DONALD Trump’s under-fire defence chief hit back with a foul-mouthed blast yesterday after full details of his part in an astonishing battle plan security breach were released.
The US President had said no sensitive information was leaked when a journalist was added by mistake to a group chat of top officials planning attacks on Houthi rebels in Yemen earlier this month.
But The Atlantic editor Jeff Goldberg responded by publishing a list of aircraft and timings US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth had posted via the Signal app.
Mr Hegseth then tried to dismiss it, saying the “so-called war plans include no names, no targets, no locations, no units, no routes, no sources, no methods, no classified information”.
He added: “Those are some really s****y war plans.
“This only proves one thing: Jeff Goldberg has never seen a war plan.”
Several lawmakers called for Mr Hegseth to be axed.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio admitted that “someone made a big mistake”.
Meanwhile, UK Defence Secretary John Healey took a subtle dig at the US after the chat criticised “freeloading Europe”.
He said: “The thing about being close allies and good friends is if you’ve got concerns or challenges, you raise them, but you don’t do so in public.”

But the ex-hitman told SunSport: “With Delap, I know big clubs are looking at him.
“Ipswich look like they are going down. He needs to stay in the Premier League.
“If he’s playing in a more established Premier League team, what can he deliver?
“It’s important that he plays. If he’s going to be second choice — if I’m his agent, I’d advise him not to go.”
Hasselbaink, 52, scored 127 Prem goals for Leeds, Chelsea, Middlesbrough and Charlton.
The Dutchman’s career in this country overlapped with a number of English centre-forwards — Alan Shearer, Wayne Rooney, Andrew Cole, Jermain Defoe, Michael Owen and Les Ferdinand.
But English No 9s are a dying breed. Under-21 ace Delap was bubbling with enthusiasm after training with Three Lions captain Harry Kane for the first time last week.

Between Delap, 22, and Kane, 31, there are not a lot of international-level English centre-forwards.
New Three Lions boss Thomas Tuchel picked Dominic Solanke and Marcus Rashford, both 27, ahead of Delap, with 29-year-old Ollie Watkins injured.
Hasselbaink rates Watkins and Solanke highly.
But he told Gambling Zone: “They need to show consistency to put pressure on Harry Kane.
“Kane needs to feel his place can be taken. That is healthy.”
Delap is the third highest-scoring English-man in the Prem, with ten, behind Cole Palmer (14) and Watkins (13).
Kevin Betsy was Delap’s head coach for four years with England’s youth teams.
During Betsy’s time at the FA, it was recognised that English football was not producing as many centre-forwards as before and he conducted his own study into the issue.
Betsy recognised aspects of the academy system were hampering the emergence of more strikers like Delap.
First, there was a broader backlash against early developers like Delap, who dominated in youth football.
Some coaches — in their determination to give smaller, more technical, youngsters the chance to blossom later — went too far the other way.
Betsy, now a first-team coach at QPR, said “The result was a lot of No 10s were created, like Phil Foden and Cole Palmer, and not so many No 9s.”
Many clubs are now aware of that issue and of the need for more striker-specific coaching.
And Hasselbaink said: “The good old-fashioned No 9s are not in fashion.
“But because football is always in cycles, they will come back.”
Until they do, players like Delap will attract huge attention — and fees to match.

A LOVE Island star has revealed her clever meal hack that makes her toddler happily eat her vegetables.
Camilla Thurlow, who famously got together with husband Jamie Jewitt on the ITV2 dating show, shared her dinner trick on social media this week.
The 35-year-old said she has been using the “DIY pasta” style of meal for daughter Nell, four, “a lot recently”.
The dinner involves a bowl of plain pasta accompanied by a plate of ‘toppers’ including veggies and cheese.
Camilla said: “When she builds her own pasta, generally she’s more inclined to add more colour, stir it all in and eat it completely happily.
“Whereas sometimes if I add it all in, she might not.
“Also I do like her to be involved in cooking but sometimes it’s just not feasible – two babies crying, two dogs barking, my brain exploding etc.
“But she still feels really involved doing this, and has some control.
“Plus, generally, she grazes through anything she leaves on the plate.”
The reality TV star bagged a ‘pick plate’ from Amazon for £10.99 that has five compartments for fussy eaters that keeps foods separate.
In each, she sets out an assortment of foods such as sweetcorn, cucumber, red pepper, olives, pickles, chicken sausage pieces, and peas – as well as grated cheese, bolognese, and tomato pasta sauce.
She added: “Also, I sometimes change up the base, a baked potato has been a hit too.
“Just thought I’d share as it’s been such a game changer for me and feeding toddlers/pre-schoolers is [mind blowing emoji].”
Jamie, 34, and Camilla, 35, are also parents to Nora, two, and baby Brodie, who they welcomed into the world last May.
The couple revealed earlier this month that Nora has been diagnosed with autism.
In the heartfelt post, Camilla shared a photo of Nora, who was smiling in a pink puffa jacket, as she walked in the sunshine.
Alongside the image, Camilla wrote a touching message about her daughter’s strength and perseverance in the face of autism, highlighting the hurdles Nora has overcome despite not yet reaching certain developmental milestones.
