I came through darts ranks with Luke Littler, I’m 100 per cent sure me and him will dominate the sport for decades

Rock, current World No. 16, has bagged four PDC ranking titles in his career so far.

The Northern Irishman had been tipped for big things after winning the World Youth Darts Championship in 2022.

But has has yet to make it past the quarter-final stage of a major TV event.

Rock watched on as Littler – then aged just 16 – stunned the world by reaching the 2024 PDC World Championship final.

Littler returned a year later to beat Michael van Gerwen at Ally Pally and become the youngest-ever world champion.

And Rocky believes Littler’s rise proves there has been a changing of the guard.

He told the BBC: “It is fantastic for the sport.

“Luke winning the Worlds at such a young age shows it is a young man’s sport now.”

Rock won the Dutch Darts Championship last year and progressed past the second round of the World Championships for a third consecutive year.

And he believes his game is in good shape ahead of a packed schedule ahead.

He continued: “I had a solid 2024 but honestly I think 2025 is going to be my year.”

“My game is there to challenge, it always has been, it just has to come out when it needs to.

“I 100 per cent believe it. There is six years between me and Luke.

“We can have a very long career, and I believe that me and him will dominate the sport.”

Late last year, Rock admitted he is happy playing second-fiddle to darts’ newest sensation.

And he believes with the focus elsewhere, his talents can eventually shine through.

Rock told Het Nieuwsblad: “None of [the attention on Littler] bothers me. I like to fly under the radar, no problem at all.

Luke Littler prize money breakdown

Here is all the prize money Luke Littler has won so far after being crowned 2025 PDC World Darts Championship winner:

World Grand Prix – £7,500

European Championship – £7,500

(Unranked) Premier League Darts – £315,000

TOTAL: £1.43 million

“Luke can claim all the attention and therefore take the pressure off me.

“I’m happy with how I’m pitching the past few months and you can’t quite compare the hype either, so let me do it quietly.

“I was a star boy, he’s a star boy now. It’s really from a different level. He doesn’t care either.

“We’re good friends and I talk to him often, and that’s what I often say to him: ‘You really don’t care about anything, do you?’

“He handles all the attention much better than I do. So let him be the star!”

Littler, 18, and Rock are currently preparing for the upcoming World Masters.

The tournament has undergone a huge revamp, which includes the adoption of the old best-of-three-legs per set format.

Rock faces off with in-form Jermaine Wattimena in his first-round match on Thursday.

While Littler, fresh from disappointment at the Dutch Masters, takes on Andy Baetens.

Meet Mathys Tel, the teenage prodigy dubbed the ‘next Anelka’ who is sparking transfer scramble by Premier League clubs

MATHYS TEL is Bayern Munich’s record-breaking French prodigy who could be on the move to the Premier League.

Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham have been circling around the 19-year-old whizkid, with Blues fans even hailing him as the next Nicolas Anelka

Soccer player in red jersey.
Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel may be on the move to the Premier League in the transfer window

The youngster wants out from Bayern in this transfer window, with him sitting on the bench in the club’s last three games.

And since Michael Olise’s arrival, Tel has made just seven Bundesliga appearances this season – with two of them being starts.

Chelsea are reportedly ready to loan Christopher Nkunku as part of a deal to land Tel, with a fee of £58million being mooted.

Man Utd and Spurs are said to be interested, as are Arsenal, with Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus injured.

The next Nicholas Anelka

According to BILD, Tel has made it clear that he doesn’t want to go to Chelsea – because the competition for places there is just as big as in Munich.

Tel has been very clear that he is making the move away from Bavaria because he is hungry for game time.

That will be a major blow to Chelsea fans’ dreams of landing the next Anelka.

One supporter wrote on X: “When I see Tel, I see a young Anelka.”

Turns out the teenager has previously shared how he idolises the former Blues striker.

When asked why he wears the number 39, Tel said: “Because I already had it at Rennes and also because Nicolas Anelka wore it. I like Anelka, he was a really good player.”

Retired French ace Anelka, who played at Chelsea between 2008-2012, won the Premier League, FA Cup twice and Community Shield as a Blues player.

Where it all began

Tel was born in a Northern suburb of Paris called Sarcelles, playing as a youngster for local clubs Villiers Le Bel, Paris FC, ASJ Aubervilliers and Montrouge FC as well as spending time at the renowned Clairefontaine academy.

Tel actually started out as a centre-back but it soon became clear that he would be better used as a forward due to his exceptional dribbling and finishing skills.

As a fresh-faced 15-year-old he signed for Rennes, where he went on a meteoric rise.

In August 2021, Tel became the youngest player ever to turn out for Rennes when he came on for the final five minutes of their 1-1 draw at Brest.

He was just 16-years, three-months and 19-days-old when he made his competitive debut and was already 6ft tall.

Tel was captain of the France U17 team when they lifted the Euros trophy in Israel in the summer of 2022.

The forward played a key role in the push towards Euros glory, with three goals and an assist in the group stage before scoring in penalty shootout wins over Germany and Portugal

He lifted the trophy as captain following a 2-1 success against the Netherlands in the final on 1 June.

Record breaker

Tel is already a record-breaker, after becoming Bayern’s youngest-ever goalscorer when at 17-years-old and 126-days he was on target in his side’s 5-0 DFB Cup triumph against Viktoria Cologne in August 2022.

He beat the club’s previous record holder, Jamal Musiala (17 years, 205 days).

It didn’t take long for him to then make his full Bundesliga debut against VfB Stuttgart on 10 September, toasting the occasion with his first top-flight goal.

The Frenchman got off to a blinding start to last season, with five goals in his first eight games as Thomas Tuchel showed faith.

He laid down a huge marker, notching an impressive two goals – both match-winners, against Manchester United and Copenhagen – and one assist in eight Champions League matches.

The glittering campaign prompted Bayern to extend his contract through to 2029.

High praise

His Bayern team-mate Thomas Muller said: “You can see that he wants to score goals – that’s a great quality.

“Thinking back to when Arjen Robben was playing, we used to think he should have been looking for the pass, but he was so focused on scoring and he scored a lot.

“Mathys should keep doing his thing: firing shots in on goal. He’s a superb finisher.

“He’s only 18 and is making the most of it at the moment. He’s always positive, always has a smile on his face and has great finishing in training and in matches.”

Former Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann added: “He’s a very young, talented player who can play different positions.

“He’s very quick, strong with his body. He’s good at defending the ball with his back towards the opponent’s goal… I have the vision that he could score 40 goals [in a season like Robert Lewandowski] one day in the future.”

Who would he suit?

Having initially played up top for Bayern during the 2022-23 campaign, Tel has mostly been selected on the wing in the years since.

A right-footed forward, Tel likes to drift into an inside-left position.

At Chelsea he would likely come up against the likes of Jadon Sancho, Pedro Neto, Joao Felix and Nicolas Jackson for minutes, so may not get the regular game time that he craves.

Man Utd may be a good landing spot, although the Red Devils may have to flog one of Marcus Rashford or Alejandro Garnacho to make the deal happen.

Tottenham, meanwhile, could almost certainly offer the game time, having been crippled by injuries this season.

Ange Postecoglou’s side are still fighting on four fronts, which would give Tel plenty of opportunities to shine.

Attackers Dominic Solanke, Timo Werner, Brennan Johnson and Wilson Odobert are all missing through injury, while Son Heung-min and Richarlison will need their minutes carefully managed – although Spurs are also claimed to be trying to sign Brentford’s Yoane Wissa.

The blend of present day and period mystery has won fans over[/caption]

Anthony Horowitz’s stories follow the central character, Susan Ryeland, and her fictitious detective advisor, Atticus Pünd.

The first series was named The Magpie Murders and aired on BBC One and Iplayer in 2023, that was followed by the second instalment – The Moonflower Murders which was released the following year.

In the who-done-it series, book publisher turned amateur sleuth Susan has spent her career editing fictitious crime novels for the ill tempered crime writer, Alan Conway.

In series one Susan finds herself ripped from the pages of fictional crimes and confronted with a very real murder when her star writer turns up dead.

The second series finds Susan making a new life for herself with her partner in sunny of Crete, but she’s soon pulled back into the world of murder and deception.

Now the BBC have revealed the deal has been done to add a third, and final, series to their schedules and, as fans of the books will know, it will be called Marble Hall Murders.

Lesley Manville will be returning to reprise her role as Susan and she’ll be joined once again by Tim McMullan, who plays her wise imagined sidekick and mentor Atticus Pünd.

The series originally aired on the ill-fated BritBox streaming service but it was later acquired by the BBC where it proved popular enough to extend to the second series.

Fans have loved Horowitz’s unique blend of reality and fiction that delves viewers into present day and historical cases at the same time.

At moments throughout the real life cases that Susan is investigating the fictitious detective from her murder novels appears and offers sage advice and wisdom.

In a tease of what’s to come the BBC have confirmed that this time round Susan will be following the story of “Pünd’s Last Case” which is set in 1955, in an exotic villa in Corfu.

The BBC will be hoping that series three will follow in the Moonflower Murder’s footsteps, as the previous case drew in a average of 4.9 million viewers.

Speaking about the show, creator, Anthony Horowitz said: “I’m so happy to bring the team back – stars, director, producers, and crew – for a third instalment of what has been a fantastically successful TV series. I have a feeling this could be the best yet.”

Previously the show’s star Lesley Manville, who fans may recognise from the Crown, has heaped praise on fellow TV sleuths who have come before her.

She said: “It’s made me admire Angela Lansbury and David Suchet who did all the Poirot’s. David was doing a denouement every episode. I delivered the denouement at the end of Moonflower and I was learning it for six weeks.”

Both Magpie and Moonflower Murders are available to stream on the BBC Iplayer.

New Research Reveals Exercise Curbs Hunger Like Ozempic—But Unfairly for Women

Two recent studies are helping to explain the benefits of exercise and its ability to control your hunger cravings—a hot topic given the popularity of weight-loss drugs like Ozempic. These drugs help to quiet "food noise" in your brain and regulate hormones related to your appetite, but researchers are reminding the public that exercise has been, and will continue to be, a natural way to curb cravings. However, it's not an equal solution for all.

In fact, these new findings suggest that men and women experience different effects from exercise: While moderate-intensity workouts appear to adequately suppress hunger in men, studies are showing that, unfortunately, women may need to push harder to achieve the same benefits. Let's unpack the research.

RELATED: 8 Celebs Who've Admitted to Using Ozempic

Exercise vs. Hunger: What the Science Says

A new study published in December 2024 in the journal Physiological Reports found that moderate-intensity exercise (think: brisk walking, dancing, or swimming laps) can positively impact appetite-regulating hormones in men with obesity.

While previous research has zeroed in on gastrointestinal hormones, this study was the first to look at how interleukin-7 (IL-7), an immune-regulating protein, and other hormones might be involved in appetite suppression. The results revealed that, even without extreme effort, exercising led to an increased suppression of some of these hormones in the study subjects.

“This shows that even moderate-intensity exercise can have immediate and beneficial effects on appetite control in males with obesity," explained study author Timothy Fairchild, an Associate Professor from Murdoch University’s Health Futures Institute School of Allied Health.

He was quick to point out how the effects are similar to those of popular weight-loss drugs like Ozempic.

“Despite a strong focus on weight loss drugs in society at present, this study shows that lifestyle factors still have a strong and relevant role in helping people to live their healthiest life," Fairchild said in a press release. "In fact, the hormones which have been shown to increase after exercise are the same hormones which the most successful weight loss drugs are mimicking."

That's great news for men who exercise for its weight-loss benefits. But what about women?

Why Exercise Intensity Matters—Especially for Women

A different study published in November 2024 in the Journal of the Endocrine Society looked specifically at the role of exercise and its appetite-suppressing effects in men versus women. It examined the hunger hormone ghrelin, which women naturally have in higher levels than men, making food noise and cravings arguably "louder."

This was the first study of its kind to put ghrelin in both sexes to the test with three different types of activity: no exercise, moderate exercise, and high-intensity exercise (like sprinting or jumping rope, where movement feels challenging).

The results suggest that high-intensity exercise is the most effective at suppressing ghrelin levels in both men and women, and study participants reported feeling less hungry after such movement. However, moderate-intensity exercise failed to have the same effect in women.

In fact, the women in the study reported feeling hungrier after moderate exercises compared to not exercising at all.

“We found that moderate intensity either did not change ghrelin levels or led to a net increase,” the study authors wrote.

Meaning: High-intensity exercise helps regulate appetite in both men and women, but moderate-intensity exercise may only quiet food cravings in men, so women have to work harder to reap the same benefits.

The Takeaway: A Personalized Approach to Appetite Control

It's important to note that these were small studies and there's much more research to be done in this area.

Still, these studies highlight the powerful role that exercise plays in naturally controlling your appetite. For those looking for a drug-free weight-loss method, hitting the gym or picking up a new physical activity could be an effective method. And, whether through moderate or high-intensity workouts, it's clear that staying active is a key factor in achieving overall health and wellness.

That said, it's important to understand your own body and its needs, and how those may differ from, say, your partner or a workout buddy. Science is showing that it's important to tailor your exercise habits and intensity to what your body is capable of and the results you're looking to achieve. For this reason, it's best to consult with a pro for the best course of action.
