Scots trainer has horse BANNED from taking part in Grand National as he’s left ‘devastated’

MR INCREDIBLE has been BANNED from running in this weekend’s Grand National.

Sandy Thomson’s nine-year-old was scratched from the contest after BHA officials decided it wasn’t in the interests of the race for him to run.

Thomson bought Mr Incredible out of Willie Mullins’ yard last year for owner James Manclark, whose dream is to have a runner in the Aintree spectacular.

The horse arrived with a reputation for being tricky after refusing to race in the past, but was second in the Midlands Grand National 12 months ago.

Thomson was told the BHA wanted to see him start a race, which he did at Kelso on March 22 before being pulled up by jockey Ryan Mania.

The Scottish Borders-based trainer even enlisted renowned equine specialist Freddy Steele  in ironing out the gelding’s quirks.

But their work has come to nothing with the authorities deciding the horse won’t be allowed to compete this weekend for fear he will disrupt the start.

Thomson, who turned around tricky former G1 winner Yorkhill – another ex-Mullins charge – to win the Eider in 2020, said: “It’s really disappointing and I’m devastated for the owner because he bought the horse to run in the National.

“We were really keen to run and have been putting a lot of work into him preparing him for Aintree.

“But we were told we are being withdrawn and our appeal went nowhere.”

More to follow.

Drug addict sex worker who bludgeoned boyfriend to death with kettle at Scots flat jailed for life over his murder

A CRACK addict sex worker who murdered her boyfriend with a kettle was caged for life.

Twisted Elizabeth Sweeney, 36, battered Neil Jolly to death with the kitchen appliance then went out to score drugs covered in his blood.

The horrific murder caused severe distress for the dad-of-three’s family

Cops eventually found the dad-of-three’s body in the bathroom of his high-rise flat covered in a duvet.

His injuries were likened to a car crash victim’s.

At the High Court in Aberdeen Judge Andrew Miller locked her up for at least 18 years.

He told Sweeney: “You murdered Neil Jolly by inflicting murderous blows in what must have been a prolonged and sustained assault.”

The beak revealed the horrific murder had caused severe distress for the dad-of-three’s family.

And he blasted Sweeney for partying after she clubbed Neil to death.

He said: “You did nothing to get help for Neil Jolly or arrange for his body to be recovered. Instead you appeared to have spent that weekend giving little thought to Neil Jolly’s fate.”

Neil’s devastated mum Sheila believes Sweeney took advantage of her caring but lonely son.

It’s thought the addict forced Neil, 49, to wander the streets while she met clients at his flat.

The pair met after Sweeney fell asleep on a bus and he gave her cash. They started a relationship but he was spotted with bruises and told pals she was abusing him.

He was last seen alive on June 23 2003 but Sweeney continued to come and go from his home.

She was even caught on CCTV going for a ten hour drinking session with another man.

When she called cops to report what she’d done she claimed she woke up to find Neil raping her. But waited three days before raising the alarm.

Forensic tests found no evidence that he had attacked her. A jury didn’t believe her story and nailed her for murder.

His mum Sheila, 78, called for her son’s killer to be caged.

The granny said: “I want to see her locked up forever.

“She’s a user and a hard-faced bitch. I wish he had never met her because he would still be alive today.

“He was lonely and vulnerable and trying to help her and she took advantage of that.

“You read about this in the paper and see it on TV but you don’t expect it at your own door.

“No family should ever have to go through what we have.”

Marine Le Pen found GUILTY of embezzlement & faces jail in verdict that may dash French far-right leader’s bid for power

MARINE Le Pen is today facing prison and the end of her ambition to become the next President of France after being found guilty of embezzlement.

The 56-year-old far-Right politician was on Monday at the Paris Correctional Court to hear the verdict in a corruption case involving her National Rally (RN) party.

She was found guilty by three judges of “embezzling public funds”, and now faces being banned from standing as President in 2027, despite being viewed as a favourite to take over from Emmanuel Macron

Prosecutors have also called for a five-year prison sentence – with two served as community service – and a fine equivalent to £250,000.

Sentencing will take place later on Monday.

Le Pen and 24 other defendants are said to have stolen around €6.8million (£5.6m) of European taxpayers’ money by setting up fake jobs in the European Parliament over a period of at least a decade.

Those convicted alongside here included eight other former RN MEPs.

Instead of spending the money on MEP expenses in Brussels and Strasbourg, they sent it all back to the RN party HQ in Paris, it is alleged.

Facing up to three specialist anti-corruption judges during a trial that ended in November,  Ms Le Pen said: “It’s my political death they’re after.

“The prosecution’s intention is to deprive the French people of the ability to vote for those they want.”

This was despite evidence pointing to a “sophisticated billing system” being set up by Le Pen, an MEP in Brussels from 2004 until 2017.

Prosecutor Louise Neyton said Le Pen and her co-defendants had “bluntly put, turned the European Parliament into their cash cow.”

President Macron will be forced to stand down as head of state in 2027, having served the two terms allowed in France

Ms Le Pen came second in the last two presidential elections, and her vote share has gone up every time.

But prosecutors have called for her to be banned from seeking public office for five years – a punishment that would start immediately, even if she appeals sentence.

The RN  is currently the largest part in the National Assembly – the Paris equivalent of the House of Commons – with 123 seats

Around 13million people vote for the party at elections – around a third of the national vote – and many see Ms Le Pen as the appropriate successor to the liberal centrist Mr Macron, who came to power in 2017.

Ms Le Pen has helped to detoxify the RN, which was founded by her late father, Jean Marie Le Pen, as the National Rally in 1972.

It was firmly linked with racism, including anti-Semitism and Holocaust denial, for decades, along with a fiercely anti-Muslim agenda.

While the RN still places anti-immigration policies at the centre of its agenda, it has toned down its rhetotic.

It is still a party dominated by the Le Pen family name, however, and if this goes, it is likely to see its fortunes reversed.

Ms Le Pen’s immediate heir is Jordan Bardella, a 29-year-old who has been president of the RN since 2022, but is considered too young, inexperienced and unqualified for high office.

Mr Bardella is a former EU parliamentary assistant for the RN, but is not implicated in the current trial.

According to the listing: “This 20ft modular tiny house offers a unique, capsule-shaped living space with floor-to-ceiling glass walls for an immersive connection with nature.

“Despite its compact size, this tiny house maximises interior space with a clever open-plan layout and integrated amenities.

Although you can order the stylish tiny home as just a shell, you can customise it to have a kitchen or bathroom inside.

Thanks to the glass walls, the affordable home could be perfect for enjoying nature or if working from home with natural light.

Given the national average house price in the UK was reported at £264,500 in 2024, it could be an affordable alternative.

Of course, you could use the home to earn some extra cash, if you rent it out, or it could be an extra bedroom for friends and family.

Alternatively it could be used as an office or gym in your garden.

Tiny homes in the UK have boomed in popularity in recent years and typically range from 100 to 400 square feet in size.

Prices vary, but a basic tiny home can cost between £5,000 and £80,000, depending on size, materials, and whether it’s custom-built.

If a tiny home is on wheels, it may be classified as a caravan under UK law, meaning it might not require traditional planning permission.

Why I could never live in a tiny home

Tiny homes are getting increasingly popular in the UK, especially in the cost of living crisis when first-time buyers are struggling to get on the property ladder or current homeowners are having to pay ridiculous interest rates on mortgages.

But Rebecca Miller, Fabulous’ Associate Editor, has shared why living in a tiny home would be her idea of a nightmare.

“I’m currently in the process of selling my flat and buying a house, and as I pack up all my belongings, I’m worried where it is all going to go – there is so much stuff!

Fortunately, I’m very privileged to be buying a house with more square feet than my current flat.

But it got me wondering, could I ever live in a small space? And the answer is no.

  1. Less personal space

Living with another person immediately cuts down on personal space, but remove several rooms, and I’d be left with only the bathroom as my sanctuary. I’m not sure I’d be able to cope!

  1. Less storage space

I’m like a magpie, I like collecting pretty things, and I like my belongings to be organised. With limited storage space, I’d find it really hard to keep everything neat and tidy.

  1. Can’t play host

One of the joys of being an independent adult is being able to host – friends, family, overnight stays, and dinner parties. Where would I gather everyone for a Sunday lunch if my table only sat two? Not to mention, how would I cook a Sunday lunch?

  1. No room to grow

Both as an individual, as part of a couple and also my hobbies, can be restricted by physical space. When I first moved into my flat, I was overjoyed at having my own balcony, and it has been a space where my love for gardening has grown. Five years on, my balcony is now overflowing with plants, and I’ve had to set up a mini propagator in the living room!

Secret celeb vapers revealed – from the mum-of-5 who vowed but failed to quit to wholesome GMB presenter

WE usually see celebrities polished and acting up for the camera and rarely see a glimpse of their real lives.

So catching them out puffing on a vape while at the beach or outside a lavish event is a shock to the system.

While some have quit, others are still addicted to the nicotine[/caption]

It might leave you shocked to find out your favourite celebrities are secret vapers.

According to ASH, the use of vapes and electronic cigarettes has skyrocketed over the last decade.

The number of users has risen from around 800,000 in 2012 to 5.6 million in 2024.

More than half of current vapers are people who quit cigarettes, according to the research.

From pop star Katy Perry to supermodel Bella Hadid, here we look at the perfect celebrities who enjoy a nicotine hit in their spare time.

The pop star has been caught smoking numerous times over the years.

In September 2013, she was spotted smoking what looked like an electric cigarette while enjoying a bottle of beer.

But it seems that since becoming a mum with her husband Orlando Bloom, Katy has ditched the habit.

The 40-year-old thanked her pregnancy in 2020 for getting rid of her addictions on Australia‘s Fifi, Fev & Byron show.

Katy said: “I’m still maintaining the balance, I’m not running myself ragged and I’m not at the club…

“When you stop drinking and smoking and start creating a baby your body is like ‘Well thanks for treating me nice for one day.’

“Usually I’m a dry martini in and [my body] is like “Please can I have a dirty, an extra dirty martini!'”

The Kardashians are well known for keeping their image as squeaky clean as they possibly can.

But the youngest of the bunch, Kylie Jenner, 27, is open to sharing her naughty side on Snapchat.

Just last year, the mum-of-two filmed herself in her car smoking a vape.

Not only that, but she showed off her impressive smoking skills blowing out rings.

While she may not show it on other platforms, her Snapchat has become a hotspot for showing off her technique.

Richard Hammond

The former Top Gear presenter has given up smoking cigarettes for almost ten years.

However, Richard Hammond, 55, continues to get his hit with a vape and was caught in 2023 puffing away at London‘s Saville Row.

Back on What Next? in 2022, he played a game of chess with James May as he share his cheeky trick to get away with smoking indoors.

He took a not-so-discreet puff of his vape before getting an empty gin glass and blowing the fumes into it.

“I’ve got away with that on airplanes,” he whispered.

“I wonder if anybody’s vaping. Not that bloke with the steamed up gin and tonic glass, obviously,” joked James.

Smoking vs. vaping

VAPING has been touted as an effective tool to help people quit smoking.

Though vaping is substantially less harmful than smoking, the habit isn’t completely harmless and comes with its own set of risks.

The NHS only recommends it for adult smokers, to support quitting smoking.

GP and author Dr Philippa Kaye explained to The Sun that the differences between vaping and smoking – and whether one is better than the other – is “complicated”.

“In a nutshell, vaping is better than smoking, but breathing air is better than vaping at all.”

Vaping exposes users to far fewer toxins – and at lower levels – than smoking cigarettes.

Switching to vaping significantly reduces your exposure to toxins that can cause cancer, lung disease, and diseases of the heart and circulation like heart attack and stroke.

These diseases are not caused by nicotine, which is relatively harmless to health. But research has still linked vaping to a higher risk of failure and lung disease.

Health risks of cigarettes

  • Smokers are more likely than nonsmokers to develop heart disease, stroke, and lung cancer
  • Smokers are at greater risk for diseases that affect the heart and blood vessels
  • Smoking can cause lung disease by damaging your airways and the small air sacs
  • Smoking can cause cancer almost anywhere in your body
  • It affects overall health too, such as your mouth, eyes, immune system and fertility

Health risks of vaping

  • They can cause side effects such as throat and mouth irritation, headache, cough and feeling sick
  • They could lead to tooth decay
  • They could damage heart health
  • They could cause lung disease
  • They could slow brain development

Bella revealed she was giving up the habit back in 2019[/caption]

Most supermodels swear by living a healthy lifestyle to make sure their body and skin looks its best for photoshoots or the catwalk, but not Bella Hadid.

The 28-year-old filmed herself using an e-cigarette back in 2019 and uploaded the footage to Instagram.

But she revealed she was doing it to keep herself accountable to giving up for the New Year.

It makes sense considering Bella was diagnosed with Lyme disease and was focused on her health journey.

Bella suffers from chronic Lyme disease, blaming her infection with the tick-borne illness for forcing her to end her promising equestrian career, and dreams of Olympic stardom as an equastrian.

Katie Price

Katie Price vowed to stop this year but hasn’t yet[/caption]

The former glamour model and TV personality has been seen puffing her vape on social media over the past year.

The 46-year-old vowed to quit in January this year due to her mum’s IPF diagnosis and lung transplant in 2023.

Taking to Instagram, Katie Price said: “I have a big confession to make, and if there’s anyone out there who wants to join me, do it.

“I’ve been vaping for a year, and it’s no good for you – especially when my mum has had a lung transplant. It’s disrespectful doing this in front of my mum.”

“I’ve decided that today is the day I am throwing this battery, chemical, addictive, horrible thing away. I am now doing vapes no more from today.

“I’ve got the strength to get rid of them. Join me. It’s going in the bin, that’s it. I’ve cleared all of my vapes out of the car and everything.”

However, earlier this month she shared a YouTube video of her sitting in her front room and it seemed she hadn’t given up just yet.

She chatted with her sister Sophie while Olive, four months, was asleep on her lap.

Katie leaned back and took a puff of her vape – ensuring not to directly vape into the newborn’s face – which her sister Sophie seemed completely unfazed by.

But the NHS advises not to vape near children.

She was also seen last week tight-faced from surgery as she puffed on a vape during an outing in Cheshire during Panto rehersals.

Eastenders actor and husband to Stacey Solomon, Joe Swash has been seen enjoying the occasional vape.

He snuck out of the RTS Awards as his wife picked up a gong for her show, Sort Your Life Out.

While outside, he gave his suit jacket to Stacey to keep her warm.

Stacey – who is also a secret smoker – chatted with him and a pal outside the venue, following her huge success.

While vaping isn’t something we suggest you do, the legendary Hollywood actor has become an icon for vaping in places he shouldn’t.

Leonardo DiCaprio used to be snapped with a cigarette often but has swapped it out for a vape several years ago.

He was pictured in 2014 smoking at his table at the Oscars awards ceremony but the act was banned inside this year.

And it’s not the first time he’s been seen puffing away at an awards ceremony.

Back in 2016 when he won his first SAG award for The Revenent, he was seen enjoying himself with his vapouriser.

Lily Allen

The British singer has often been spotted with a cigarette in her early days but has also switched to a vape in recent years.

She was spotted at the  Cheltenham Racecourse in 2019 puffing away on a fruit flavoured one.

Last year in Tuscany, she was seen with the vape relaxing by the pool as well.

But Lily has got in trouble when she was the face of vaping brand Vype and promoted it on Instagram.

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) received complaints about seven Vype posts in 2019, three of which featured captioned pictures of singer Lily Allen which were ultimately taken down.

Ever since her rise to fame in Game of Thrones, Sophie Turner has been a vaper.

One behind-the-scenes image saw her smoking on set, she later revealed dit was ‘creme brulee’ flavoured.

And she continues to keep up the habit even saying it helps her get into her roles while filming.

Jennifer Lawrence, who worked with Sophie in X-Men told chat show host Jimmy Kimmel: “I teared up a little bit watching Sophie in that scene.”

“It was so honest and real, and it’s because she really was crying because her dialect coach, right before the take, took her Juul away…She started genuinely tearing up. It was like the performance of the year. It was amazing.”

The Deputy Prime Minister of the UK is often caught having a secret vape while at work.

The 47-year-old was spotted vaping just outside her London property and admits her habit has taken over.

Back in 2023, Angela admitted that her children called her a ‘vape dragon.’

Speaking to Sky News she said: “I wish I could give up vaping. I’m going to do my utmost to make sure that I do that.

And young people need to know that vaping is not a way forward and they should not get addicted to it because it is incredibly addictive and costly as well. So they need to stop.”

The British supermodel was spotted puffing away on a vape back at a Knicks game in 2014.

The 32-year-old has previously spoken about her battle with addiction in recent years.

Speaking to The Sunday Times last year, Cara said: “I used to think drugs and alcohol helped me cope … but they didn’t, they kept me sad and super depressed.

“I feel like I’ve got my power back and I’m not being controlled by other things.”

Kate Garraway admits that vaping is too addictive[/caption]

TV presenter Kate Garraway was caught vaping back in 2019 while attending Wimbledon after she quit smoking for years.

The mum-of-two had started vaping in 2009 when she fell pregnant, but decided to ditch the habit for good when she had a stint in the jungle for I’m a Celebrity caused her to start the habit again.

Kate admitted to “hating” herself for it, as she told her co-stars: “The last thing I want to do is anyway in sanction [vaping], because I don’t now.

“But my experience was, after Billy was born, I did smoke before and I was craving going back to smoking [but] didn’t want to.

“I thought [vaping] was amazing, because it didn’t smell, at that point you could do it anywhere, it must have been like smoking in the 70s, you didn’t have to stand outside.

“Everybody said it was better for you, and I did feel much better. I got the nicotine hit.”

Kate then switched to chewing gums and sprays instead to satisfy her cravings, before going on I’m A Celeb.

But in 2023, her desire to vape returned, as Kate explained: “I think we had some props in here or something ridiculous, and I picked it up and I was instantly addicted, like beyond anything!

“I couldn’t believe it and it made me realise how, particularly those disposable ones, are so addictive.”

Christine McGuinness reveals truth behind ‘messy divorce’ from Paddy and exactly how much it cost her

CHRISTINE McGuinness has opened up on her split from ex-husband Paddy – revealing she’s still paying off her costly £300,000 divorce.

The model, who shares three kids with the former Take Me Out host, appeared on podcast The Shizzio Show where she was grilled about her life in the spotlight.

While talking to the host, Christine spoke about their relationship but didn’t confirm what ‘broke the camel’s back’ and caused them to go their separate ways in June 2022.

While she acknowledged things happened that were “unforgivable”, Christine said: “I’ve never spoken about the reasons for our divorce, and I don’t know if I ever will.

“It was a difficult time. It wasn’t something that, you know, I just decided to do overnight, or that we chose to do.”

“We tried, and, yeah, there just, unfortunately, there was no repairing it, you know?” she added.

“I’ll always, always love him as the father of the children, and I still live at home with him, which says a lot.

“We separated three years ago, and we are completely divorced, and we live in separate parts of the house, but we share a family home.”

However, as Christine continued, she admitted that things at points got messy – not to mention expensive, with the model saying she is still paying off her £300,00 bill.

“There was times where it was fine and really civil, and we were agreeing on what we wanted and what we were going, then there was times where it felt like we were starting all the way back at the beginning,” she said.

“It’s the biggest bill I have ever paid in my life, and I will say that I paid for my own divorce, nobody else,” she added.

“I think people assume that if you’re going through a divorce with someone who earns a hell of a lot of money, your legal fees will be covered, or they will cover the costs or something, but it doesn’t work like that.”

“I think both of us now, if we could sit down and do it again, yeah, we’d do it completely differently, because we both spent a hell of a lot of money on divorce lawyers,” Christine acknowledged.

“Me personally, £300,000 pounds out of my own money that I didn’t even have,” she added.

“ I got someone to represent me that was equal to who was representing him.”

However, despite their break-up, Christine notes that both she and Paddy are remaining at their £2.5million home as it’s what’s best for their children – twins Leo and Penelope and daughter Felicity – who all have autism.

“For now, not forever, because they struggle with change,” she explained.

“They’ve never even had a sleepover with anybody else. So for our children to go from Mummy’s house to Daddy’s house, and with no set routine in place, because we both work all over the place, it wouldn’t be fair on them.

“So they know where their home is and their bedrooms and all of their things, and it doesn’t matter what day of the week they come home from school, they know where they’re going.”

Donald Trump insists he is ‘not joking’ over running for a third or FOURTH term…and says there’s ‘method’ to do it

DONALD Trump has vowed to try and become US president for a historic third term as he continues to rip up the political rule book.

The 45th and 47th President of the United States has insisted he is “not joking” about his desire to serve another four years – despite his plan breaching a long-standing constitutional barrier.

Trump told NBC he believes there are “methods which you could do it” when asked about staying on as Washington’s leader.

Later in the day, he proudly repeated his claims on board Air Force One as he told reporters he already considers himself to be serving his third term.

He elaborated: “I have had more people ask me to have a third term, which in a way is a fourth term because the other election, the 2020 election was totally rigged.”

Trump infamously lost out to Democrat rival Joe Biden in 2020 but has continued to allege the result was unfair went against the wants of the American people.

Any plan Trump has in mind will have to bypass the 22nd Amendment which was added to the Constitution in 1951.

It says “no person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice”.

The two-term maximum ruling was brought in after President Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected four times in a row.

No president has gone against the rule since – despite their surging popularity at the time.

Both Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama have expressed some regret over only serving eight years.

Trump is yet to detail any loophole he may be looking to exploit to regain the presidency in 2028.

But several potential tricks he could apply to see him stay in the White House have already been rumoured.

Trump was asked by NBC’s Kristen Welker if he could use his Vice President JD Vance to stay in the top job.

She probed the idea of Vance running for president, winning it through Trump’s support and then “passing the baton” back to the Don.

By being the running mate of the incoming president, Trump could conceivably make them resign from their post and allow himself to take over by succession.

By definition, the 22nd amendment only bans a candidate from being “elected” three times.

Seemingly impressed by Welker’s deduction, Trump responded over the phone: “Well, that’s one. But there are others too. There are others.”

If Trump was to convince the American people and lawmakers to give him a third term then he would be aged 86 by the time it finished.

He will already be crowned as the oldest ever president by the end of his second stint – surpassing Biden’s previous record.

Trump has joked in the past about running for another term as he said back in January “am I allowed to run again?” when asked abut the idea at a House Republican retreat.

He has even been greeted at recent public events with huge chants of “four more years!” from his MAGA believers.

Trump told reporters he already considers himself to be serving his third term after his election loss to Joe Biden was allegedly ‘rigged’[/caption] Illustration of Donald Trump's favorability ratings.

It comes as Trump continues to see his popularity fluctuate at the polls.

He has claimed in recent weeks that he is the most loved leader in US history – a remark disagreed upon according to the actual polling data.

Trump’s favourability rating currently sits at 47 per cent, according to a national NBC News poll.

This does mark his best ever rating as president but it is still a far cry from previous results.

His dad, George H.W. Bush, also hit 89 per cent following the Gulf War in 1991.

Trump is continuing to draw worldwide attention over his political stance on the Ukraine war as he looks to help secure a ceasefire deal.

He warned Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday he will be causing a “big big problem” if the key Ukraine minerals deal isn’t signed soon.

The US president accused his Ukrainian counterpart of trying to “back out” of the agreement – just hours after he furiously admitted to being “p***ed off” with Vladimir Putin.

The US leader threatened to slam Moscow with brutal new sanctions over Putin’s repeated calls for Ukraine to elect a new president.

Mad Vlad claimed Ukraine needs “new leadership” — a move Trump warned could derail fragile peace negotiations.

The outspoken leader also took out his frustrations on Zelensky later in the day as he talked to reporters on board Air Force One.

He vented: “Zelensky, by the way, I see he’s trying to back out of the rare earth deal – and if he does that, he’s got some problems.

“Big, Big Problem!”

What is the 22nd Amendment?

THE 22nd Amendment makes up part of the United States Constitution.

The ruling places a limit on the number of terms a political candidate can serve as the president.

It was first made part of the Constitution on February, 27, 1951 and stated no individual can be elected to the office of President more than twice.

This amendment was introduced following Franklin D. Roosevelt’s unprecedented four terms as president.

His reign is said to have been widely flagged by raising concerns about the concentration of power and increased the desire to formalise term limits.

Roosevelt broke the tradition set by George Washington who voluntarily stepped down after two terms.

Both Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama have expressed some regret over only serving eight years.
