Twisted true crime fanatic is jailed for knifing screaming mum to death in random beach attack after prowling for victim

A TWISTED true crime fanatic has been jailed after knifing a mum to death in a random beach attack.

Nasen Saadi, 20, “butchered” 34-year-old Amie Gray on Durley Chine Beach in Bournemouth as she screamed: “Get off me.”

The twisted criminology student also stabbed Amie’s pal Leanne Miles 20 times – leaving her seriously injured in the horror attack.

Saadi has now been jailed for life with a minimum of 39 years after he was found guilty of murder and attempted murder following a trial.

In a victim impact statement, Amie’s wife Sian Gray said she cannot understand how a person can so “maliciously and pointlessly” take someone’s life.

She also told how the “world has fallen from beneath our feet” following the mum’s death.

Sian added: “Amie’s beautiful life has been reduced to being remembered as a murder victim.”

Sentencing, Mrs Justice Johannah Cutts said Saadi had “planned to kill” that night.

She added: “Your assault on each of them must have been terrifying.

“No one could have heard their screams.

“No doubt, you thought you had committed the perfect crime.”

Winchester Crown Court heard the monster had a morbid interest in true crime and horror movies.

Saadi was also fascinated by knives – calling himself “Ninja killer” on Snapchat – and carried out chilling searches for Brianna Ghey‘s murder and serial killer Levi Bellfield.

He would quiz his lecturers at Greenwich University about how to get away with killing – prompting one to ask: “You’re not planning a murder, are you?”

On May 20, the monster started to make his macabre fantasy a reality as he travelled to Durley Chine on a “recce” mission.

CCTV showed Saadi prowling the beach at night dressed in dark clothing while he hunted for a good spot.

Four days later, he returned to Bournemouth to carry out the gruesome killing.

Amie and Leanne had been chatting next to a fire to keep warm when Saadi struck in an act “horrifying in its savagery and in its randomness”.

Their screams were captured on CCTV as the monster stabbed them multiple times.

Saadi then left the pair bleeding on the sand as he shrunk into the shadows “away from the glare of the streetlights or the moonlight”.

In a harrowing 999 call, Leanne was heard crying out in pain as she told the operator: “I have been stabbed loads of times. Oh my god I am getting dizzy, please hurry up, please hurry up.”

She continued: “Oh, I feel sick, they need to be quicker, I am in so much pain, are you still there, please do not leave me.

“I am bleeding everywhere, I have been stabbed loads of times.”

Paramedics raced to the scene but personal trainer Amie was already “cold to the touch”.

Her cause of death was given as multiple stab wounds to her chest and arm – including one to her heart.

Leanne was rushed to hospital with 20 stab wounds to her chest and back but miraculously survived.

She later told police she and Amie had attempted to escape the knife-wielding maniac but were unable to shake him off.

She said Amie had screamed out “get off me” as Saadi repeatedly hacked at her as she lay defenceless on the sand.

Recalling her own ordeal, Leanne added: “I didn’t want to look at him. I couldn’t look at him.

“And I told him, I said, ‘please stop’. I said, ‘please stop, I’ve got children’.

“And then I think that’s when he started to go, he walked away.”

Officers trawling through CCTV of the moments leading to the attack were able to snare Saadi when he was positively identified by a witness.

In his police interview, he said he had an interest in true crime and enjoyed horror movies.

He also admitted visiting Bournemouth, but said he might have suffered a “blackout” or “been affected because he had been drinking”.

But police discovered he had carried out a string of twisted web searches leading up to the attack.

This included “Bournemouth CCTV” and “Is Bournemouth beach open all night” just days before the murder.

Saadi had also searched “how sharp are kitchen knives?” and “why is it harder for a criminal to be caught if he does it in another town?”

The killer had purchased a number of knives but the ones used in the attack have never been found.

Officers also seized a blue Trespass rucksack which contained white latex gloves – two of which were inside out – as well as a black balaclava, a torch, used wet wipes and a packet of tissues.

In his police interview, Saadi told officers he was not the man seen in CCTV on the night of the attack.

He said: “I am wrongly accused of mistaken identity, mistakes can happen and I am not responsible.

“I think just because someone is wearing the same clothes is circumstantial.

“You haven’t found a murder weapon, you haven’t found the trousers, the bag.”

Saadi denied murder, attempted murder and an alternative charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm but admitted failing to provide his mobile phone code to police.

Amie’s wife Sian Gray said following the verdict: “I want to take this opportunity to thank all of Dorset Police, the jury, prosecution team, the medics, and first response team – to each and every person who helped bring Amie the justice she deserved.

“Amie will never be forgotten. She touched the lives of so many.

“The immense support and love shown by everyone reflects just that.

“Amie’s life has been brutally taken but now she can rest in peace.

“Her strength lives on in all of us.”

The pair released a joint statement just minutes before their Speakeasy live show was due to start at Cheltenham’s Town Hall last night.

“We have been in the venue all afternoon with technical difficulties which have posed real safety concerns and have tried everything we can to be able to go on stage tonight.”

“We hope to see you very soon. The venue will be in touch with ticket holders.”

The pair then signed off with: “We are as disappointed as you are. K & G.”

UPSET FANS

Many disappointed fans took to social media to express their disappointment at the show being cancelled so close to stage time.

It’s understood Karen and Gorka‘s tour is now back in action, and they are due to perform at Ipswich’s Regent theatre tonight.

STRICTLY’S BAFTA SNUB

Meanwhile, it’s not been a great week for Strictly and its stars.

It was revealed yesterday that the BBC show failed to receive an expert BAFTA TV nomination for the first time in the show’s history.

The long-running programme debuted in 2004 and has been nominated each year since 2005.

However, in the latest batch of nods, Strictly is up for the Memorable Moment Award, which is decided by public vote, rather than the official judges.

Fans have previously seen Strictly take home BAFTA TV gongs in 2016, 2017, 2020 and 2024.

ITV confirms release date of twisted new show Genius Game – as it bids to be the new 1% Club

ITV HAS confirmed the release date of its brand new show the Genius Game.

The broadcaster will bring the new format to screens next month, with David Tennant on hosting duties.

ITV
David Tennant will host the brand new format, which is set to air across two weeks[/caption]

It will see strategically minded players, chosen not just for their high intellectual prowess but also their social IQ, face the ultimate battle of survival.

To win, contestants will participate in a host of never-before-seen games all designed to not only test their intellectual acumen but encourage them to carefully and creatively use the art of manipulation to outfox their opponents and win a cash prize.

Host David will take on the role of The Creator in the eight-part series which originates from South Korea, and guide players as they attempt to navigate each uniquely crafted challenge.

But who has what it takes to deceive, collude and outsmart their opponents to become the first UK winner of the ‘Genius Game’?

ITV haven’t confirmed the exact launch date for the new show, but viewers will see it on screens next month.

Eight episodes of the format have been filmed, with them set to air over two weeks.

Speaking about the new show, Katie Rawcliffe, Head of Entertainment at ITV, said: “This exciting reality format is designed to keep not just the players but the audience on the edge of their seats with each episode containing compelling gameplay and thrilling twists.

“David Tennant is the perfect ringmaster to preside over this battle of brainpower, teamwork and deception.

“We’re delighted to be bringing Genius Game to the ITV audience.”

Do you have to pay tax on game show winnings in the UK?

Unlike in many other countries, such as the US, HMRC allows cash prizes from competitions and the National Lottery to be tax-free.

However, in order for the money to be seen as from a ‘competition’, there has to be a skill-based element, such as a quiz question, or the option of free entry.

This is why some competitions ask incredibly simple questions that even a five-year-old could answer, as they are trying to get around the requirement to offer a free entry option.

‘Wives are watching’ – Ally McCoist stuns presenter pal Laura Woods with topless video from his sun-kissed holiday

ALLY McCOIST stunned his presenter pal Laura Woods with his latest social media post as he ditched his shirt for a dip in the sea during his sun-kissed holiday.

The Rangers legend, 62, is enjoying a well-earned sunshine break with his old Ibrox friend Ian Durrant after jetting off from Scotland last week.

The duo travelled business class

The old double-act got back together again for a fishing trip abroad, with McCoist sharing a snap of them both in the airport before the flight last week along with the caption “trouble ahead”.

The pair both clutched a pint of Guiness for the snap and travelled business class to their destination, believed to be a luxury Florida villa overlooking a beach.

It’s been all-quiet from the duo since they flew off last Thursday, with very few updates since they landed.

But yesterday McCoist shared a video of himself enjoying his final walk along the beachfront before heading to the airport to catch their return flight to Scotland.

He appeared topless to the camera and filmed himself walking into the chilly sea.

Speaking to the camera, he said: “Morning everyone, (it’s the) back of 7am and I’m just going for my last dip before heading back.

“It’s beautiful, absolutely stunning. Got the rods out there, some of the guys out there doing some fishing.”

He then turned his camera towards the water and said: “I’m going right in here.”

The Gers icon was clearly taken aback by the temperature of the sea as he audibly groaned before describing the water as “fresh”.

He then wrapped up the clip by adding: “Have a great day everyone.”

McCoist captioned the video: “Could seriously get used to this 🎣

Most fans who commented had their eyes on the water and the beautiful surroundings.

But ITV and TNT Sports presenter Woods, who is a close friend of McCoist, was more focused on the popular pundit’s physique.

She replied: “Bloody hell Ally people’s wives are on this app 😅🤣

He responded urging her to make the same trip one day with her husband Adam Collard and their baby Leo Ernie who was born in January.

He said: “You three would love it out here x.”

Many of his followers joked that McCoist wasn’t actually in Florida and was instead enjoying a stay a bit closer to home.

Someone wrote: “Ardrossan beach is great at this time of the year 😎

Another laughed: “Ayer beach is looking better than I thought.”

While a said: “Never knew Saltcoats was that nice!”

England’s highest town known for its thermal spas is getting a £100million renovation

A TOWN on the edge of the Peak District is set to benefit from a huge £100million renovation plan.

Standing 300metres above sea level, Buxton is the highest market town in the country.

The project hopes to boost tourism in the market town, with residents currently having their say on the plans[/caption]

The Derbyshire spa town is famous for its geothermal springs, which have been attracting visitors for centuries.

Buxton could be set to increase its tourist offering thanks to a huge multi-million-pound regeneration plan.

The plan would see a shopping centre replaced with shops, bars and restaurants.

High Peak Borough Council purchased The Springs shopping centre for £6.6million back in 2022.

The council has now appointed Capital and Centric (a property company) to lead the project.

Tim Heatley, Capital and Centric co-founder, told the BBC: “The opportunity is massive of where it [Buxton] could be,” he said.

“It feels unnecessarily sleepy right now, but it is a bit of a sleeping giant in terms of how thriving it could be as a place to live, work, shop and hang out.”

Residents are currently being consulted about the huge renovation project, with some describing the plans as ‘fantastic’ to the BBC.

It is hoped the new project will boost tourism in the town.

Although, it is not yet known when planning approval will be granted or when construction work will start.

Until the new bars, shops and restaurants open in Buxton, there are plenty of attractions and activities for holidaymakers.

One of the town’s top attractions is its Pavilion Gardens.

The 23-acre park features landscaped gardens, ornamental lakes, and a variety of walking paths.

Other attractions include Buxton Opera House (an Edwardian theatre) and Poole’s Cavern (an underground cave).

There’s also St Ann’s Well, which has been famous for its natural mineral water for centuries.

Elsewhere in the UK, a former industrial site in Stoke-on-Trent is set to get a £60million revamp.

Work is already underway on the Goods Yard, a new urban neighbourhood in the city.

Its new public square will feature a tennis court, a walkway, hangout spaces, seating areas and over 70 trees and plants.

There will also be a space for pop-up markets and live music events, which both locals and holidaymakers will be able to visit.

Sun Travel's favourite UK seaside towns

AS part of our Best Of British travel series, The Sun’s travel team have picked our favourite UK seaside towns, featuring everything from dolphin-spotting beaches to celeb-favourite fish and chip shops.

Tynemouth, North Tyneside – Ryan Gray, Travel Reporter

The North East is a much-overlooked part of the country for seaside towns, with Tynemouth standing out among the best of the ones on offer.

Longsands Beach is, in my opinion, the finest family beach in the UK with its mile-long expanse of shoreline blessed with perfect golden sands, a deep inky-blue sea home to both seals and dolphins, and fantastic child-friendly food and entertainment a stone’s throw away.

While some locals will be scattered across the sand, or out surfing in the fresh North Sea water, plenty will also be found in Crusoe’s, a wonderful little cafe right on the beach, serving everything from breakfast to booze, making it the perfect stop for seaside refreshments.

The beach is overlooked by the spectacular Tynemouth Priory and Castle, a 2,000-year-old Anglo-Saxon monastery, looked after by English Heritage.

Every summer, the atmospheric ruins of the priory host the Mouth of the Tyne music festival, with previous headliners including Sam Fender, Elbow, Billy Ocean and Martha Reeves & The Vandellas.

Just a stone’s throw from the priory is the town centre, where quaint bars and restaurants are found alongside classic fish and chip shops, like Marshalls, rumoured to have been named after Jimi Hendrix, when the musician is said to have visited the chippy for a fish supper after performing in Newcastle back in the 1967. An unofficial blue plaque in the window of the fast food spot commemorates his visit.

Any visit to Tynemouth should be made at the weekend, in order to take in Tynemouth Market, hosted in the town’s Victorian Metro station every Saturday and Sunday.

Trinkets, street food and collectibles can be found laid out across a number of stalls within the ornate surroundings either side of the platforms.

Mousehole, Cornwall – Sophie Swietochowski, Assistant Travel Editor

Cornwall is saturated with unspoilt coastlines, but, unlike many of the overcrowded spots, the village of Mousehole, on the far southern tip (just below Penzance), has somehow retained its chocolate box charm.

The small sandy bay is crammed with weathered fishing boats and backed by pokey cafes and airy art galleries where seaside-inspired works hang from the walls.

For impeccable views of a wild sea and homemade grub, head to Rock Pool Cafe which sits atop a craggy cliff.

Order a hot chocolate, which is somewhat of a DIY experience, delivered to you on a board with a mug of piping hot milk and a tub of shaved chocolate shards in white, milk, or dark chocolate to melt into the milk.

There are some impressive coastal walks – but be warned it can be hilly.

You can read more of our favourite seaside towns, here.

Meanwhile, this is the smallest town in the UK – and it has a Michelin starred restaurant.

And this UK village has been compared to a 1940s film set.

“I’m really enjoying, we really get along and I’m so happy to have met her.”

Opening up about her TV future, Demi said she’s not ruled out an appearance on E4 reality show MIC.

“She’s on it at the moment, they’re filming right now.

“I watch a little bit here and there.”

Demi gushed: “She’s got a really good heart and that’s really hard to come across these days.

“Someone just so pure and innocent.”

‘Huge shock’ for community as ‘absolute gentleman’, 66, killed in two-car Westmeath crash & tributes pour after tragedy

TRIBUTES have flooded in for an “absolute gentleman” who was killed in a two-car collision in Co Westmeath yesterday morning.

Tom Walsh, 66, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on the N55 at The Pigeons, between Athlone and Ballymahon.

Tom Walsh sadly passed away in the crash[/caption]

The pensioner, from Ballymahon in Co Longford, was driving one of the two cars involved in the collision, and had a male passenger aged in his 80s with him.

He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene, and his body was taken to Tullamore Hospital, where a post-mortem will take place in due course.

Locals said Tom worked with a lot of local farmers and also did some maintenance work at Centre Parcs.

Fine Gael Councillor Paul Ross, who is a former Cathaoirleach of Longford County Council, described Tom as an absolute gentleman.

He said: ”Tom worked on a number of farms around the area and was very well known.

“There is huge shock in the Ballymahon area at this tragedy. We are all thinking of Tom and his friends at this time’’.

A Garda press office statement yesterday evening said the passenger in the car was also brought to Tullamore hospital to receive treatment for injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

The male driver of the other car, also in his 80s, was brought to hospital in Tullamore but his injuries, too, are not thought to be life-threatening.

A technical examination of the crash scene by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators was carried out yesterday afternoon.

The road, which was closed for several hours yesterday to allow those investigations take place, has since re-opened.

An incident room was set up at Athlone Garda Station in response to the fatal accident, and is being coordinated by the Garda Divisional Traffic Inspector.

Gardai have also issued a public appeal for any witnesses to the collision to come forward.

In a statement last night, a garda spokesperson said: “Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 10.15am and 11.15am are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardai.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Athlone Garda Station on 090 649 2600, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”

FATAL MAYO CRASH

Separately, a cyclist, aged in his 60s, has died almost four weeks after he was involved in a fatal collision near Knock Airport in Co Mayo.

The collision took place on the N17, the road between the airport and Charlestown, on Friday, February 28th.

The cyclist was found with life-threatening injuries at around 12:20pm.

He was rushed by ambulance to hospital but has sadly since passed away.

Gardai have urged any members of the public who may have information to come forward.

In a statement last night, a spokesperson said: “Any road users who were on the N17 in the area between 11:45am and 12:20pm and may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available to Gardai.
