Hit Netflix drama with near-perfect Rotten Tomatoes score ‘facing the axe’ after just two series following major clue

A HIT Netflix drama with a near-perfect Rotten Tomatoes score is ‘facing the axe’ after just two series.

The show released its second series last month – following the first instalment from 2022.

Spy adventure The Recruit stars Noah Centineo as Owen Hendricks, a newly hired CIA lawyer.

The show has proved popular among viewers – with an 80% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

After just two series, however, The Recruit’s future could be in jeopardy.

It faced competition from fellow spy drama The Night Agent as well as romantic comedy XO Kitty.

As of yet, The Recruit has not been renewed beyond series two.

But The Night Agent and The Diplomat – both of which debuted later than The Recruit – have been confirmed to return for a third outing.

According to What’s On Netflix, the show had around two million less viewers in series two compared to series one.

Showrunner Alexi Hawley, however, remains optimistic about The Recruit’s future.

He told Deadline: “We’re waiting for Netflix to officially do their thing with it.

“There’s a lot of goodwill inside Netflix towards the show and towards Noah; I think they very much feel like Noah is a homegrown star, which he is.

“So, I’m feeling super positive about it, as positive as you can feel in this town at this time.”

Further main cast members include Aarti Mann, Colton Dunn, Fivel Stewart, Kristian Braun and Vondie Curtis-Hall.

Before The Recruit, Noah Centineo starred in The Fosters from 2015 to 2018.

He took over the role of Jesus Adams Foster beginning with series three.

The 28-year-old rose to further prominence by playing Peter Kavinsky in Netflix‘s romantic comedy film series To All The Boys.

Starring alongside Lana Condor, the plot followed a shy teenage girl who writes letters to boys she’s had crushed on.

Centineo reprised the role of Peter, as a guest star, in the second series of TV spin-off XO Kitty.

The Recruit is available to watch on Netflix.

The cute denim dress has short sleeves, a button down collar and two pockets.

Dunnes Stores chiefs said the denim dress is perfect for a “stylish night-out look”.

They said: “This shirt dress from Savida is crafted from a soft and durable cotton denim.

“Cut to a mini length, it is designed with a classic collar, a three button placket, and two patch pockets.

“Pair it with tights and boots for an effortlessly stylish night-out look. Savida is available exclusively at Dunnes Stores.”

Retailing at €40, it’s a dress you will keep reaching for again and again.

Style it with a belt and runners for a causal look or team with heeled boots and tights for a night out.

Shoppers will need to be quick as it appears to be flying out of stock online.

However, your size may still be available in your local store.

Fashion lover Zoe, who posts under @zoepalmerpalmer, took to TikTok to show off the dress.

She joked: “Dunnes stores can just take my money at this point.”

Zoe styled the dress with black tights, a black belt and boots.

She said: “I just feel for work or for the weekend, this is such a versatile dress.”

The TikToker said she was “very excited about this dress” and it’s a “class” look.

Another item selling out quickly is their famous Contour Leggings.

One shopper has taken to social media to share a look at the must-have leggings.

TikTok user Rhianna Bolton shared a video to the platform for her followers.

At the beginning of the clip, she can be seen holding up a large Dunnes Stores shopping bag.

Rhianna said: “I got my leggings from there yesterday — these were €15 and are contour leggings.

“They really really cinch you in, they’re so flattering and really soft. I really like them.”

She explained that the only thing she doesn’t like about them is the length at the ankles, adding that she just folds them up.

Why police were called to first Dunnes Stores opening

BETWEEN the weekly food shops and bargain fashion - Dunnes Stores is a staple retailer in Irish households.

But this wasn’t always the case, and when the initial branch of the shop opened its doors in 1944 it caused quite the stir

On March 31 of the year, Ben Dunne opened the first ever Dunnes Stores on St Patrick’s Street in Co Cork

Locals quickly learned of the grand opening and flooded into the store in what the retailer’s archives recall as a “shopping frenzy.”

The bargain clothing on sale inside the new store at “pre-war prices” was one of the factors cited for the buzz.

During the chaos a window was forced in and Gardai were called to the scene.

Cops worked to deal with the eager crowds and keep shoppers calm and safe before they made it into the store for their first Dunnes experience.

Fast forward some 80 years, the business now employs over 18,000 people and although an opening of a Dunnes branch hasn’t caused quite as much stir since the very first one, it has cemented its place as one of the nation’s leading retailers

Dunnes Stores now has 138 stores across Europe:

  • 118 in the Republic of Ireland,
  • 15 in Northern Ireland
  • Five stores in Spain

Britain’s Got Talent in new ‘fix’ row as viewers slam show over TWO international acts

BRITAIN’S Got Talent has been plunged into a new ‘fix’ row, with viewers fuming over two international acts making it through the auditions.

Sunday night’s episode featured Filipino dance troupe Obsequious and Japanese comedian Akira Ohashi, both of whom wowed the judges and audience.

Akira, who performed various tricks with just a tray to cover his modesty, has already found fame in Japan – clocking up millions of YouTube engagements for his racy videos.

Meanwhile, Obsequious boast 66,000 Facebook followers and have won championships including the World Supremacy Battlegrounds, WSB Asia PH, Battlegrounds PH Luzon, WSB Asia International and Champions Tour Cell championships.

While many fans praised their performances, others took to social media to question why the acts weren’t from the UK.

The show has never hidden the fact that auditions are open to everyone, regardless of experience or nationality, with all contestants given the same chance to impress the judges and viewers.

However, some fans were less than pleased, with one writing under a post on the show’s official Instagram: “What’s the point in calling it ‘Britain’s’ Got Talent?”

Another added: “BRITAIN’S Got Talent???!!” while a third quipped: “Welcome to Global Got talent.”

Over on X, formerly Twitter, one viewer fumed: “Once again it should be called worlds got talent ! Keep it British.”

Another echoed: “BGT another year of effing dog dancing, dance troops, bloke that can sing a bit, some scary shit and the dumbest studio audience ever.”

But not everyone was unhappy, with plenty of fans defending the international contestants.

One posted: “They were incredible! Who cares where they’re from? Talent is talent.”

Another said: “BGT has always had worldwide acts – this isn’t new. Let’s just enjoy great performances.”

A third added: “The best acts should go through no matter where they come from. End of.”

Despite the backlash, the show has a long history of welcoming talent from across the globe, with past winners including Canadian magician Eric Chien and American comedian Viggo Venn.

A source said: “BGT has amassed a global fanbase with over 24 billion views of content across their social media channels, so it naturally attracts talent from across the world, who use the show as a platform to showcase their act to a massive audience.

“BGT is and has always been an inclusive show and it welcomes acts to take part from around the world.”
