Geordie Shore star AXED from series after driving ban and cocaine scandal

GEORDIE Shore star Scotty T has been AXED from the series after his recent driving ban and cocaine scandal.

The reality star, 36, who returned to the Paramount+ series last year, pleaded guilty last month to two counts of driving with a controlled drug, which was above the specified limit.

Scotty was fined £330 and banned from driving for a full year.

Despite his big Geordie Shore return after two years away from the show, bosses have made the decision to drop him from the new series.

A source told The Sun: “Scotty T will not be back for the next series of Geordie Shore, which starts filming later this spring.

“While the Geordie Shore cast have never been expected to be squeaky clean, bosses couldn’t stand by his recent off screen antics.

“At the end of the day, it’s not a good look for the show or MTV if they endorse cast members who drive whilst under the influence of illegal drugs.”

They added: “They had no choice but to not ask him back for the next run. If he cleans up his act, there is always the chance he could return in the future, but right now, the show is moving forward without him.”

The Sun have reached out for comment.

The Celebrity Big Brother winner was stopped in Newcastle on October 18 last year.

The city’s magistrates’ court heard that he had 32 microgrammes per litre of blood in his system while driving his Land Rover Discovery.

The legal limit is 10 microgrammes.

He also had 800 microgrammes of BZE per litre of blood – above the legal limit, which is 50 microgrammes.

Scotty’s comeback

Last year, insiders teased that Scotty was set to make a return to the series.

A source had told us: “Scotty’s been in weeks of talks and is now days away from signing on to officially rejoin the cast.

“He really missed the show and knows it was his own fault he had to leave.

“The cast all still love him so they’re so happy he’s set to return. It means next series will be incredible – even though he’s done some stupid things in the past, he’s fun TV.

“Bosses have warned him this is his last chance and not to ruin it like he did last time.”

Scotty joined the cast in 2012 for the fourth series.

He was on the show until 2018.

The reality star then returned in 2022 for series 18, 19 and 23.

Back in 2019 Scotty opened up to The Sun about his battle with drugs.

He booked himself into a rehab centre facility in 2017 and spent two weeks getting clean.

Under-fire Verona Murphy ‘fully intends’ to remain as Ceann Comhairle despite no confidence motion & rejects accusations

CEANN Comhairle Verona Murphy has tonight said she “fully intends” to remain in her position despite a motion of no confidence in her being tabled by opposition parties.

She also rejected accusations of “partiality and collusion” and said “prolonged disorder and obstruction” of the Dail “is utterly unacceptable”.

The motion, put forward over Deputy Murphy’s handling of the Dail’s speaking time row, was signed by Sinn Fein leader Mary Lou McDonald, Labour’s Ivana Bacik, Cian O’Callaghan of the Social Democrats, Richard Boyd Barrett of People Before Profit and Independent Ireland leader Michael Collins.

The motion, which will go to a vote next week, claims that “the Ceann Comhairle no longer retains the confidence of all members of Dail Eireann”.

Commenting tonight, Deputy Murphy said she “fully intends” to remain in her role and also “categorically” rejected accusations made against her of “partiality and collusion”.

The Wexford TD said: “The speaking rights issue has been a significant and divisive issue since January of this year.

“As has been reported, my office has endeavoured in utmost good faith over the intervening two months to find a compromise between government and opposition in relation to the speaking rights issue without success. Despite months of negotiation, no consensus resolution of this dispute was achieved.

“I have loyally, scrupulously, and impartially adhered to my solemn undertakings made to the House, and through the House to the Irish people.”

She added: “Prolonged disorder and obstruction is utterly unacceptable in any democratic parliament. So too is making false accusations of partiality and collusion against its officials and Chair.

“By virtue of the independence of the office of Ceann Comhairle, I am in the unenviable position that I cannot descend at will into debate to defend myself against the entirely false allegations of collusion made against me in the Dail today.

“I categorically reject these totally unfounded allegations. I have at all times followed the correct procedures of the House and the advice of the impartial officials present. The Clerk of Dail Eireann has independently prepared a report on yesterday’s proceedings detailing the procedures followed. It has been laid before the Dail and accordingly is a public document.

“I fully intend to continue to carry out the onerous office to which I was elected in accordance with the solemn undertakings I gave the Dail upon my election.

“I call on every member of the House to reflect on and abide by their own constitutional obligations, to refrain from disorder, and to respect the rights and dignity of every other member and of the House itself.”

It’s understood that the Government will stand by the Ceann Comhairle if she decides to try to weather the storm and survive the motion of no confidence.

It comes as Michael Lowry has been accused of gaslighting the entire country after he claimed he never meant to cause offense when he gave a TD two fingers in the Dail.

Sinn Fein, Labour and the Social Democrats had all called on Verona Murphy to consider her position as Ceann Comhairle as they are furious over how she handled the Dail bust-up on Tuesday.

The Government rammed through a vote to change the rules of the Dail to create a new “Other Members” speaking slot to allow Government-backing TDs such as Michael Lowry question the Taoiseach in a similar form to Opposition leaders.

TWO FINGERS

The photo of Deputy Lowry giving Deputy Murphy two fingers during the raucous Dail bust up on Tuesday was raised by several politicians as the row erupted again.

Deputy McDonald accused the Tipperary TD of “giving two fingers to the Irish people” as the Government pushed through their Dail changes.

Taoiseach Micheal Martin said that it was wrong for Deputy Lowry to give two fingers to someone in the Dail and called on the Government-backing TD to apologise.

People Before Profit TD Ruth Coppinger accused Lowry of gaslighting the entire country by flipping the bird and then claiming he didn’t mean it.

‘GASLIGHT THE POPULATION’

She told the Dail: “I want to ask you Taoiseach, have you any qualms doing business with Michael Lowry – somebody who gave two fingers to the public yesterday and then went and gaslight the population that he hadn’t actually done it?

“Someone would could lie at the drop of a hat like that – have you any qualms about doing business with him?”

In a statement, Deputy Lowry claimed he gave Deputy Murphy’s camera two fingers without “malicious intent”.

He said it was an “errant gesture under provocation” that has “been taken out of context.”

‘BULLDOZING DAIL RULES’

He said: “My gesture was not intended to be offensive or to cause any offence and I regret that it may have been seen in such a way.”

It comes as the opposition parties now turn their attention to the Ceann Comhairle in the speaking time row after they called for her to step down over how she handled the Dail chaos on Tuesday.

Deputy Lou McDonald accused the Ceann Comhairle of “bulldozing Dail rules” to get the Government’s deal over the line.

She said: “The Dail can not function properly while you remain in the Chair.

‘UNTENABLE’ POSITION

“Above all, the Ceann Comhairle must be impartial, fair and independent and by your actions you have demonstrated you are not.

“Your position is therefore untenable. I ask you to reflect very carefully on this because you need to go.”

Labour leader Ivana Bacik claimed the new “Other Members Questions” slot has been contrived by Government to create a new “sham opposition” where Government backing TDs quiz Government leaders in the Dail.

As opposition parties queued up to express no confidence in the Ceann Comhairle, she sat quietly and scribbled down notes.

‘MODEST REBALANCING’

Taoiseach Martin accused the opposition of shouting down the House because they didn’t agree with the Government’s “modest rebalancing” of Dail speaking time.

He accused the opposition of manufacturing the row to try and reduce the Government’s majority by attacking the independent TDs who are backing Fianna Fail and Fine Gael.

He warned that the Coalition will not let Mary Lou McDonald and Sinn Fein rule the roost in the Dail as he threatened to meet their opposition “with steel.”

He said: “New precedents have been set and I don’t believe this Dail will ever be the same because of what happened here yesterday.”

‘YOU’LL REGRET IT’

Martin warned the Labour Party that they have now “tied yourself to the hip of Sinn Fein and you’ll regret it.”

The Taoiseach then tangled with Social Democrats TD Cian O’Callaghan who claimed that the Fianna Fail leader was “drunk on power.”

The opposition leaders had threatened to put down a motion of no confidence in the Ceann Comhairle if she does not resign from her position.

The Ceann Comhairle Verona Murphy did not address this in the Dail on Wednesday.

March is a great time to tackle jobs in the garden[/caption]

And if you want to ensure your flowerbeds are looking their best in time for summer, there are a number of jobs you can be getting on with this March.

And getting your garden in tip-top shape doesn’t have to cost a bomb, as you can use items you likely already have in the cupboard, such as coffee grounds.

Posting in the Gardening On A Budget Facebook page, one budding gardener asked the question: “Are coffee grounds good for plants, which plant and how to use?”

The post was flooded with helpful responses from avid gardeners, keen to share their wisdom.

One person said: “I’ve been using coffee grinds for years and its a brilliant free feed.

I get mine at a local cafe for free.

I soak the grounds in a tub of water to make a concentrate, then scoop a cupful or two into a watering can and fill it up with rain water.

Then I water both indoor and outdoor plants.

It’s also fantastic as a lawn feed.

A second person said: “I’ve been using coffee grounds in my garden for years.”

A third person said: “My peace lily was looking really sorry so me and my daughter gave it some coffee water and put it outside and watched it stand back up looking healthy again!”

A fourth person added: “I’ve used them on my acid loving plants, I’ve found them beneficial.”

Coffee grounds are a good source of nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus which are all essential nutrients for plant growth.

This means they make a great natural fertiliser.

Top 5 Spring Gardening Jobs

2. Weeding

Early Spring is the best time to tackle weeds; if you can introduce some regular weeding into your routine, you can guarantee a tidy garden all year round.

3. Hedge maintenance

Spring is the ideal time to tidy up overgrown hedges and shrubs, as regular trimming ensures healthy growth and reduces pest issues. Using a tool like the Gtech Lightweight Hedge Trimmer can help to keep your greenery looking sharp and neat.

4. Composting

Starting a compost heap this spring is a pro-active, cost-effective way to harness nutritious soil for your plants and recycle organic waste that will benefit the overall health of your greenery and foliage.

5. Look after your lawn

Lawn care is hugely important in assuring your garden stays looking beautiful. Make sure to rake away any excess leaves and trim your grass routinely.

They can also improve soil structure and water retention and are best used on plants which prefer slightly acidic soil.

Make sure to dilute the coffee grounds with water before applying them to flowerbeds as otherwise they can be too acidic and harm your plants.
