BANK holidays are a great time to pile into the car to visit friends across the country.
However, local petrol stations might operate different hours over the Easter bank holiday which could disrupt travel plans for thousands of Brits.
Sainsbury’s normally keeps its petrol stations open on bank holidays, even if the associated mega-store is closed for the day.
Petrol stations normally open half an hour earlier and close half an hour later than Sainsbury’s stores.
This means that most petrol stations will be open from & 7.30am to 8.30pm.
Morrisons sold off 337 of its petrol stations in 2024 in a bid to cut costs.
However, the supermarket still operates many stations across the UK and some of its old stations have retained Morrisons’ branding.
Opening times vary depending on location, but the majority are operating between the hours of 9am and 6pm.

Tesco are expected to open its petrol stations from 8am until 6pm on the Easter bank holiday.
However, over the New Year period, the supermarket only opened its Scottish petrol stations from 11am until 6pm.
That means it is important to check ahead to see if your local station is operating under reduced hours, particularly if you are in Scotland this Easter.

Nearly all of Asda’s petrol stations have a pay-at-the-pump service.
This means that drivers will be able to fill up their cars every day of the year.
However, Asda’s petrol stations may be closing its shops meaning they might not serve food and drinks as normal.
Check on your Asda app to see if the shop at your local petrol station will be opening its doors to customers.
Shell often keep their petrol stations open over bank holidays.
The mega-chain operates over 1,100 branded service stations in the UK and has access to an additional 3,800 fuel stations.
Shell’s app contains the full details of each petrol station’s opening times, as their hours may vary.
Esso usually keep all of their petrol stations open on bank holidays, making it easier for drivers across the country to meet up with friends.
However, some of Esso’s in-store facilities will be affected by differing opening times.
These facilities include food and drink services as well as toilets.
Check ahead of time if your local petrol station will be keeping its services open, so you don’t get caught out on your trip.
Use their store locator to check the opening times for any stations on your journey.
BP have over 1,200 branded service stations across the UK.
Nearly all of the petrol provider’s stations are expected to operate under their regular working hours over the Easter bank holiday.
However, hours could vary at local stations so check BP’s website for more details.
Most supermarkets will be operating reduced hours over the Easter period.
Supermarkets including Asda, Sainsbury’s, Tesco and M&S will all be closing on Easter Sunday but will run limited hours on Good Friday and Easter Monday.
Petrol stations will also adjust their hours, as will high street staples including Next and Primark.
Eateries like Greggs and homeware stores including B&M and Home Bargains will also change their opening times over Easter.

The One Direction star died in October last year at the age of 31 after falling from a hotel balcony in Argentina.
Influencer Kate, 25, had been dating Liam for two years when he died.
She had been with him in Argentina until two days before his death.
Last night, Kate shared an touching video on TikTok of herself in Charleston, in the US state of South Carolina.
She explained to fans this is where she met the late star, as she used to live and work there.
Kate then revealed how her friends had laid on a feast of McDonald’s treats, as this was Liam’s favorite food.
The grieving girlfriend revealed how she wanted this to be a “peaceful moment” rather than “sad”, as she remembered the star at the place they found love.
Kate then talked about how her and Liam loved “make a wish paper”.
She explained: “You write down your wishes and then light it up, and hope it comes true” – she then revealed she was doing this in “honour of Liam”.
Kate and her friends then proceeded to light up small sheets of “wish paper” as they made wishes for Liam, and threw them up into the air.
Some of the paper failed to fly away, causing the Influencer to fall off back on her chair and start laughing.
She added: “Liam is definitely making fun of us right now.”
It should be noted, people shouldn’t copy this as playing with matches and paper is extremely dangerous.
Spending time with her friends comes as some light relief for Kate, who has had an incredibly tough time, trying to come to terms with Liam’s shock death.
Last month, she discussed how she was finding life and dealing with the pain of such an enormous loss.
Speaking to ITV’s Lorraine, she said: “I’m going through this healing journey, sometimes it’s hard for me to get out of bed in the morning and something I don’t want to do.
“But I have this responsibility and this obligation that I am almost in a way… I have no choice.
“I have to get out of bed (for my dog) Nala and whether it’s a five-minute walk or 20-minute walk first thing in the morning.
“Either way, it just wakes me up and refreshes my mind instead of laying in bed all day just scrolling through social media or old photos, it gets me out of bed and really, really helps my mindset and my mental health.”
Kate had been staying with Liam in Argentina but flew back to America before his fatal accident.
In an interview with The Sun last month she revealed his death “still doesn’t feel fully real”.
She added: “Love is so optimistic, and you just hope that everything will work out at the end.
“Obviously if I knew, if I could see into the future, I would never have left Argentina.”

FORMER Premier League referee Uriah Rennie has opened up about the rare condition that left him paralysed from the waist down.

“I spent a month laid on my back and another four months sitting in bed
“They kept me in hospital until February, they found a nodule pushing on my spine and it was a rare neurological condition so it’s not something they can operate on.
“I have had to learn to move all over again, I’m retraining my legs.”
