Located just 30 minutes from Dublin, it’s the perfect spot for a quick day trip in the Wicklow Mountains.

With lots of outdoor activities on a 240 acre site, it’s the ideal place to visit as Ireland gets its first taste of spring weather.

One of the main attractions at the centre is the high wires and low ropes, a thrilling course where visitors navigate obstacle challenges high up in the mountains.

And there is even a monster swing, where you can zoom past the trees once the obstacles have been completed.

Kippure Adventure Centre’s website reads: “If you’re looking for something different, check out the impressive selection of outdoor activities available at Kippure Adventure Centre.

“Set in the stunning 240 acre grounds of Kippure Estate, Wicklow, there’s something for everyone.”

One of the biggest draws is the zip line experience, where adventurers can soar through the treetops and take in the breathtaking mountain views.

Visitors can harness up and zip across the trees, flying through the air and enjoying the stunning landscape below.

This activity caters to a range of ages and abilities, making it a must-try for any adventure seekers.

For those looking to take it to another level, there is a state-of-the-art climbing tower that allows you to race with family and friends to the top – and it is one of the highest in Ireland.

There are also plenty of activities for younger children, including a dedicated children’s zone with outdoor play areas located around the centre’s grounds.

The Kippure Adventure Centre even caters to those on stag and hen dos, with special obstacles and courses offered.

What’s more, the river Liffey runs through the centre’s grounds where families can enjoy leisurely walks or take part in fun kayaking activities.

For those who prefer staying grounded, Kippure Adventure Centre offers a range of outdoor options like archery, orienteering and guided mountain walks.

The centre also offers unique experiences such as bushcraft survival skills and mountain navigation courses, perfect for those looking to learn new skills.

For younger visitors, there’s a treasure hunt activity that allows them to explore the centre’s surroundings.

There are also plenty of seating areas and picnic spots throughout the centre, so you can relax and take in the surroundings.

And there is an on-site cafe that offers a variety of meals, snacks and treats, perfect for refuelling after a day of exploring.

Admission to the centre starts from €45 per person, with discounts for larger groups of people.

Visitors to Kippure Adventure Centre have shared their reviews on TripAdvisor.

One person said: “Great family day out! So much to do, the kids had an absolute blast.”

Another wrote: “We had a fantastic time for a family get-together. We’ll definitely be back soon.”

Huge RTE shake-up as 3 popular shows back with twist & NEW host in days and fan fave airs final after viewers’ complaint

THREE brand-new RTE series will hit screens in days – just as a popular show airs its season finale.

Dancing With The Stars wrapped up two weeks ago after 11 exciting weeks on air and RTE have confirmed a raft of new shows will replace it on the Sunday night schedule.

Rhys McClenaghan and his pro partner Laura Nolan lifted the Glitterball trophy after delivering a breathtaking final dance that left all four judges speechless.

The fan fave series usually aired from 6.30pm until 8.30pm every Sunday evening and the slot has now been filled by two new series.

After a hugely successful first season in 2019, followed by another hit season last year, Raised by the Village returned for a new four-part season last Sunday at 6.30pm.

The series follows eight urban families who need a little help with their teenagers and take action by having their child experience life in a rural village and all that comes with it.

Episode two, which is on screens on Sunday March 30, follows housebound, gaming obsessive Josh from the Dublin suburb of Citywest as he goes to the village of Dundrum, Co Tipperary to get to grips with a new tech-free, outdoor life at The Crowe Family Farm.

Two more episodes will follow, with Raised By The Village’s current season airing right through until Sunday April 13.

And following its highly successful first season, Cheap European Homes will be making a much-anticipated comeback with an extended format of hour-long episodes.

This time, Ireland’s favourite bargain house hunter Maggie Molloy, travels to France, Spain, Portugal and Italy in search of dream properties that won’t break the bank.

And she’s not on her own this time – as the property guru is joined by a brand new co-host in the form of popular comedian Kevin McGahern.

The Cavan funnyman said: “Maggie, of course, was hosting the Irish one and then they expanded it to the European version.

“At the moment it’s a half-hour show, so what they wanted to do was expand it to an hour-long show so as well as showing people houses, they wanted to show people ways to integrate into the society.

“So that’s my job. When Maggie’s showing them the house, I kind of show them around the area and hook them up with people who’ve already made the move.”

The first episode, which airs on Sunday at 7.30pm, sees Maggie and Kevin help Machelle find a bargain home in Spain with land to open a campervan site.

MORE HOME GROWN HOME SHOWS

By Georgia Walsh, Deputy Showbiz Editor

ONE of RTE’s most popular shows, and my personal fave, has disappeared off screens.

This season of Dancing With The Stars was gripping from the beginning to the end and had fantastic dancers – like winner Rhys McClenaghan and Jack Woolley, as well as some not-so-ready-to-rumba contestants such as Joanna Donnelly and Kevin Dundon.

Both ends of the spectrum were equally as entertaining to watch and it’ll be sorely missed – as will Hugh Wallace’s witty and brazen comments on The Great House Revival.

Luckily RTE have made up for the lack of dancing with some more home-grown ‘home’ shows.

It seems as though RTE’s Sunday schedule can’t get enough of them from Home of the Year, Room To Improve, DIY SOS: The Big Build Ireland and now the latest – Cheap European Homes.

Ireland’s favourite bargain buyer Maggie Molloy is coming back with extra long (one hour) episodes to have viewers dreaming of buying a little piece of paradise abroad.

And she’s joined by comedian Kevin McGahern this year – which sounds like a very random but entertaining addition to the show.

And if that wasn’t enough for Sunday evening, The Great House Revival will be airing its eighth and final episode at 9.30pm.

Hugh Wallace will be helping Kieran Cotter, 26, to renovate his grandmother’s old traditional stone farm cottage in Knocknagoshel, Co Kerry.

But here’s hoping viewers will get to see the finished result this time as last week they were left disappointed as a couple failed to complete their renovation in time.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Hugh visited the couple for the final time in January 2025, after more than two years of the build, and they still hadn’t moved in…or finished their build.

Also new to this week’s RTE schedule is Donal’s Festival Kitchen, which begins this Friday at 8pm.

The show, hosted by Donal Skehan, explores some of the rich traditions — and delicious food — of some of the most fascinating and joyful occasions celebrated in Ireland today.

This week, the Dubliner will be joined by chefs and special guests as they explore the vibrant flavours of Eid al-Fitr, cooking up a feast of chicken sambal and shakshouka.

The colour block fleece has an aqua green and white pattern which will brighten up any outfit.

It has two side pockets, a centre zip pocket and a high collar.

Dunnes Stores designers said the coloured fleece has a “customisable fit”.

They said: “This cosy half-zip fleece is designed with a funnel neck for added warmth, a zippered chest pocket, and a drawstring hemline for a customisable fit.

“Showcasing an all-over print, it is perfect for active or casual wear.”

Retailing for a bargain €15, the cosy sweater is a piece you will keep reaching for again and again.

It comes in sizes XS to XL, but size XS has already been snapped up on the website.

Meanwhile, Dunnes Stores bosses have dropped their own Birkenstock dupes for a fraction of the cost.

Birkenstocks are known and loved as the ultimate summer shoe with celebs like Kendall Jenner and Hilary Duff sporting them.

It looks like the Birkenstock trend is here to stay for another summer – so if you’re finally ready to jump on the trend, now is your chance.

The Buckle Footbed Sandals are available online and in stores across the country.

Not only do they look effortlessly chic, but they’re also extremely comfortable to wear all day.

The dupe sandals come in the signature Birkenstock taupe colour, black and khaki.

They feature a brass buckle like the original which can be tightened or loosened for a comfortable fit.

Dunnes Stores chiefs said the sandals are very versatile and can be paired with most outfits.

They said: “These smart buckled sandals feature a contoured leather insole, making them super comfortable for all day wear. Wear yours with everything from denim to dresses.”

The dupe sandals are €15, while the luxury Birkenstock brand can set you back €113.

Available in sizes 37 to 42, the dupe shoes are set to fly off the shelves.

Why police were called to first Dunnes Stores opening

BETWEEN the weekly food shops and bargain fashion - Dunnes Stores is a staple retailer in Irish households.

But this wasn’t always the case, and when the initial branch of the shop opened its doors in 1944 it caused quite the stir

On March 31 of the year, Ben Dunne opened the first ever Dunnes Stores on St Patrick’s Street in Co Cork

Locals quickly learned of the grand opening and flooded into the store in what the retailer’s archives recall as a “shopping frenzy.”

The bargain clothing on sale inside the new store at “pre-war prices” was one of the factors cited for the buzz.

During the chaos a window was forced in and Gardai were called to the scene.

Cops worked to deal with the eager crowds and keep shoppers calm and safe before they made it into the store for their first Dunnes experience.

Fast forward some 80 years, the business now employs over 18,000 people and although an opening of a Dunnes branch hasn’t caused quite as much stir since the very first one, it has cemented its place as one of the nation’s leading retailers

Dunnes Stores now has 138 stores across Europe:

  • 118 in the Republic of Ireland,
  • 15 in Northern Ireland
  • Five stores in Spain
