Peter Wright reveals he dreamed of being a STRONGMAN and even had a gym in his garage as a kid before becoming darts ace

PETER WRIGHT admits he could have been a STRONGMAN instead of darts world champion.

The seven-times Major winner reckons he was closer to pumping iron than pumping his opponents on the oche.

Peter Wright celebrates winning his second-round darts match.

‘Snakebite’, 54, reveals that he loved bodybuilding just as much as hitting bullseyes before taking up the arrows and ruling the world.

On first seeing darts, he said: “I just watched it as a kid, just on TV, watching the likes of Jocky Wilson, Cliff Lazarenko, and all them guys, and Eric Bristow.

“I just thought: ‘oh, there’s something in this. I like it’, you know?

“But I just stopped watching it on the TV. It wasn’t on much, but when it was, I watched it.

“I used to watch The Strongest Man in the World as well. Because I used to work out when I was younger. So it was either darts or Strongman. That would have been great.

“I just used to come back from school, and I used to have a lot of parents who just brought me like a little gym in the garage.

“I just used to work out there and then go for like three mile runs. That’s when I was fit. There’s still time to transition.”

Wright has vowed to lose a couple of stone in weight to help him get back to the top of the sport.

He told the Tops and Tales podcast: “We’re just getting our gym and everything sorted. In a couple of months, I’ll be getting in there and sorting myself out.

“Because I think Nathan Aspinall’s got a gym at home, he was saying as well to me, Michael Smith and Gerwyn Price.

“You’ve got to look after yourself if you want to be in the game longer.”

Wright is back in action on stage in the UK Open in Minehead on Friday – as he bids to regain the first major title he won in 2017.

Max, 36, was admitted to A&E last December and had heart surgery and a pacemaker fitted after doctors discovered a heart block, which caused his heart to beat abnormally.

Yet in January, he had to undergo a secret second heart operation after his pacemaker wires were inserted too deeply.

Despite the tour cancellation, which left fans begging for information, the All Time Low vocalist appears in good spirits.

He captured himself in a topless snap in his house, donning a huge pair of earphones as he stood in front of his mirror.

In the next slide, his home treadmill can be seen in the living room near to his laptop on a table.

He held up a bottle of Prime drink as he strolled in a brisk walk.

The scenes will no doubt reassure fans after his recent medical woes.

OPENING UP

Speaking to The Sun on Sunday recently, Max opened up about his health and scary second operation.

“I was trying to get back to good health but was still having a flickering sensation for weeks after I had my pacemaker fitted and it was gradually getting worse and worse.

“When my heart rate went up, it was causing a shock in my heart which was making me jump all the time.

“My chest was shaking,” he added.

After several visits to the hospital, it was only when a representative from Max’s pacemaker company Medtronic was visiting the ward by chance, that they were able to get to the bottom of his discomfort.

He was booked in for his second operation straight away, on January 15, but was warned that the rare situation could cause a dangerous bleed on his heart.

But the operation went well and he was “pleased it had gone successfully”.

He later told fans he was hoping to be back to his old self in a few weeks.

Shoppers run to Asda as ‘comfiest’ bra that supports big boobs spotted in sale for £1.50

GOOD underwear can be hard to come by – especially if you’re shopping on a budget.

So it’s no wonder Asda fans are currently flocking to the supermarket after finding the “comfiest” bra on sale for just £1.50.

Two-pack, size XL, non-wired, soft and comfy bras.

One bargain hunter was the first to spread the word after she spotted a twin pack of the seamfree underwear in her local Asda for 70 per cent off.

Posting in the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group, which boasts 2.6million members, she said: “2 pack soft and comfy non-wired (removable pads). £10, scanned at £3.00 Asda.”

And with that working out at just £1.50 per bra, what’s not to love?

If you want to avoid being poked by annoying underwire but can’t usually get bras without it, it might be the perfect solution too.

The savvy shopper picked up the size XL in the burgundy and cream set, which Asda bosses say suits a size 20-22.

The non-wired bras are described as “soft and comfy” and are non-wired with removable pads.

The pretty ribbed lingerie also come with a thick double lining, which can add extra support for big boobs.

They are available in sizes XS (4-6) to 2XL (24-26).

But as with all sale items, once they’re gone, they’re gone – so you’ll have to be quick to bag them.

So it’s unsurprising that shoppers are racing to their nearest supermarket to track down the sale goodies

One gushed: “That’s great I love wearing these.”

A second agreed: “These [are] great, so comfy. Primark do them but they are nearer a tenner.”

A third chimed in: “These are lovely and comfortable.”

“I swear by these and always get them in the sales”, echoed a fourth.

Meanwhile, a fifth wrote: “They’re comfy. I’ve got them in orange and pink from Asda too.”
