Rangers fans could face lengthy wait for new manager as ex-Leeds and England star warns punters about 49ers’ process
RANGERS fans have been told not to expect a quick managerial appointment at Ibrox in the summer under the new ownership of the San Francisco 49ers.
The proposed American takeover is expected to be completed by the end of May.

Club legend Barry Ferguson will take charge of the dugout until then and will no doubt be considered for the job after progressing in the Europa League and beating Celtic.
But he will be on Gers’ shortlist along with several other big names, with Steven Gerrard and Russell Martin just two out-of-work bosses who will likely be on the radar.
Rangers fans are hopeful that a new gaffer will be in and settled with plenty of time before the new season starts.
But retired England goalkeeper Paul Robinson has warned punters they might need to be patient – after watching how his old team Leeds operated with the US owners in charge.
The 41-cap international has pointed to the long saga surrounding the appointment of Daniel Farke and has told Light Blues supporters they may find themselves in a similar boat.
The meticulous process lasted around two months before Leeds chiefs – including President of 49ers Enterprises Paraag Marathe – finally landed on Farke.
Some fans will be put off by that prospect as Rangers will have already been without a full-time boss since February when the new owners come in.
But Robinson doesn’t think the long process is necessarily a bad thing.
Farke has proven to be an inspired appointment, with Leeds top of the English Championship and on track to return to the Premier League.
Robinson told the Inside Track podcast: “With the takeover there, we know things are done right. You look at the money that has gone into Leeds United with the 49ers.
“Then you look at how long it took them to recruit Daniel Farke.
“It took nearly two months, maybe even more than two months to appoint Farke.
“They wanted to get the right man who fitted their system, their mould, their way of playing and the style of football they wanted.
“So I don’t think it’s a decision the Rangers board will necessarily rush into.”

‘Mind your business’ – Roy Keane fumes at Jordan Pickford after England nearly suffer ultimate embarrassment
ROY KEANE blasted Jordan Pickford after the goalkeeper’s mix-up with Marc Guehi left England on the cusp of conceding against Latvia.
The Three Lions overcame a frustrating low block to beat the visitors 3-0 in their 2026 World Cup qualifier at Wembley.

But with the score at 0-0 in the 18th minute, England almost conceded in embarrassing fashion after a horrendous mix-up.
Latvian striker Vladislavs Gutkovskis raced through on goal after a fine run while duelling with Guehi.
But Pickford raced out to intercept him and instead put Guehi off after a miscommunication.
The ball ran between the pair of them and Gutkovskis got away with no-one in the England net.
But Gutkovskis missed an open goal after hitting the side netting from an angle after rounding Pickford.
When analysing the confusion at half-time, Keane blamed the Everton keeper and had some strong words for his part in the kerfuffle.
Speaking on ITV, Keane said: “Poor from England. Goalkeepers get bored sometimes.
“But Pickford comes up, and you feel like saying to Pickford ‘mind your own business, let the defender deal with it’, so I’d be looking at Pickford there.

“He’s obviously had his hand up there at the end saying ‘it’s my fault’, but he doesn’t have to come up that far.”
Ian Wright was on the same wavelength and said Pickford should have “trusted” Guehi to deal with it.
But despite Keane’s comments, it was a great night for Pickford who drew level with Joe Hart and David Seaman on 75 caps.
As such, only Peter Shilton has more caps for England than the former Sunderland stopper.
Elsewhere, Keane said England’s performance was nothing special.
The Manchester United legend added: “If this was a school report it would be a C-plus.
“It’s a good start for the manager to get two wins on the board. But the end product wasn’t great.
“There’s lots more to come from them. It was OK.”
The Ireland legend also couldn’t resist a dig at Arsenal at half-time.
He praised Myles Lewis-Skelly for winning the free-kick from which Reece James opened the scoring with.
Keane said: “”Lewis-Skelly here…he’s obviously learned that well at Arsenal over the years. It’s 50-50.”
