is designed to be absorbed quickly into your skin, offering “instant protection”.

Facebook users shared their thoughts on the bargain in the comments section.

“Always get this in Home Bargains, it’s cheaper,” wrote one shopper.

“These are so good,” said another impressed commenter.

The importance of sun cream in your skincare routine

Dermatologist and skincare enthusiast Andrea Suarez - known as Dr Dray - revealed why you should wear suncream.

The one thing you can do that will make the biggest difference – and this matters for all ages – is protecting your skin from the sun, Andrea stressed.

“The vast majority of external aging is due to exposure to ultraviolet radiation,” she continued, not because you’re “not using some jazzy serum or layering 90 different things on your face everyday”.

“If you’re not doing in your 20s, get on that now.”

But she said the use of sun cream alone doesn’t go far enough. Andrea urged that you also wear sun-protective clothing like broad-brimmed hats and long sleeves, on top of not staying out too long in the sun.

Doing this over your lifetime – and all year, not just during the summer or on sunny days – “will reduce the visible signs of photoageing”, Andrea said.

Those are wrinkles, muddled pigmentation and sagging skin.

Asda is also offering a discounted deal on an anti-ageing Boots buy.

However, if you’re a dedicated Boots shopper, the shop has announced a 50% off sale.

You can also pick up “luxurious” No7 skincare worth £101 for just £40 at Boots.

A mum showed off her impressive 90% off Boots haul, revealing she saved £1,100.

Another customer spent £110 on her buys, which included expensive anti-ageing products.

Britain’s Got Talent fans left furious by ‘disgusting’ audition and ask ‘how is this allowed at this time?’

BRITAIN’S Got Talent viewers have been left stunned and angry over one of the show’s acts, as they brand it ‘disgusting’.

ITV viewers were left fuming after one act took to the stage on Britain’s Got Talent, before quickly stripping down and performing naked.

Japanese act Akira Ohashi, 44, left little the imagination as he used a silver plate to protect his dignity as he then pulled off tricks that saw him very nearly flash the audience and the camera.

Taking to social media, viewers didn’t find the act funny as one wrote: “How did this get through screening? It’s not past 9pm?”

Another shared: “I’ve seen more of Akira than I ever planned on!”

“It’s hardly a talent,” said a third.

While one unimpressed BGT viewer shared: “Why would Charles and Camilla wanna see a naked man?”

“I thought BGT was a family show? They’ve got some guy, pretty much with his d*ck out on stage…” said another.

One more posted: “why is this man naked on my tv screen hiding his bits with plates, tissues and anything else hes got there.”

The comments follow as BGT viewers were also left unimpressed with the show thanks to some changes to its format and a shake up on the judges.

Bruno Tonioli was initially missing from the judge’s panel due too schedule conflicts, and instead replaced by YouTube star, singer, rapper and pro boxer KSI.

However the star’s guest appearance failed to impress fans, with many left questioning who he was.

Despite confused viewers at home, he was greeted to a roaring welcome as hosts Ant and Dec announced him to the stage for the auditions.

KSI had previously filled in for Bruno Tonioli during three days of audition tapings last year, as ITV disclosed, due to Bruno’s commitments with Dancing with the Stars in the States.

Speaking about his involvement with the ITV show, KSI shared: “I’m so excited to be a guest judge for Britain’s Got Talent. When I got the call up, I couldn’t believe it.

“I remember watching old BGT episodes and going from being amazed to laughing my a**e off. I’m buzzing to see all the fresh new talent, and I’ll be sure to leave a mark!”

Britain’s Got Talent returns Saturday March 1st to ITV1 and ITVX at 7pm.

‘I’m an emotional wreck’ cry RTE viewers after tough final of Ireland’s Fittest Family as 2025 winners claims victory

RTE Ireland’s Fittest Family viewers have all been left an “emotional wreck” after tonight’s nail biting final.

This year’s Ireland’s Fittest Family saw three coaches go head-to-head in the most epic final yet – in the Flour Mill at Dublin Port.

Taking part in the series 12 finale was Anna Geary‘s Magner family from Cork, Davy Fitzgerald’s Cummins family from Kilkenny and his O’Connell family from Waterford.

Also in the running was Davy’s third family, the Ferns from Clare.

For the first time ever on Ireland‘s Fittest Family, each family went head-to-head in a four way race at Dublin’s Flour Mill.

The Burning Rubber challenge saw each family attempt to drag three heavy truck tires up and down a led-burning hilly track.

Once all three tires were at the finish line, the four family members had to run back and climb to the top of a 10m container.

The Magners came first, followed by the O’Connells in second place, the Cummins family in third and the Ferns family in last place.

The next hurdle the families took on was an old show favourite called Sole Survivor.

This gruelling challenge saw one family member suspended in the air on a balance beam, where they had to remain balancing on one leg for 15 minutes.

Meanwhile below them, the rest of their squad had to carry heavy sand bags across thin balance beams without falling.

And the Cummins family knocked the competition out of the park as they managed to carry a whopping 171 sand bags, with the youngest daughter, Hallie, standing on one leg for the entire 15 minutes.

The O’Connell family and The Ferns  then had to face an eliminator in the relentless Back Against The Wall challenge.

Unfortunately, the O’Connells came last and therefore were out of the contest.

With three families remaining, they took on Hanging Tough, where each member had to hang six meteres above the water for as long as they could.

The Ferns came last which meant Anna’s Magner family and Davy’s Cummins family went head-to-head in the Grand Final.

NECK-AND-NECK

It was all to play for as the final round of Ireland’s Fittest Family 2025 Grand Final kicked off.

It all ended with two families running a 200m road run around Dublin Port and to the Old Flour Mill.

Once inside the Flour Mill they had to carry a heavy tractor to the end of the building and head inside to the sea-salt balance beam.

Each family had to carry 20 sand bags across the sea-salt balance beam.

They then had to jump over an A-frame and two shipping containers, which had the “dreaded” ice baths waiting for them on the other side.

THE FINAL HURDLE

The race finished with the “highest” wall-come-ramp that had the families both struggling to get to the top.

The Cummins family had the edge over the Magners from the start, but at the final hurdle it was neck and neck.

In the end, in what was an incredible final, it came right down to the wire on the ramp, but with some next-level teamwork the Cummins family got all members to the top.

Davy’s competitors, the Cummins family, came out on top and took the crown tonight after eight weeks of qualifying rounds.

VICTORIOUS WINNERS

The super-fit family from Kilkenny is made up of dad Paul, and his three kids, Zac, Bryce and Hallie.

The Cummins’ walked away with the coveted title of Ireland’s Fittest Family 2023, and €15,000.

RTE viewers all praised the families exceptional victory as they reacted to the nail biting final on Twitter.

One fan wrote: “I’m an emotional wreck after watching Ireland’s Fittest Family final.”

Ciara said: “WOW what a win for the Cummins family. Nail biting stuff towards the end.”

Gerard added: “Sweet mother of god, that was a final #irelandsfittestfamily.”

While Mark gushed: “Wow loved every minute of that final, can’t wait for next year.”

US superstar to ‘headline Glastonbury’ for first time ever to tie in with huge London residency

A US superstar is set to ‘headline Glastonbury’ for the first time ever – and they’re planning a huge London residency.

But insiders have revealed Rihanna will take to the stage at Glastonbury this year and the good news for UK fans doesn’t end there.

A source told The Telegraph that the timing of the famous festival at Worthy Farm in Somerset is perfect for the Work hitmaker.

Rihanna’s last tour took place in 2016 but insiders have revealed she’s planning six shows at London Stadium in July, with the string of concerts set to kick off five days after Glastonbury.

The publication reports an announcement for the gigs could come as early as next week.

Sir Rod Stewart has been confirmed to play the Sunday afternoon Legends slot later this year and The Sun recently revealed he’ll be joined on stage by pal Ronnie Wood.

In 2023 Rihanna performed an incredible set at the Super Bowl, during which she belted out hits including Rude Boy and We Found Love.

News of Rihanna’s rumoured return to the stage comes after her boyfriend – and the father of her two children – A$AP Rocky was found not guilty of a gun assault last week, sparing him from a potentially decades-long prison stretch.

The Sun later revealed that the couple are now planning to tie the knot as they focus on the future.

A source said: “Without doubt she was petrified that it could have gone the other way, with him winding up in jail

“And as unthinkable as that scenario may have been, it remained a horrific possibility that played on her mind right until the moment he was cleared.

“Right now they’re basking in the relief and looking forward to a new chapter, which will almost certainly include a wedding.”

‘Never lose sight,’ warns flight attendant of onboard thieves who ‘book plane tickets just to steal passenger’s luggage’

A FORMER flight attendant has warned about in-flight thieves who book tickets just to nick luggage.

Barbara Bacilleri, 31, has shared some sneaky tips for passengers who are keen to protect their luggage from onboard bandits.

Barbara Bacilleri, 31, suggests always keeping your valuables on you[/caption]

While it might seem like you can finally relax once you’re strapped in, ready for your flight, Barbara suggests that you might want to keep an eye on your carry on.

She told What’s the Jam: “Flying is often seen as a safe and organised experience, but the reality is that there are many things passengers don’t know.

“Things that can turn a flight into an uncomfortable or even dangerous situation.

“From the chaos of carry-on luggage to in-flight thefts, there are hidden truths airlines don’t tell you.

“And by the time you find out, it might be too late.”

Barbara warned that while people are resting with their eye masks on and ear plugs in, thieves might be rifling around in the overhead lockers.

Some crooks might even book tickets just to get access to luggage.

There is rarely CCTV on planes so once your items have vanished they might be difficult to trace.

The Argentinian flight attendant said airlines tend not to take responsibility for lost belongings, so it’s best to stay wary.

HOW TO AVOID FLIGHT THIEVES

Barbara said the key takeaway from her advice will always be to keep your valuables in sight.

Whether you’ve stuffed your belongings under your chair or in the overhead lockers, it’s best to take out the most important things and keep them near you.

Passports, phones, wallets and keys can easily be kept on your person and can easily be snatched from the front of a rucksack.

If you land and you realise one of your valuables is missing, Barbara said unfortunately it may already be too late.

She added: “To avoid becoming a victim, never lose sight of your valuables.

“Keep your important items, documents, and money with you at all times.”

TIPS AND TRICKS

One common misconception when flying is that the overhead locker directly above your seat is the one assigned to you.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the case.

Despite paying for the seat underneath it, anyone can put their carry-on anywhere on the flight – so someone may have decided to pop theirs in the locker nearest you.

While this isn’t ideal, there isn’t anything the cabin crew can do about it and you’ll just have to shuffle up the aisle and place yours elsewhere.

Another tip Barbara offered was to test how heavy your hand luggage is at home.

Not because you’ll have to pay extra, but because it’s not the flight attendant’s job to lift the bag into the lockers if it’s too heavy.

“If every passenger asked for help, they would be lifting hundreds of kilos per flight,” Barbara continued.

“If they get injured, they can’t continue working.

“Even worse, if they hurt themselves helping a passenger, the airline won’t take responsibility.”

Barbara said, of course, there are exceptions, but as a general rule of them – if it’s too heavy for you to lift, it’s probably too heavy for the cabin crew as well.

While one sailor seems busy and faces away, and the other looks out to sea.

The hand on his hip makes you think that the sword would clearly be there, but it is not.

An object coming from the second sailor seems like it could be a sword, but it is not quite right.

So, all that is left is for you to scour the image carefully, making sure you don’t miss any element.

To do this, you may find it helps to minimise the search area.

For example, divide it into more manageable chunks like quarters and search each section carefully before moving on to the next.

Make sure you look at the textures of the materials.

Are there any that seem strange to you?

Don’t forget that the sword may not be as obvious as you may have initially thought.

Perhaps it helps to think of this as more of an optical illusion.
