Lennon Miller to Celtic latest as Motherwell insider shares verdict on huge transfer and admits ‘I’d be amazed’
ANDY HALLIDAY believes team-mate Lennon Miller is destined to reach the very top.
And he reckons the Motherwell teenager could make a very big step in the right direction this summer – by turning down Celtic.
Miller, 18, has been linked with both Celtic and Rangers, and even has some elite European clubs tracking his developments.
Brendan Rodgers is believed to be a big admirer of the teenager and could make an ambitious swoop for the midfielder at the end of the season.
But former Rangers star Halliday, 33, has effectively ruled out a potential move to the east end of Glasgow for the youngster.
Many Celtic fans see Miller as the perfect long-term replacement for skipper Callum McGregor who turns 32 in June.
But Halliday has explained why he believes there is no chance Miller will swap Fir Park for Celtic Park.
He’s also revealed where he expects the midfielder to end up in the near future.
Asked on the Open Goal podcast if Miller has what it takes to replace McGregor in the deeper role in the Celtic midfield, he said: “I think he can do a bit more (than being just a six) but I think Callum McGregor can as well, can’t he?
“Even as a six Callum McGregor still gets forward and has nine goals this season.
“But I’d be amazed if Lennon did that (signed for Celtic).
“He’s someone who wants to play every minute of every game so I think if it’s between Celtic or a club in Serie A then he’ll go to Italy.”
Miller caused a stir when he claimed he could be Scotland‘s best player in a few months after only just earning his first call up from Steve Clarke.
But Halliday reckons there are a couple of key traits even newly-retired Scotland ace McGregor has over the teenager.
Halliday added: “I think Lennon has a different range of passing from McGregor.
“What I think McGregor has got that Lennon doesn’t is that burst of pace and change of direction with the ball.
“He’s actually a really good dribbler with the ball as well.

NEW girlband Sweet Love have got the stamp of approval from the Spice Girls, as they asked for a support slot for their rumoured reunion.
Recently, Spice Girls star Mel C dropped the biggest hint yet that the iconic girl group are set to reunite next year.
The band – completed by Emma Bunton, Mel B, Geri Horner and Victoria Beckham, – have been cemented in music history as one of the biggest pop groups of all time, with fans continually eager to see them back on screen.
Speaking on Australia’s 2Day FM, Mel spoke about the monumental anniversary, and the girls’ potential plans.
“It’s 30 years next year since the release of Wannabe. We have to do something special,” she explained to the radio DJs, adding: “Obviously I can’t say too much but we are talking about things. Hopefully a nice little world tour!”
And new girlband Sweet Love hope to be supporting them on that tour, if it were to happen.
Sweet Love performed a version of “Mama” by the Spice Girls on Mother’s Day as a nod to all the wonderful mums out there.
The new band on the block is made up of Jasmine, Honey, Maya and Venice.
And they certainly caught the attention of the Spice Girls with their cover, as they responded in the comments: “Love this,” before resharing it to their millions of TikTok followers.
After reposting, the girls couldn’t contain their excitement.
Honey said: “I am completely overwhelmed. THE SPICE GIRLS commented and reposted our video. What an absolute honour. WE LOVE YOU SPICE GIRLS.”
And Maya said: “I’m actually in shock! Definitely didn’t expect the Spice girls to even see our cover of Mama , I’m buzzing that they liked it, the fact that they commenting and reshared! I couldn’t be more thankful.”
The girlband are newly signed to Greenback Records, and have already shared a stage with S Club 7 on their 17-date arena tour.
As well as that, they’ve supported JLS on their summer tour and the band are set to release new single Bad Guy on 11 April.
“We’ve been working so hard to create the perfect sound—something that’s bold, fun, and totally us.
“Sweet Love is all about empowering women, and having the best time. We want to build the ultimate Girl Gang with our fans; the Sweethearts, and we can’t wait for everyone to hear what we’ve been working on,” they’ve said.

Mishel and the Real Madrid star have been dating since 2021 and got married in 2023.

The Belgium international also enjoyed tremendous success with Chelsea before making the big move to the Santiago Bernabeu in 2018.
Courtois won two Premier League titles, the FA Cup and League Cup with the Blues.
The couple have shared various photos of themselves travelling together around the world.
The pair especially like to take trips to sunny destinations during the summer.
