Aldi to launch Dubai chocolate ice cream in Irish stores in just weeks – and it costs just €4.99
ALDI is set to launch a major Dubai chocolate ice cream treat in Irish stores in just weeks – and it costs just €4.99.
The dessert is set to be in stores across the country from mid-April.

Shoppers are desperate to nab the treat that in the last month alone had more than 6.6 million Google searches.
Dubai chocolate is a bar made of pistachio nuts and Kadayif pastry first created in 2021 in Dubai.
The original chocolate bar is not available in Ireland.
But a number of shops have begun selling their own version, including Graine Muillins, with prices ranging from €5 to €55.
It is made from milk chocolate and is filled with a sweet cream made from pistachios mixed with chopped knafeh and tahini paste.
The pastry took the world by storm in 2024 after being promoted on social media by influencers.
Aldi’s ice cream is made of a mix of chocolate and nutty pistachio pieces to create a crunchy ice cream experience, but it does not contain the kadayif.
Aldi chiefs said they’ll be stocking the new ice cream from mid-April for a limited time.
It will cost only €4.99 and is sure to fly off the shelves.
Lidl Ireland also launched its own version of the viral chocolate bar last month.
The bar has a thick chocolate coating and it’s filled with the traditional Arab dessert Knafeh.
The J.D. Gross Dubai-style chocolate comes in a 122g bar and it is the perfect choice for chocoholics who prefer cocoa over pistachio.
The luxurious bar often comes with a hefty price tag with a single bar costing €10 or more.
But Lidl is retailing at a bargain €4.99.
The much-anticipated treat landed in stores on March 20 but was quickly snapped up.
Lidl chiefs said the bar will “satisfy your sweet tooth with its premium quality and irresistible taste”.
A spokesperson for Lidl said: “This luxurious treat, known for its rich, velvety texture and unique pistachio flavours, is making waves for being both indulgent and exotic.
“Why travel thousands of miles when you can experience the luxury of Dubai right from your local Lidl store.”
THE HISTORY OF ALDI

The German discount supermarket chain came to Ireland in 1999.
Aldi’s first few shops opened in November 1999, with locations in Sandyford, Dublin, and Ballincollig, Cork.
By the mid-2000s, Aldi bosses had opened numerous stores, focusing on providing high-quality products at low prices.
As the recession hit 2008-2012, Aldi’s popularity grew as consumers became more price-conscious.
The supermarket giant continued it’s expansion in Ireland between 2013-2018, while refurbishing existing stores.
By 2018, Aldi had over 130 shops throughout the country.
The chain began to focus on expanding its range of Irish-made products and supporting local producers.
In 2023, Aldi had over 140 stores in Ireland.
The store invested in sustainability initiatives, such as reducing plastic packaging and increasing the availability of organic and eco-friendly products.
Aldi chiefs said: “At Aldi we are committed to supporting Irish suppliers. Developed in partnership with Bord Bia, Grow with Aldi is designed to help the very best Irish suppliers develop their brand.
“To date, we’ve invested €10 million in our Grow with Aldi development programme in a bid to find the very best Irish suppliers.
“As a result, for a limited time only there are over 47 new products, from 27 Irish suppliers available in store.”
Aldi have introduced technological advancements with self-checkout systems and contactless payment options.
