Popular Fire Stick app with more than 500 free channels and blockbuster movies receives major boost
A STREAMING app with hundreds of TV channels and free movies to watch has revealed the latest phase in a big overhaul.
The app is big on Fire Sticks, smart TVs and smartphones too.

Plex is home to some big name titles with huge Hollywood stars and beyond.
On the movie front, there are familiar hits including Noah starring Russell Crowe and Jennifer Connelly, David Bowie’s 1986 fantasy film Labyrinth, as well as comedy’s like Austin Powers and Mr Bean.
For those who love TV, there are channels dedicated to specific classic shows.
So you can watch back-to-back episodes of Homes Under The Hammer, Escape To The Country and even Pointless.
For kids, there are channels for the Smurfs, Teletubbies and Arthur.
Plex shared plans for a massive revamp last year that has been gradually rolling out across the globe.
Now the new mobile app is ready for iPhone and Android.
The overhaul should make it easier to find the channels, shows or movies you love.
There’s a redesigned navigation with bolder artwork as well as a dedicated tab for personal media libraries.
“If you don’t see the new update available on your mobile device right now, be patient,” Plex said.
“It will be rolling out to all users over the course of the next week.”
The TV version of Plex is still undergoing work.
A preview version is already out so engineers can refine and tweak features.
Streaming bills
Brits are increasingly looking for cheaper or free (and legal) streaming options as the bigger names hike prices.
Netflix recently increased its subscription cost by up to £2.
The most expensive premium plan went up by £1 to £18.99 per month.
Users of the standard plan now have to pay £12.99 – up from £10.99 previously.
And the cheapest ad-supported tier went up £1 from £4.99 to £5.99.
FREE STREAMING APPS

There are plenty of free, legal streaming alternatives around these days.
Tubi is home to many big name Hollywood movies from recent years.
And Pluto TV has even more free channels with classic TV shows to watch, as well as films.
Both are available to watch instantly without any signing up.
And they’re supported by adverts to keep them free.

Watch the horrifying moment lice technician rids client of a MONTHS worth of nits that are resilient to chemical shampoo
A HARIDRESSER has gone viral after finding months’ worth of lice hidden in a girl’s hair.
Rachel Maroun is a head lice technician, spending hours a day removing nits from children’s and adults’ locks.

The 24-year-old since opening up her clinic, has garnered a following of over four million people sharing her most extreme cases.
Recently, one video gained 35m views and 422,000 likes after a girl visited her with “months’ worth” of lice.
“This particular client was struggling to treat her hair at home,” she told What’s The Jam.
“She tried multiple chemical products – which aren’t as effective anymore due to lice resistance.
“She also didn’t have the support she needed at home to have someone be able to comb her hair out for her.
“So this lice case grew and grew over time.”
Rachel believes that this is one of the worst cases she’s had – but she managed to eventually clear them.
In fact, the client sits firmly in her top 10 when it comes to the worst headlice cases.
But all the work was well worth it in the end since the client was happy with the results.
“Her hair immediately looked better as if the life was coming back into it.
“She really was glad to have someone help her out and we have stayed in contact since the treatment.
“She has been enjoying the break from the endless treatments she was suffering through.”
The lice technician charges £115 per treatment and asks severe cases to come back for a second time, just to ensure they are gone.
In the clip, Rachel starts by closely showing the lice running around the client’s head.
She then takes the comb to the girl’s hair before revealing what came off.
Hundreds of lice and lice babies – which she scrapes onto a piece of kitchen roll.
Rachel continues to comb through until every single lice is found and discarded of.
By the end, the girl’s hair looks much clearer and cleaner.
The post was captioned: “My most recent OMG lice treatment.” [sic]
One person said: “I’m sobbing, my head feels itchy looking at this.”
Someone else joked: “I rebuke this energy, I rebuke this post.”
Kell added: “My body started itching.”
“I can only imagine the RELIEF,” said Katey. [sic]
“Every inch of hair on my body just prickled up,” added Madi.
Someone else said: “WHERE YO GLOVES N HAZMAT SUIT.” [sic]
Aj added: “This is REALLY BADD.” [sic]
Another user said: “This made my jaw quiver.”
Rachel, based in Sydney, Australia, added: “The negative stigma around head lice is actively adding to the problem.
“If we create an environment where people aren’t comfortable talking about lice, then we are leaving a lot of lice infected people to struggle alone.
“It’s an important subject to talk about.”
Lice Vs Nits: What's the difference?
Many people use the terms head lice and nits interchangeably, but they’re actually different things.
In fact, head lice are found in three different forms:
- Nits: these are the head lice eggs attached to the base of the hair. They may look like dandruff, but if take a closer look you can see that they’re oval shaped instead of flat
- Nymphs: think of these as baby lice – they’re smaller and have a greyish-white colour
- Head lice: these are tan-coloured and can be seen moving quickly along the hair or across the scalp
