RACHEL Reeves and Angela Rayner are on a collision course over the government’s flagship workers rights bill.
The Chancellor is expected to try to water down the plans to ban zero hour contracts and impose day one workers rights after being warned they could wreck her economic sums.
But Deputy PM Ms Rayner is leading on the Bill – which is a key part of her policy agenda.
A government insider said: “Angela and Rachel get on OK – but their teams hate each other. They just don’t trust each other.”
The flagship bill is meant to ban “exploitative zero hour contracts” and give employees rights from “day one”.
Details are all being thrashed out in consultation and are expected to water them down by setting a probationary period of up to a year and exempting seasonal workers from the crackdown.
Team Reeves insisted she gets on very well with Ms Rayner.
The brewing row comes as Sir Keir Starmer has sparked Cabinet reshuffle rumours by calling in some of his top ministers for a grilling on their brief.
The PM usually does “stock takes” one on one with a Cabinet minister every six weeks.
But he is hauling some in more regularly – including Net Zero minister Ed Miliband.
It has sparked chatter these ministers are on “special measures” and could be in the firing line when it comes to a reshuffle.
A No10 source downplayed this talk saying it was just a more regular check in on flagship government policies.
But one insider said: “There is reshuffle chatter. Keir does regular stock takes with his ministers but some have been hauled in more regularly.
“Most people expect Keir to promote some of the new MPs in his reshuffle – the class of 2024. The idea that you have to have done your time before you get a big job isn’t really for him.”

RTE viewers have all praised an “iconic” 00s girl band after their “brilliant” performance on The Late Late Show.
The Sugababes joined host Patrick Kielty in the hot seat to chat about their return to the spotlight and the enduring success of the band.
The original Sugababes line-up of Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy have a career spanning three decades, with 18 Top Ten hits including six No1s.
Now, the ladies are back better than ever with their new floor-filler single, Jungle and an album to follow.
Kicking off last night’s show, the band performed their hit, Push the Button, before returning to sing their new single, Jungle.
After their second performance, the pop trio chatted to the show’s host about their strong ties to Ireland.
Siobhan told how her dad’s family hail from Tyrone, while her mum’s side of the family is from Mountmellick in Co Laois.
The singer recalled spending many of her summer holidays in Ireland with her family.
She also revealed that the “real star” in her family is her cousin, Kerry footballer Kieran Donaghy.
The band opened for Westlife at the Aviva Stadium back in 2022, and remembering the gig, they said: “Westlife was wild, we love them so much.”
Siobhan said: “I thought the bus on the way back to the hotel was going to tip over at one point.”
Mutya added: “The audience was wild for Westlife as well, we were kind of taken aback.”
The Sugababes formed the band back in 1998 as schoolgirls.
They reunited for a headline performance at South London’s Mighty Hoopla in 2022 and were unsure what else would follow.
Next month they will kick off their biggest-ever European arena tour – starting off in Leeds on April 8 and making their way to the SSE Arena in Belfast on April 19 and the 3Arena in Dublin on April 20.
Speaking ahead of their upcoming tour, Mutya told Patrick: “It’s about having fun now. We had our years of being quite serious. Now it’s time to have fun.”

THIS is the horrifying moment a huge crocodile parades a dead body in its jaws after killing a swimmer.
The victim was 51-year-old Sadarwinata, who was snapped up by the beast near Talise Beach in Central Sulawesi, Indonesia, on March 27.
In the eerie clip, the enormous croc can be seen gliding through the turquoise water after making its kill.
Its jaws are clamped around the chest of Sadarwinata’s lifeless body, which it pushes ahead of it.
The doomed swimmer, still fully dressed, is bobbing face-down in the sea.
A separate clip shows a team of rescuers lifting the body, now in an orange bag, from a boat onto the shore.
They then march along the beach with it on a stretcher, surrounded by onlookers and armed police.
It takes a dozen men to haul it over the large rocks and boulders leading to the beach.
The tragedy struck when Sadarwinata was paddling in the shallow water near the shore.
Locals reported seeing the silhouette of the huge reptile rising through the sea towards him – a said they cried out in warning.
But Sadarwinata couldn’t hear the calls, and the croc struck out suddenly, snatching him.
People on the beach could do nothing but watch as the predator thrashed the swimmer around, eventually killing him.
The local rescue team said they were alerted to a fatal attack at 7:15am.
They launched a thermal drone at around 8am to track the body.
It was this aerial drone that captured the unsettling footage.
Deny Abrahams, senior commissioner of the city police, said: “According to eyewitness statements, the victim was swimming too close to the crocodile that was already visible around the location.
“They shouted to warn him, but the victim was in the water and didn’t hear.
“The rescue efforts were carried out swiftly by the joint team.
“One of the members of the Central Sulawesi Police Mobile Brigade Corps was even forced to shoot the crocodile to make it release the victim.”
Sadarwinata’s body was taken to the Bhyangkara Hospital for a post-mortem.
Police said conservationists have since been at the scene to warn visitors about the danger and encourage vigilance in the water.
Indonesia’s waters teem with 14 different types of crocodile.
Many of them are the particularly large and violent estuarine variety.
Conservationists think the animals have been driven further inland, closer to villages, due to overfishing reducing their natural food supply.
They are also being squeezed out of some habitats from by the development of coastal areas into farms.
