Fleeces are perfect to layer over an outfit for a cosy look, or the best thing to wear over your gym gear.

And another great find has hit the shelves.

The Contrast Trim Zip Thru Fleece is selling for just €20.

It is available in sizes XS to XXL, and luckily for shoppers all of the sizes are still in stock online.

The cream-coloured fleece has a zip up the centre and a high collar.

For a bit of a pop of colour for spring, it features a yellow lining at the zip, across the middle and at the hem.

Recently another fleece release sent fashion fans racing to the tills.

The Essential Half Zip Fleece is available in stores across the country or online.

The soft fleece has a high collar, quarter-zip and pockets.

Dunnes Stores bosses said the fleece has a “relaxed fit”.

They said: “This cosy fleece is designed with contrasting trims for an eye-catching look.

“Cut to a relaxed fit, it features a funnel neck for added warmth, a half-zip fastening, two zip pockets for your essentials, and a drawstring hem for an adjustable fit.”

Retailing for just €15, it’s a piece you will keep turning to all year long.

The cosy fleece, available in sizes XS to XXL, comes in a midnight purple or grey-pink combination.

It’s the perfect fleece for lounging or keeping cosy on walks.

Meanwhile, other shoppers are hoping to get their hands on a new waistcoat that is ideal for layering.

The Knitted Button Through Waistcoat is a bargain, selling for just €20.

Shoppers can grab the piece in two colours – either grey or oatmeal.

The waistcoat comes in sizes XS to XXL, and is very versatile.

The short-sleeved item has a plunging V-neckline, perfect for spring.

It is made from a ribbed polyester and viscose material, with large buttons up the centre.

In the official item description on the Dunnes Stores website, fashion chiefs wrote: “Crafted in a soft knit, this sleeveless cardigan features a textured ribbed design and a flattering v-neckline.

“The button-through front adds a classic touch, perfect for layering over shirts or styling solo.”

THE HISTORY OF DUNNES STORES

DUNNES Stores opened its first store on Patrick Street in Cork in 1944 - and it was an instant hit.

Shoppers from all over the city rushed to the store to snap up quality clothing at pre-war prices in Ireland’s first ‘shopping frenzy’.

During the excitement, a window was forced in and the police had to be called to help control the crowds hoping to bag founder Ben Dunne’s ‘Better Value’ bargains.

Dunnes later opened more stores in the 1950s and began to sell groceries in 1960 – starting with apples and oranges.

The retailer said: “Fruit was expensive at the time and Ben Dunne yet again offered Better Value than anyone else in town.

“Over time, our food selection has grown and that spirit of good value has remained strong.

“Now we offer a wide range of carefully-sourced foods from both local Irish suppliers and overseas.”

The retailer’s first Dublin store opened its doors in 1957 on Henry Street and a super store on South Great Georges Street was unveiled in 1960.

They added: “In 1971, our first Northern Irish store opened, and many others soon followed.

“Expansion continued in the 1980s in Spain, and later into Scotland and England.”

Dunnes now has 142 stores and employs 15,000 people.

‘I found out when you did’ – Venus Williams embarrasses tennis tournament chiefs as she publicly snubs wildcard offer

TENNIS icon Venus Williams will NOT play at Indian Wells this year – despite being announced as a wildcard.

Last week, tournament directors announced that Williams would be returning to California for the event after being granted a pass into the main draw.

However, the former world No1 publicly rejected the offer on Sunday, claiming she had no idea that she had even been given a wildcard until it was publicly revealed.

Williams explained: “No, I’m not playing. Actually, I found the announcement super amusing because, I don’t know, people seem to be happy.

“So I was like, ‘maybe I’ll just go with it, I don’t know.’

“I’m actually not going. I’m going to be overseas. I’m not going to be [there]. … I just had a player text me today too, like, ‘Can you play doubles?’

“I’m not playing. I found out about the wildcard when you guys did.

“Just saying. And I love Indian Wells, I would love to be there and if I could have accepted it, I would have been like, yes. But I already made commitments.”

Indian Wells tournament director Tommy Haas has now backtracked on the initial announcement, confirming that Williams is not due to play.

He said: “Our team has been informed that Venus is not accepting the wildcard this year.

“We wish Venus all the best and hope to see her back in Indian Wells in the future.”
