Ronan O’Gara hints at drastic career change as he admits struggling La Rochelle ‘might be better off without me’

RONAN O’GARA has hinted at a potential exit from La Rochelle after they slipped to a fifth defeat on the bounce.

The two-time European Champions Cup winners lost 26-21 to Racing 92 in the Top 14 at the weekend.

It was their third straight defeat in the league and leaves them in eighth place.

And speaking afterwards, O’Gara suggested the team could be “better off without me”.

The former Munster out-half – who is contracted until 2027 – said: “It’s a crisis, we have to accept it.

“We had an unacceptable first half for a Top 14 team, after the defeat in Lyon.

“It is my club, I’d like to fight for it, do what’s necessary.

“Rumours about Australia aren’t true. But, you have to ask yourself: are the players fighting for me, for the staff? Obviously today, no.

“There is no proof I can get the team out of this crisis, but I will fight.

“Maybe the message is not getting through. It’s a real option if the message is not getting through that it might be better without me.

“I haven’t lost confidence in myself, that’s for sure, but you need to ask the question.

“Can you imagine [what] the fans who watched that think?

“It’s not my rugby, it’s not my state of mind, it’s not my attitude, but the players represent me.

“Right now, there’s a disconnect.”

Their latest defeat came just days after he rubbished speculation linking him with the Australia head coach gig.

His name has been floated around the Wales job since Warren Gatland’s departure as well as the Wallabies gig upon Joe Schmidt’s exit later this year.

And while the Munster icon has previously spoken about feeling like ‘a Judas’ were he to renege on his current contract, he has not been shy in acknowledging that the Australian job would appeal to him.

However, speaking to Off the Ball Breakfast segment, he insisted he would be staying in France until the end of his contract.

He said: “You get enjoyment out of it even in tough times and it is tough at the moment.

“But the relationships aren’t strong if you change your behaviour then towards those people who have given me the possibility to shine at test level – if I wanted to do that.

“And I don’t want to do that yet because I feel like I’ve such unfinished business at La Rochelle so I’m going to be there until 2027.

“I’m not going to Australia, I’m not going to Wales. I’m locked in here and it’s important that people in La Rochelle understand that.”

They watched as The Traitors star Mollie Pearce was sent home by  Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean, Oti Mabuse and Ashley Banjo.

Dan Edgar was picked over Mollie after they both found themselves in the skate-off.

After Mollie’s elimination, fans have now branded Dancing On Ice a fix – raging that she was a better dancer compared to Dan, 34.

Taking to social media, one fan said: “Fix! Molly did so much better in the dance off !! They just love Dan why!”

A second fumed: “Love how ITV keeps advertising TOWIE with Dan trying to fix the vote.”

“I’m sitting here spitting feathers! And I’m allergic to feathers, but I’m that angry at this fix that I’m still spitting them,” said a third.

While fourth fan also commented on Anton Ferdinand’s score: “Here’s the thing. That was NOT worth 40. Apart from anything else you actually could NOT see Anton’s feet due to the smoke. Every year, the judges FIX the votes. Panel change please.”

A fifth vented: “Mollie got absolutely s****** over tonight by the gross overmarking of Dan and Anton.”

Mollie and her pro partner Colin were at the bottom of the leaderboard after being scored 35.5 out of 40 by the judges last night.

Meanwhile, Dan and Vanessa were in second place with 37.5 points before the viewer votes were added.

Dancing On Ice continues on ITV1 and ITVX.

The lively beach resort is bustling with fun attractions, breath-taking natural beauty and a selection of restaurants.

Visitors are spoiled for choice with numerous tours to explore Palanga.

Jono Basanavičius street is packed with cafes, restaurants and bars.

Palanga comes alive at night during the summer with numerous beach parties and busy nightclubs.

With Ryanair flights from Dublin starting from €35.85 in April, it makes for a perfect sunny getaway.

They said: “Of all the cities in Lithuania, Palanga is one of the most breathtaking and is most famous for its stunning resorts lining the shore of the Baltic Sea.”

Thriving with local tourism, Palanga is not overcrowded with international visitors.

The airline said: “The white sandy beaches and Palanga Pier are waiting for travellers to relax and unwind in Palanga.”

“These are some of the most famous beaches in the area because of their ideal location and fantastic weather.”

Top attractions include the Palanga Amber Museum, Birute Park, the Dog Museum, the Fountain of Yurate and Kastitis.

Ryanair chiefs added: “The easiest way to get around Palanga is by renting a car. Popular minibuses are also often used by tourists.”

“The best time to visit is during the summer to experience the street festivals and gorgeous maritime weather.”

Most people visit the main beach in Palanga, with the miles of sand split by the large L-shaped pier, first built in 1589.

Visitors took to TripAdvisor to rate their beach experience in Palanga.

One person said: “There are many places to go on Palanga Beach and lots of fun.

“We actually ventured onto the women’s beach (you can go nude) this year and it was pleasant; there are shopping kiosks for women as you walk to the beach. I did not go nude – and that was okay.”

Another said: “Nice sandy beach with soft sand. Long pier that goes far out into the sea.

“Very long pathway for bicycle and running that goes along the beach. Great forest line with dunes.”

One visitor shared: “Palanga’s white sandy beaches and postcard-perfect waves are great for relaxing and spending time with your family.

“If you go there on a weekday there is plenty room all along the beach, but weekends are more crowded and be prepared to have to share space.

“The one complaint I would have is the scarcity of lifeguards and the amount of cigarette butts in the sand.

“If you are lucky though, you may also find amber in the sand.”

While another added: “Not an Australian beach but super nice.

“We walked along it, saw many cute dogs, and lots of fun people.

“Flat water, smells amazingly fresh and has a good boardwalk along it in the forest nearby.”

How lost confidential memo about Princess Charlotte nearly ruined key royal moment

A FORMER royal aide has revealed how a major mishap occurred around the announcement for Princess Charlotte’s birth.

Jason Knauf, who worked for Prince William and Princess Kate, shared how he had accidentally lost the confidential details of the birth before it was due to be announced.

The former aide shared how he had written down the top secret information – which included Charlotte’s time of birth and weight – but he dropped it on the street.

He shared to 60 Minutes Australia: “We weren’t going to announce it for another couple of hours. And I had this piece of paper to go write this press release.

“I’m still out there with hundreds of journalists trying to have a game face, and then I couldn’t find the piece of paper, and I think I had dropped it somewhere on the street.

“But somewhere on that street the entire time was a piece of paper that said there had been a little princess born, what time and how much she weighed. It was one of those things, like, heart in mouth until we got to the announcement, and I got through it.”

When he was questioned as to whether he ever found the slip, he shared: “No, I never found it and neither did any of the media though. So that’s all that really mattered.”

Princess Kate and Prince William’s second child, Princess Charlotte was born on May 2, 2015 at 8.34am at St Mary’s Hospital.

She was brought into the world in the infamous Lindo Wing, and weighed 8lbs 3oz.

Princess Charlotte has won the hearts of royal fans around the globe thanks to her adorable personality and stylish looks.

The sassy and lovable youngster – now aged nine – may be the Prince and Princess of Wales’ only daughter, but she certainly holds her own around brothers.

From nailing her own little royal wave to delighting fans with her funny sayings, Princess Charlotte often steals the show.

Fans have also seen her grow into a sweet “mini-me” of mum, Kate Middleton.

The Sun’s royal photographer Arthur Edwards said: “When I see Princess Charlotte’s smile I instantly see the Queen.

“When the Queen smiles, everything always seems better in the world.”

Body language expert Judi James said the photo released for Princess Charlotte’s ninth birthday last year demonstrated her natural “leadership.”

Speaking to Fabulous, Judi said: “This is such a confident and grown-up look from Charlotte who has moved on from the childlike trait of standing straight and awkward in front of the camera and who has opted instead to strike a pose that looks assertive and relaxed, with a smile that is less of a fun grin and more of a signal of warmth and empathy.”

The body language professional added: “Her lean creates a series of body angles but the way she has chosen a high wall to lean her elbow on suggests a quiet desire to dominate and take the lead.

“The lifted arm also creates one pit-bare gesture that is another sign of confidence.”

Kate Middleton's 'golden rule' with George, Charlotte and Louis

KATE'S key rule for Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis is about kindness.

According to HELLO! Online’s Royal Correspondent: “Based on observations of photographs of Princess Diana at the time, and the current Princess of Wales, they are both very affectionate with their children.

“Kate is often seen holding her children’s hands or picking them up for cuddles when they were smaller.

“There are often lots of comforting gestures, such as a pat on the back or stroking their hair. When interacting with other children on her public engagements, Kate often crouches down to their level to engage with them – something that Diana would often do.”

When she’s at the family’s home of Adelaide Cottage in Windsor, despite her royal status, insiders say Kate is just like any other “normal mum”.

A friend explained that behind closed doors, the 43-year-old is “very chilled at home” but definitely not a pushover and will tell the kids off when needed.

They told PEOPLE: “It’s a normal, busy family home with kids running around and knocking things over. There’s no airs and graces.

“She is doing that to help her children be more grounded and keep their reality in check. That’s what really matters to her.”
