Coronation Street fans left furious and say ‘it’s a disgrace’ as soap bosses look set to kill off ANOTHER show legend

CORONATION Street viewers have been left outraged as they fear that another iconic character is being written out in a shock soap twist.

Julie Carp – who is played by actress Katy Cavanagh in the ITV soap – made a shock return to the cobbles after 10 years last week.

Fans are up in arms as speculation mounts over a shocking soap exit – but will this beloved character really be saying goodbye for good?[/caption]

Fans were confused when Julie seemed desperate to leave Weatherfield before coming face to face with her sister Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver).

But last night’s episode revealed that she has good reason – and it’s heartbreaking.

Having run into nephew Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) at the hotel and accidentally left her luggage behind for Todd to take home, Julie snuck into Eileen’s house to retrieve it.

Catching her and wondering why she was being so cagey, Todd opened her bag and pulled out a bag of pills.

“I’m sorry, I had no idea,” said George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) as he picked up Julie’s medical pack.

Todd, took and looked before saying: “Cancer?”

As Eileeen began to come in Julie begged them to keep quiet about what they’d discovered.

Instead she plastered on a smile and went to lunch with her sister, trying to cover up that she’d been in Weatherfield for a few days already.

After a few run-ins, Julie got through it and made her excuses to leave – insisting she had to leave for work.

Todd took her back to her hotel and they sat down to talk and she told him the truth of what happened.

“Sarcoma,” she told him.

“That’s what the cancer’s called. It started in the soft tissue around my stomach.”

And sadly she told Todd it was terminal.

“It’s stage four, it’s spread to my liver and lungs,” she said. “The chemo can slow it down but it can’t cure it.”

Most devastating soap deaths

SOAP viewers are frequently left heartbroken after watching some of their favourite characters bite the dust.

Here is a list of the most devastating deaths that have taken place in soapland over the years.

EASTENDERS

Barry Evans – Evil Janine (Charlie Brooks) lured her trusting fiance to Scotland for a quickie marriage after learning he was dying.

Her plan to inherit Barry’s fortune was thwarted when Barry told her that the doctors had mixed up his medical files.

Furious that she was no longer set for a windfall, she pushed Barry off a cliff after telling him their love was “fake”.

Bradley Branning – Bradley was accused of killing Stacey Slater’s rapist Archie Mitchell (Larry Lamb) after he punched him twice on the night he died.

He was spotted in the Square by a police woman who chased him up a fire escape.

Bradley lost his balance and tragically plunged to his death.

CORONATION STREET

Tina McIntyre – Tina was getting it on with Peter Barlow – despite him being married to Carla Connor.

When she threatened to reveal the truth, Carla’s brother Rob got into a physical altercation with her.

Tina lost her footing and fell off a balcony – then warned Rob she was going to tell the cops he pushed her.

In a panic, Rob brutally clobbered her over the head with a metal pipe.

Molly Dobbs – Molly was one of the victims in Corrie’s 2010 tram crash, alongside Ashley Peacock (Steven Arnold).

Married to Tyrone (Alan Halsall), Molly had been having an affair with Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) in the months before her death.

This resulted in the birth of their son, Jack (Kyran Bowes), who was named after Jack Duckworth.

As fate would have it, Kevin’s wife Sally (Sally Dynevor) was by Molly’s side in her final moments.

Sally was stunned as Molly confessed Kevin was Jack’s father, before dying of her injuries.

Vera Duckworth – Having appeared regularly in Corrie since the 1970s, there was no denying Vera Duckworth was an iconic character.

Alongside her husband Jack, the pair formed one of the soap’s most beloved couples.

Viewers were heartbroken when Vera was killed off in 2008, being discovered having passed away peacefully in her chair.

Liz Dawn, who played Vera, made a brief return two years later for Bill Tarmey’s exit as Jack.

Paul Foreman – Fans were heartbroken when Paul Foreman succumbed to his illness after battling motor neurone disease.

Introduced in 2018 as David Platt’s (Jack P. Shepherd) cellmate, he later embarked on a romance – and marriage – with vicar Billy Mayhew.

The MND storyline was announced in 2023 – with the expectation it would result in the character’s death.

EMMERDALE

Sarah Sugden – After the family got into financial problems, Sarah’s son Andy (Kelvin Fletcher) decided to make some quick cash from an insurance company by setting fire to the Sugden barn.

He didn’t realise his mum was inside the building, and she got trapped in the blaze.

Nine villagers – The shocking 1993 plane crash episode brought in 18 million viewers for Emmerdale.

Mark Hughes was killed by a falling wall, Archie Brooks was burned by jet fuel, Elizabeth Pollard was killed by debris and newcomer Leonard Kempinski died in a car crash caused by the crash.

Five other non-recurring characters from the village also died.

HOLLYOAKS

Carmel McQueen – The talented singer died in shocking scenes when a train crashed into a her family’s car.

Carmel managed to free her cousin Theresa from the rubble – but got stuck in it herself.

Moments later the train exploded and Carmel died in the arms of her family members, promising to be their guardian angel.

A tearful Todd said: “Oh Julie. Have they said how long you’ve got?”

“If I’m lucky I’ll see this summer,” she said.

“Now you know why I didn’t want to stay. Last thing you need is me killing the vibes.

“There’s no point crying about it. I’ve just got to make the most of the time I’ve got left.

“I’m seeing some specialists in alternative palliative care, that’s why I’m here. It might buy me a few months but that’s it.”

Todd begged her to tell his mum but Julie insisted on keeping it a secret.

She told him: “I’ve been perfectly fine by myself up until now. I don’t mean to burden her.

“I want her to remember me how I was, not how I’ll become. Can you give me that?”

Furious Corrie fans have taken to social media fearful bosses will kill off the iconic character and blasted the decision.

They called it a “disgrace” and accused the soap of ruining the cobbles’ legacy.

Taking to X – formerly Twitter – one fan fumed: “Bringing back Julie just too kill her off. Unbelievable.”

Another raged: “Well done Corrie – two episodes in and you’ve successfully and irreparably ruined Julie’s comeback story. We’re honestly speechless after tonight’s development.”

A third said: “The decision to kill off Julie is a disgrace! The abysmal hospital set looms large.”

A fourth chimed in: “I don’t understand why Corrie has brought back a character that could bring so much fun and happiness to the street when it desperately needs it! but they have of course made her sick and given her a a depressing storyline. GIVE US SOME LIGHT PLEASE!!! justice for Julie!!”

The character debuted on-screen on 25th April 2008 and was originally introduced as a new girlfriend of established character Kirk Sutherland (Andy Whyment).

In a later storyline she was revealed to be Eileen Grimshaw’s (Sue Cleaver) half-sister.

Will the beloved character really be saying goodbye for good?

I work in Tesco, the best Zara dupes have dropped including identical copy of the sold out contrast waistband trousers

A TESCO employee has shared a glimpse of the new Spring fashion collection and claims it’s worth running for.

Lacey Louise, from the UK, took to social media to let fashionistas know what they can get in stores, including a dupe of the viral Zara waistband trousers.

In the clip, she said: “Guys, I’m just at work and we have so many cute new in bits in F&F, so I’m gonna show you all my new favourites.”

She first showed off an adorable off-the-shoulder jumper in baby pink.

But it was the next buy that had Lacey really excited.

She showed off the new trousers available in the stores as she said ‘They’re literally giving Zara.’

Last year fashion fans went wild for Zara’s wide-leg trousers that came with a contrasting white waistband and tie.

Fashion influencer, Immy Timbrell took to TikTok last year raving about the Zara trousers and was so impressed she picked up the black and beige pair.

“They are a need,” wrote Marnida Wes regarding the Zara pants.

Unfortunately, the £29.99 trousers were so popular that they are no longer available to buy.

But as the Tesco worker points out, you can now purchase a dupe of them from the supermarket.

And the best part is that they are a fraction of the price at just £18 and come in two colour ways – beige or black.

You can also pick a matching top to go with the stylish pants.

A casual collared white T-shirt to match the waistband of the trousers makes a perfect daytime look and is just £12.50 to buy.

Lacey said: “Love this little set. I think she’s really cute.”

“OBSESSED, girlies RUN to F&F Tesco so many cute bits,” she captioned the post.

How has Tesco's F&F upped its game

By Fabulous’ Fashion Editor Clemmie Fieldsend

ZARA has become a high street staple in recent years thanks to its hot-off-the-catwalk designs and affordable prices.
But recently those prices have risen with the brand’s popularity.
However, if you are looking for high fashion inspired outfits with low price tags you needn’t drag yourself to your local shops, just head to the supermarket instead.
F&F has come a long way from selling a few backs of T-shirts and fluffy dressing gowns and is now a must have shopping destination for thousands.
They produce good quality, long lasting and on trend clothes that puts others to shame.
F&F is filled with Zara dupes and other looks inspired by our favourite shops that will set you back less than £50 – and you can get them while you pick up your dinner.
I for one love F&F denim, it’s durable, fits really well and has all the best silhouettes.
So even if you’re not looking for reasonable prices but just want good clothes, get yourself to Tesco.

Social Media Reaction

The clip soon went viral on her TikTok account @lacey.louise.xo with over 74k views and 33k likes.

People were quick to take to the comments revealing they were heading to their local store ASAP.

One person wrote: “Never thought I’d say this but I have found a lot of clothes that are way nicer and in style in George Asda and F&F Tesco compared to H&M and Primark.”

Another commented: “I’ll take one of everything in an 8-10 please. I’m gutted they took away their clothing delivery. We don’t have a big Tesco locally.”

“You’re doing God’s work thank you,” penned a third.

Meanwhile a fourth said: “Wow so many nice things.”

“Love Tesco clothes so much,” claimed a fifth.

Someone else added: “Which Tesco!! I’ve been looking for that black set with the white details everywhere.”

He joined the show in 2008 but sadly quit in 2012.

David’s final episode aired in 2012 and he later shared a message online, thanking fans for their support.

He said in a tweet: “Just wanted to say thanks to all my fans out there for your continued support throughout the years. Truly wouldn’t be where I am without you guys.”

David is now a property developer, and has a passion for cooking.

Often sharing cookery videos on social media, David has been branded as the “hottest chef in America”.

Some comments from his fans on his recent posts on Instagram swoon over the former soap star, touching on his cookery skills and good looks.

One recent comment reads: “Looking delicious, sauce looks good too.”

Another said: “Perfect chef skills.”

While a third comment read: “Oh my goodnesss the hair!!!!! Yesss chef!!!”

The former soap star states on social media that he is a “property developer/owner” and even links his Airbnb listing.

The listing on Airbnb is for a Sunrise Desert Oasis home in California, which sleeps six guests in two bedrooms with three beds.

With a desert view and a hot tub, the relaxing abode is only a 30-minute drive from Joshua Tree National Park.

But David’s life since leaving Home and Away hasn’t been all desert views and cooking up a storm.

Neighbours stars who made it big

The long-running Aussie soap has launched the careers of some of Hollywood's biggest stars. Here are some of the Neighbours alums who went on to make it big after starring on the soap...

Kylie Minogue

  • Before she hit the big time with her music career, Kylie shot to fame playing Charlene Mitchell on Neighbours. Shortly after her arrival, Kylie began an on and off-screen romance with co-star Jason Donovan, who played Scott Robinson, which gained the couple an army of adoring fans.

Jason Donovan

  • After his stint as Scott, singer and actor Jason became an international popstar and had his pick acting of roles. He moved to the U.K., married, had children and has since starred in over a dozen West End show, most notably Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat.

Alan Dale

  • New Zealand born actor Alan was one of Neighbours 12 original cast members having made his debut as Jim Robinson on the soap’s first episode on 18 March 1985. As the head of the Robinson clan, widower Jim lived at Number 26 Ramsay Street with his children Paul, Julie, Scott and Lucy, and was a real anchor in the community. He stayed with the show for eight years, before his character was killed off in dramatic scenes aired in 1993 but which still reverberate through the soap to this day.

Margot Robbie

  • Way before she was Barbie or Harley Quinn, Margot was best known as Ramsay Street resident Donna Freedman. Her notable storylines included her marriage to Ringo Brown and becoming a young widow following his tragic death. After three years she bid farewell to the soap and Australia with a plan to make a name for herself in Hollywood which she did when she bagged the role of Naomi Lapaglia opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in The Wolf of Wall Street.

Jesse Spencer

  • Jesse rocked up on Ramsay street in 1994 with the rest of the Kennedy clan. He stayed for five years, literally growing up in front of the camera, but in 2000 felt it was time to spread his wings and head for Hollywood. It was certainly a smart move as he went on to bag leading roles in popular shows like House and Chicago Fire.

Russell Crowe

  • New Zealand-native Russell had a brief arc on Neighbours, appearing in four episodes of the soap 1987 as Kenny Larkin, the former cellmate of Street resident Henry Ramsay. The role obviously got him noticed though because he quickly went on to become a fully-fledged Hollywood A-lister, winning the Best Actor Oscar for his standout performance as Roman General Maximus Decimus Meridius in Gladiator.

In 2018, six years after his soap departure, David said how he was “lucky to be alive” after being involved in a horror smash.

Riding home on his motorbike, a car allegedly pulled out onto Melrose Avenue and David crashed into the car’s passenger side.

Speaking about the crash at the time, David said: “I tried to get around him, but I hit the back passenger’s side of the car and went flying.”

He explained how a firefighter on the scene said that he “should be dead” after the horror smash, with him even rushed into surgery.

Suffering a bad leg injury, David had to have surgery in 48 hours or he would risk not being able to walk again.

“But I’m alive,” he told New Idea at the time, saying how “it could have been worse”.

The Biggest Problem With ‘Sakamoto Days’ Is Just How Blindly It Has Been Following the Original Manga Panels

It’s been a while since the Sakamoto Days anime adaptation started airing and since day 1 it got plenty of harsh criticisms blaming its animation, but honestly, it’s not that bad! However, the real issue lies somewhere else. The studio has been adapting the manga a […]

Docs said my hubby couldn’t walk down the aisle after footy injury but the heartbreaking news started our £100m business

WHEN Liv Ferdi, 35, was told her fiancé would be on crutches and non-ambulatory on their big day, her heart shattered.

The couple wouldn’t even be able to walk down the aisle together after saying ‘I do’, let alone have a first dance in front of their nearest and dearest.

The couple turned their misfortune into a lucrative business idea… and now they’re CBD industry leaders[/caption]

Dan Khoury, 37, had suffered a debilitating injury during Sunday morning football, which saw him tear his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), one of the key connective tissues in the knee that helps stabilise it.

Widely touted as the worst injury you can get from playing football, Dan needed intense knee surgery just weeks before their wedding in 2018.

After the operation, he was to be on strict bed rest with metal poles in his leg and only moving around for short periods of time with the help of crutches.

It was this crisis that inadvertently led them to set up Trip, the UK’s leading CBD brand that’s on a mission to make drinks infused with cannabidiol truly mainstream.

“We were going to tuxedo and wedding dress fittings and the staff were like ‘I don’t know what you expect us to do, we can’t fit a tuxedo over his leg’,” Liv recalls for Fabulous’ exclusive series, Bossing It.

The couple, who are teenage sweethearts, weren’t ready to give up on their dream wedding.

They began desperately researching ways to speed up Dan’s recovery – and that’s when they stumbled upon CBD after being told about it by a family friend based in the US.

CBD (officially known as cannabidiol) is a chemical found naturally in cannabis plants, which can be extracted via steam distillation and transformed into many forms, including oils and capsules.

Its benefits are widely touted: it is scientifically proven to alleviate stress and muscle aches, as well as aid sleep and even relieve the side effects of cancer treatment.

Despite being derived from cannabis plants, it is non-psychoactive, doesn’t cause a high and you can’t become addicted to it.

Dan ordered a bottle of CBD oil from the internet and began consuming it every day after his knee operation, as well as rubbing it topically on the injured area.

The product not only reduced swelling, but eased his pain and helped him sleep easier, which is key for recovering after such an intense injury.

Amazingly, Dan was up and walking seven weeks after his ACL surgery, which is half of what the NHS estimates it can take.

“We surprised everyone by not having to cancel our wedding,” Liv says. “Dan wasn’t just hobbling down the aisle either, he danced the night away with no pain. It was bonkers.”

Where to buy Trip drinks

Trip products are sold in Sainsbury's, Co-op, Morrisons, Asda, Superdrug, Holland & Barret and Boots. You can also purchase directly from the brand's website.

Against all odds, he was the last man standing on the dancefloor that night.

This mini miracle is what led the newlyweds Liv and Dan to found Trip, which is famed for its flagship fizzy drinks infused with CBD oil and other stress-busting ingredients.

You might have seen the drinks in your local supermarket – they come in pretty pastel cans with a ‘peace up’ sign on the front.

This girly design is deliberate, says Liv.

Back in the day, CBD oil was super hard to understand. It looked illicit. The bottles covered in green leaves, or pictures of dragons or monkeys

Liv Ferdi

“I started taking CBD drops after Dan,” she explains. “But back in the day, the oil was super hard to understand – it was brown liquid, in brown bottles, with a horrible earthy taste.

“The taste would stay in your mouth like all day and was not something I could have on my desk or talk to people about.

“It looked illicit. They were covered in green leaves, or pictures of dragons or monkeys.”

The pair realised that there was an opportunity to bring CBD into the mainstream, in a way that didn’t feel intimidating for someone to dip their toe in.

Trip launched in September 2019 and soon became the fastest growing food and beverage company in the UK over the last 16 years[/caption]

“Three months after the wedding, we told our parents as newlyweds that we’re going to do something in this space,” Liv recalls.

“We told them that we’re going to make a drink with these ingredients and it’s going to change how people feel – and we’re going to help people feel calmer, less stressed and happier.”

Liv and Dan pumped all of their life savings into Trip to get it off the ground.

Over the course of the first year, they injected around £25,000 into the dream – and didn’t even pay themselves a wage.

Do I feel like I’m bossing it? I’m definitely making it up as I go along

Liv Ferdi

“We had a bit of savings from our careers, which were corporate, fairly well paid city careers,” Liv explains.

“We started everything quite small, so we had to find the one person that would make our product on the smallest possible run of 10,000 cans initially.”

She designed the can on the back of an envelope one afternoon and then found a local designer who could bring it to life.

The brand launched in September 2019 and soon became the fastest growing food and beverage company in the UK over the last 16 years.

By October, Trip secured a listing with Planet Organic and began negotiations with Selfridges.

This was the push that Liv needed to pause her legal career, following the suit of Dan who had already left his finance job.

They soon expanded the range from just single-serve drinks to a line of CBD oils.

When the pandemic hit in March 2020, demand rocketed and Trip’s direct-to-consumer sales rose by 420% in the space of a month.

We’re not here to tell you how to live your life, or here to tell you how to spend your time. We’re just trying to give out one billion moments of calm

Liv Ferdi

Trip raised £10 million in venture capital in 2022, and passed sales of £20 million in the year to February 2024.

The brand is yet to file full accounts at Companies House for its last financial year, but annual revenues are understood to be in excess of £20 million, according to The Grocer.

The most recent valuation of the company sits above £100 million, with Liv and Dan’s mission to deliver “one billion people a moment of calm”.

This is partly thanks to Trip’s latest release of Mindful Blends drinks.

Trip’s new Mindful Blends drinks went viral on social media at the start of 2025[/caption]

These drinks have gone viral on social media at the start of 2025, with over 3.5 billion TikTok searches combined.

The new cans contain 120mg of magnesium citrate, which is touted for its ability to support the nervous system and convert certain amino acids into happy hormones.

Even before the official Mindful Blends launch, the products generated a major buzz on social media, totting up over one million views on TikTok.

“Do I feel like I’m bossing it? I’m definitely making it up as I go along,” Liv adds.

“But I’m staying really close to the customer and people who feel something from our brand and listening to that.

“We’re not here to tell you how to live your life, or here to tell you how to spend your time. We’re just trying to give out one billion moments of calm.”
