Colleagues in tears as they pay tribute to murdered Scots businessman with ‘heart of gold’ after his death in Kenya
COLLEAGUES of a murdered Scot with a “heart of gold” cried as they paid tribute to him at an emotional memorial service.
Campbell Scott’s co-workers from credit-scoring firm FICO met in the US to remember him.

He vanished after visiting Kenya for a work conference and his body was found dumped and bound in a remote forest.
His friends told how he was “cranky” and used his sometimes hard to understand Scots accent as a weapon to wind others up.
They recognised his homeland by having the Nashville Pipes and Drums start and end the service.
Mike Manaton said: “Campbell was a proud Scotsman.
“Certain of his heritage and his conviction that pretty much anything good in the world was invented by Scots.”
Andrea Golden said: “He was a generous man with a heart of gold.”
Co-workers revealed Campbell, originally from Dunfermline, Fife, could be gruff and loved to slate others but also enjoyed getting the slating back with both barrels.
They told how he supported them and was a smash hit with departments around the world.
In Mongolia, he became a minor celebrity at an event and was popular with journalists and the British ambassador.
And they described how he would go out of his way to get special gifts and would even take them around the world until he met the recipient face to face.
Andrea Golden compared him to the bald-headed cartoon favourite Gru from the Despicable Me movies.
She said: “Campbell regularly told a story that he was a friend of a friend who knew the creator of Gru and said he was part of the inspiration for the character.
“He told the story with a slight smirk and a gleam in his eye. I was never sure how much was truth or a spun up tale just to get a reaction.
“Either way I see the similarities. Not so much the villain part, but I can potentially see physical similarities.”
Mike said his friend hated fine dining and loved fish and chips or a meat pie. And no matter where they were in the world he would find a British pub with a happy hour.
He added: “Campbell is a man who is celebrated by people around the world in many languages on every continent.
“And as I think about my own friendship with him I remember how many of us around the world were privileged to know him and call him a friend.”
It’s feared Campbell was lured to a house in the notorious Pipeline estate in Nairobi and tortured before he was killed.
Alex Mutua Kithuka is behind bars and expected to be charged with his murder next week.
Albanus Mutinda Nzioka was arrested with him but released after he double crossed his pals.
He’s also vowed to help detectives track down two other suspects who are believed to be part of a notorious blackmail gang.

Inside Stacey Solomon’s £6m property empire after buying 4 homes in 4 years – as it’s revealed who owns Pickle Cottage
Stacey Solomon has bought at least four properties in the last four years, which are now worth around £6m.
The TV host has shown herself to be an amazing entrepreneur dabbling in showbiz, retail, books – and now we can reveal she’s a dab hand at investments.

The 35-year-old already owns Pickle Cottage, the five-bedroom Essex family home she bought in March 2021 for £1.3M.
The sprawling pad is solely in her name, not in joint name with husband Joe Swash.
But canny Stacey has also been picking up properties through her firm Key Map Entertainments as well.
In accounts filed this week, it revealed that in the last financial year of 2023/24, the firm had scooped up £1 million worth of property.
The legal documents refer to “fixed investments”, a term that usually refers to the purchase of either land or buildings.
Taking a look at the firm’s previous yearly accounts, it reveals that in 2022/23, the business had acquired a further £800k in homes.
And in the previous year before that, ranging from 2021-2022, it bought up £1.5M in property investments.
That totals £3.3m worth of fancy pads on her books – plus £1.3M Pickle Cottage – meaning she has splashed out on four properties in four years.
The net worth now of Key Map Entertainment’s ‘fixed investments’ is £3,843,981, according to the latest accounts.
And Pickle Cottage has been completely overhauled in the last four years by Stacey and Joe to fit the whole family.
It has an annexe, an outdoor pool, a den and it all sits within 2.5 acres of land.
Similar properties are going for upwards of £2 million in the area.
This means Stacey’s total investments in bricks and mortar has hit £6million.
It’s a huge achievement for the star, who finished third on The X Factor in 2009.
Before fame, she worked in customer service roles, including at a fish and chip shop called Oh My Cod in Hornchurch, Essex.
Yesterday, The Sun exclusively revealed that Stacey had been raking in a cool £57,000 a month as her career goes from strength to strength.
The superstar has seen her bank balance skyrocket and she has now accumulated a total of £9.7million thanks to her various different endeavours.
The figures mean that Stacey is taking home a tidy £8,270 a DAY.
Last night, fans were given a glimpse at life inside ‘Pickle Cottage’ with the premiere of the family’s new reality series.
Airing on BBC One, the first episode Stacey & Joe showed the couple in a heated domestic and mum-of-five Stacey losing her cool with her eldest son Zachary, 17, after a late-night party.

Over 9million Brits warned NOT to use barbecues this week as Met Office issues amber warning with temps rocketing to 21C
BRITS have been warned not to use barbecues this week as the Met Office issues a stark amber warning – with temperatures soaring to 21C.
The weather alert for London, Northern Ireland and southern Scotland comes as conditions continue to warm up across the country.

Temperatures are expected to rocket over the next few days with Londoners being urged not to barbecue due to dry conditions increasing the risk of wildfires.
Londoners have been told not to cook in open spaces or on balconies and to ensure all rubbish is properly disposed of to avoid causing a fire.
It comes after a period of warm weather which will continue this week with temperatures expected to peak at 22°C on Friday.
Fire crews are urging people to act responsibly to prevent the risk of wildfires.
England had one of its warmest months on record in March and the UK has just 43 per cent of its average rainfall.
And just yesterday a wildfire broke out in the Kilpatrick Hills near Glasgow, with firefighters still taming the blaze this morning.
According to Kathryn Chalk, a meteorologist at the Met Office, strong winds, the ongoing dry and hot weather, have increased the likelihood of wildfires.
She said: “With strong winds and ongoing dry/warm weather this brings a continued likelihood for wildfire conditions through the period,” said Kathryn Chalk, a meteorologist at the Met Office.
“It’s a large warning, covering most of England. We can’t be specific on locations because of the nature of wildfires though, and best to stick with the weather conditions with the dry air, breezy and warm conditions.”
The London Fire Brigade said that while London may not be experiencing the same high temperatures as the summer months, wildfires can still occur, especially because of the drier start to spring this year than usual.
The fire service urged people to refrain from using disposable barbecues and to properly dispose of cigarettes, matches and litter, to prevent fire hazards.
London Fire Brigade assistant commissioner Paul McCourt said: “We want everyone to enjoy the sunshine but we urge people to take the necessary precautions to stay safe and help prevent a grass fire from starting.
“Recent events in Los Angeles and South Korea have demonstrated how rapidly fires can spread outdoors, even when temperatures are not at their highest.
“The Met Office has issued an amber wildfire warning, covering London, and this will be in place for the rest of the week.
“As the weather warms up and we head towards Friday and the weekend, we would urge Londoners not to have barbecues in open spaces or on balconies, including disposable barbecues, to throw rubbish away, and to dispose of cigarettes carefully to avoid inadvertently starting a fire.
“We’re also working closely with partners, such as local authorities, to help manage the risks in outdoor spaces and ensure the public are following the safety advice.”

A 57-year-old dad suffered catastrophic injuries in the attack and was later pronounced dead.
Emergency services were called at around 7.30am yesterday after neighbours heard “loud screaming and shouting” coming from the three-bedroom home.
Neighbours said a child was shouting and banging on an upstairs window imploring people to call the police.
They said they could hear a child screaming: “No, No! Stop. Help! Help!”
Police and paramedics rushed to the house in Hartfield Avenue, Hollingbury, to find a scene of carnage.
Police arrested a 19-year-old man, who is known to the family, in the house and say they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the murder.
Neighbours described the terrifying moment the calm of a Tuesday morning was broken on the quiet residential road.
Martin, a neighbour, was getting ready for work when he heard screams and shouting coming from across the road.
He said: “I heard a child screaming: ‘No, no. Stop! Help! Help!’ and then shouts of ‘Call the police, call the police’.”
Another neighbour said: “The police arrived really quickly and I could just hear shouts of: ‘Get on the floor! Get on the floor!’ and then they led out this young man in handcuffs.
“He was put into a van and taken off. They found a knife, possibly a kitchen knife.
“It’s just so alarming. I can’t believe it. I can’t believe someone lost their life in that house. I think I’m still in shock.”
Neighbour John said: “I heard someone went berserk inside the house. It was pandemonium.
“I heard the shouting and the crying and then armed police arrived en masse.
“It was over quite quickly and they led out this young lad in cuffs. He didn’t seem to be injured. I couldn’t see any blood on him.”
A forth neighbour said: “There were ambulances and police officers everywhere and everyone was quite alarmed.
“Initially people though someone might be armed and loose but it quickly became apparent officers had arrested someone.
“It’s very, very alarming and it sounds tragic.”
Divisional Commander, Chief Superintendent Rachel Carr said: “A suspect is in custody and a fast-moving investigation is underway to establish exactly what happened and why.”
