THE childhood home of Irish Olympic legend Ronnie Delany has hit the market for €575,000.
Ronnie Delany, who won a 1,500m gold medal at the 1956 Games in Melbourne, lived in Arklow in Co Wicklow until he was six.

While he and his family moved to Sandymount, the 90-year-old retained a fondness for the coastal town.
This is commemorated by a statue of him on the roundabout nearby to Bridgewater Shopping Centre.
And a matter of metres away from that statue is his birthplace of 4 Ferrybank in Arklow, with his former residence commemorated with a plaque in his honour.
The three-storey house has been put on the market at a price of €575,000 by Sherry Fitzgerald.
It is located on the banks of the Avoca River and is across the bridge from the main street of Arklow Town.
Meanwhile, it is situated a short walk away from Bridgewater Shopping Centre itself.
It is described in its MyHome.ie listing as having the “grace and elegance of bygone times”.
This is complete with an “imposing front door” that opens onto a “wonderful hallway, impeccably decorated with striking tiled floor, panelled walls and a soft neutral palette”.
The first floor comes with a living room with a large bay window to the front, original fireplace and timber flooring.
It also comes with a large double bedroom with shower room ensuite, a room which is said to be “ideal for use as a home office or TV room”.
The ground floor is dedicated to the kitchen and dining room which is described as “bright and modern, with wonderful design touches at every turn”.
Streamlined units, tiled floor and quartz worktop create a “modern, bright space” that is perfect for family meals or informal entertaining.
There are multiple windows and doors affording views and access to the gardens, while the cream tiled flooring ensure continuity throughout.
The utility room is equipped with belfast sink, excellent storage and plumbed for washing machine and dryer.
The top floor is complete with space for three further bedrooms, one of which comes with an ensuite bathroom.
All are described as having “exquisite decor and a sense of style introduced by the current owners.”
The sheltered back garden provides the “ideal space to sit and unwind and bask in the evening sun”.
It comes with “stylish timber panelling” complemented by an “original red brick wall” and a gate that leads to a separate private parking area.
The garden is wired to allow for a car charging port and the “wonderful planting” and “quality paving” combine to create a “haven of tranquillity”.
