What TV channel is Ireland Under 20s vs England on? Free stream and kick-off time for Six Nations opener
IRELAND’S Under-20s kick off their Six Nations campaign this evening in Cork.
In case you need a reminder, they fell just short of a hat-trick of consecutive titles last March as England topped the table.
![14 January 2025; Eanna McCarthy poses for a portrait during an Ireland Men's U20s squad announcement and media day at PwC HQ in Spencer Dock, Dublin. Photo by Ben McShane/Sportsfile](https://www.thesun.ie/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2025/01/679e1fb8-8b11-4c01-a8a5-2cf33dda6293.jpg?strip=all&w=960)
So this figures to be a massive match-up in where the trophy will ultimately wind up with England first up for Neil Doak’s youngsters.
As is tradition, the Under-20s will serve as the curtain-raiser before the two nations’ senior side clash at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday.
Here’s everything to know around how to catch today’s action:
What TV channel is Ireland U20s vs England on?
The match will be shown live on Virgin Media Two.
So you also have the free streaming option provided by the Virgin Media Player.
Kick-off from a sold-out Virgin Media Park, formerly Musgrave, in Cork will be at 7.45pm.
Coverage will commence 15 minutes prior.
What is the Irish team?
Ireland: Charlie Molony; Derry Moloney, Connor Fahy, Eoghan Smyth, Ciaran Mangan; Sam Wisniewski, Clark Logan; Alex Usanov, Henry Walker, Alex Mullan; Mahon Ronan, Billy Corrigan; Michael Foy, Bobby Power, Éanna McCarthy (capt).
Replacements: Connor Magee, Billy Bohan, Tom McAllister, David Walsh, Oisin Minogue, Andrew Doyle, Gene O’Leary Kareem, Daniel Green.
Main event build-up:
Sam Prendergast has graduated from starring for the U20s in successive Grand Slam campaigns to seemingly being set to start on Saturday in the biggest game of his fledgling career.
Andrew Goodman spoke earlier in the week about what a big benefit having Johnny Sexton onboard as a coaching consultant will be for Prendergast, Jack Crowley and Ciaran Frawley.
Goodman said: “He’s great to have around, apart from being a great padel partner – he’s sharp on the courtside and I try to get in with him as much as I can.
“He’s doing the coaching with the kicking and mental (skills) with the 10s.
“Who could you ask better for a young Irish No 10 to have Johnny Sexton around, watching training with you and giving you live feedback in training and everything else.
“He’s been in touch with them most weeks through the provincial European games. They have a great laugh together.
“The young No 10s all work well together and there’s often times they’re together chewing the fat around the game.”
But Goodman believes that former captain Sexton can also help the rest of the players, and the coaches.
He said: “Not just the 10s though, he’s been a great leader for this country as a captain so with a new captain in the group and some younger leaders coming through as well, it’s a massive, important year.
“He’s around for all players to use – not just the 10s.
“Around his leadership, not only with Ireland but with his province as well he’s passing on bits of wisdom to all of them.”
“For us coaches, he’s got such a great eye on the game.
“Personally, myself, I run things past him and I love him because he’s honest and he’ll provide his own opinion on things as well.
“And that always leads to discussion and debate and then ultimately you get to a really good spot.
“I’m using him a lot, he’s got a great eye for the game and hopefully he can continue in that role for as long as possible.”
One Direction spark reunion rumours as Zayn Malik is joined at gig by bandmate after Liam Payne’s tragic death
ONE Direction fans’ hopes for a reunion were bolstered last night as Zayn Malik was joined by a former bandmate at his solo gig in LA.
Louis Tomlinson blended in with the crowd to watch Zayn perform his smooth R&B, but word quickly reached the singer that his friend was in attendance.
![Zayn Malik performing onstage.](https://www.thesun.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/exclusive-coverage-zayn-malik-performs-965670350.jpg?strip=all&w=686)
He told the crowd: “Alright so tonight’s kind of special, I know a friend of mine is here to support me tonight, he’s somewhere here I don’t want to give his location away but Louis’ here…”
The audience went absolutely crazy, squealing in delight at the mention of Louis’ name.
Doncaster lad Louis smiled and clapped his chest while standing on a balcony towards the back of the theatre.
One fan on X wrote: “I’m going to explode.”
Another said: “I’m sobbing so hard.”
Another wrote: “This makes my heart happy.”
Former Direction stars Zayn, Louis, Niall Horan and Harry Styles have been brought closer together in recent months following the tragic death of Liam Payne.
The music world was rocked when Liam died after falling from his hotel’s third floor balcony in Argentina while intoxicated.
His bandmates each issued heartfelt statements after his death and reunited to pay their respects at his funeral in November.
Zayn has since paid tribute to Liam on his solo tour.
There are also murmurings that the 1D lads could get together at the Brit Awards to honour their late friend.
A music industry source said: “The tribute to Liam at this year’s awards show has caused a real buzz and speculation that the remaining One Direction bandmates could finally come back together again on stage.
“It would be an entirely fitting way to honour Liam and talks are already under way about how to make this segment of the Brits unforgettable.
“Liam loved the Brit Awards and attended and performed many times over the years, both with 1D and as a solo artist, and will forever be part of the show’s history.
“It’s still in the very early stages of preparation and the finer details are still being worked out, with official approaches to be made in coming weeks, but there are set to be a mixture of performances, tasteful photo and video montages and a live orchestra.
“As well as the possibility of the One Direction lads being involved, other stars from the industry will be on hand to remember Liam on the night.”

Trainer Karl Henry reveals reason you might feel sick after exercising and why ‘Go Hard or Go Home’ doesn’t work
PERSONAL trainer Karl Henry has revealed the truth behind feeling nauseous during exercise during the 40 Day Health Challenge.
And the coach also shared why the ‘Go Hard or Go Home’ attitude doesn’t work.
![Screenshot of a panel discussion around a table.](https://www.thesun.ie/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2025/01/0e693136-e20c-44a8-991e-d491ced9e34a.jpg?strip=all&w=960)

Trish Buckley, from Raheny in Dublin, admitted she felt sick at times while training.
Self-confessed wine lover Trish lost 1.3kg in the first week of the challenge – dropping from 72.6kg to 71.3kg.
Now half way through the challenge, Karl revealed Trish’s progress to date.
Karl said: “First and foremost, you were 72.6 kilos on day one. Today, 69.3 kilos – eight pounds down.”
Fellow recruits from the challenge cheered Trish on for her major weight loss.
Karl continued: “So starting day one, you were 57 from a metabolic perspective, today, 49.”
The 53-year-old joked that she would be a child by the time the challenge is over.
Karl added: “There’s nothing like a decade shift with a metabolic age profile.”
The experts discussed how feeling nauseous during exercise is “quite common”.
Karl said: “What I will say is it isn’t a sign of an effective workout.
“It isn’t a sign of progress. It isn’t necessarily a positive sign. Some people love it.
“There is a new trend exercise wise in the country, which is, it’s go hard or go home and you’re not working out unless you’re vomiting on the way out. That’s not what we aim for.”
The health pro explained that people don’t have to be “really sore” after a workout.
He said: “The point is, the reassurance piece, really from us, I wanted to bring it up, is that actually, what you’re doing is perfect.
“You’re pushing yourself hard, you’re red faced, you’re slightly out of breath, you’re tired after the workouts.
“You’re struggling a little in some of the exercises. Yeah, that is all normal. That is all progression.”
Recruit Trish told how she has already accomplished a major goal since starting the challenge.

THE latest episodes of the 40 Day Health Challenge are now available at the 40dayhealthchallenge.ie.
Readers can also follow all the action and get the latest updates, meal plans, exercises and mental health tips from Thesun.ie and Ireland’s Classic Hits Radio during the 40 days.
She said: “My aim on this show was after 40 days that I could run a 5k and I did that two weeks ago already in 36 minutes.
“Because I said ‘I will definitely run a 5k at the end of it’ and I ran it in two weeks. And that’s because of all your help.”
Karl added: “Your body adapts as it gets stronger. It recovers faster with the right food on board.
“Afterwards, it recovers quicker. So you recover quicker overnight, the change makes it more difficult.
“So we change every 10 days throughout the phases of the plan. So it does get more challenging.”

Serves 2 (each serving contains approximately 502 kcal)
Suitable for vegetarians.
Ingredients:
80g wholegrain rice
1 onion (150g)
1 garlic clove (4g)
1 tbsp olive or rapeseed oil (15g)
1 tsp chili powder (5g)
1 tsp ground cumin (5g)
1 tsp ground coriander (5g)
1 small courgette (150g)
400g tin kidney beans, drained and rinsed (240g)
400g tin chopped tomatoes
2 heaped tbsp quark (40g)
1 tbsp chopped toasted cashew nuts (15g)
The method:
Rinse the rice in a sieve under cold running water and add to a saucepan with 250ml of water. Bring to the boil, then reduce the heat to very low and cover with a lid.
Cook for 20-25 minutes or the rice is tender, and all the water has been absorbed.
Meanwhile, heat a large non-stick frying pan over a medium heat. Peel and finely dice the onion and mince the garlic.
Add the oil to the pan and sauté the onion and garlic for 2-3 minutes until softened.
Trim and cut the courgette into small chunks. Stir the spices into the onion mixture and then stir in the courgette and cook for another 2-3 minutes until sizzling.
Pour in the kidney beans and tomatoes with a splash of water, then reduce the heat to low and simmer gently for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Spoon the rice into bowls and add the kidney bean chilli.
Add a dollop of quark to each one and scatter over the cashew nuts to serve.
*Suitable for batch cooking.

The Apprentice’s Karren Brady defends Molly-Mae amid business backlash & ‘doesn’t care’ she’s from Love Island
THE Apprentice star Karren Brady has shared her view on former Love Island star Molly-Mae Hague getting into business amid backlash to her Maebe brand.
The social media influencer has made being a businesswoman the forefront of her brand in a move akin to Kim Kardashian.
![Dame Karren Brady at the Hello! Inspiration Awards 2022.](https://www.thesun.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/dame-karren-brady-attends-hello-930650737.jpg?strip=all&w=960)

Her recent Prime Video documentary series chronicled her getting her fashion brand off the ground and up and running.
But it did not come without its backlash – there was criticism over the stock levels and quality of the items, as well as Molly’s business acumen.
Business mogul Karren has now defended celebrities-turned-business wannabes and admitted the business world is fair game for anyone as long as they have drive and ambition.
When asked what she makes of Molly-Mae and other famous faces increasingly focusing on business, Karren told The Sun: “Ambition is not a God-given right.
“It’s not my God-given right to be ambitious. It’s available to anyone in the world.
“Lots of people have ideas for businesses but many of them don’t have the know-how or the encouragement or the backing or the energy or the persistence and resilience that you need to turn that idea into a business.
“So I think anyone who takes that bold step, it doesn’t matter where you come from, who you are, what you’ve got, what you’ve achieved, to have that step and go and do it and run a successful business, I’ve got huge admiration from them.
“I don’t care whether they came from Eton or came from Love Island.
“To me, it’s all the same, it doesn’t matter.”
Molly-Mae was previously criticised for claiming everyone has “the same 24 hours in a day” as a way of describing how she was able to make millions and turn all of her work ventures into a success.
It faced furious backlash from those who called out Molly for forgetting the opportunities and platform she had been given as a result of her TV fame.
Last year, she backtracked on the statement by admitting she did not get her wording right and her intention clear.
In an interview with British Vogue, the Love Island star explained: “Obviously, I meant absolutely no malice or anything ill-intended by that comment at all. Would I have worded it slightly differently now? One-hundred per cent, as to not upset anybody.
“But you’re not always going to get it right, living your life in the public eye.”
The Apprentice begins tonight at 9pm on BBC One.

BBC reveals gritty new detective drama to rival Luther in first look pictures as Game of Thrones star leads cast
THE BBC has revealed a new gripping drama that could fill the gap left by hit series Luther.
Virdee is a six part series based on the detective novels of the same name by British author AA Dhand.
![Poster for the show Virdee, featuring a man walking down a city street at night.](https://www.thesun.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/10-02-2025-967772445.jpg?strip=all&w=640)

It follows the story of a detective who married a Muslim woman, meaning he’s now estranged from his Sikh family.
The drama is a showcase for Bradford, beginning it’s year as Capital of Culture, as the book and show is set entirely in the city and the author is also local.
The cast is lead by the hunky Game of Thrones and Rebel Moon star Staz Nair, who takes up the lead role of Harry Virdee.
The BBC will be hoping that his acting pedigree and brooding good looks will put Detective Virdee on a par with Idris Elba’s Luther.
Luther was a huge hit for the BBC during its five series from 2010 to 2019, before Idris hung up his big coat for good.
Meanwhile Staz’s on screen wife in Virdee, Saima, will be played by Aysha Kala, who fans may recognise from her roles in Channel 4’s Shameless and the Netflix comedy Man vs. Bee.
The cast also includes Vikash Bhai, who plays the detective’s brother in law and Virdee’s dad who’s played by Kulvinder Ghir, famous for his roles in Goodness Gracious Me, Bend It Like Beckham and Blinded by the Light.
Early images showing Staz appearing bruised and battered suggests viewers can expect to see lots of action as the story follows a turf war developing across the Yorkshire city.
Police and gangs are clashing and the murder of a young drug dealer brings Detective Virdee into direct conflict between his professional and private life.
The BBC have also given the show a dusting of Hollywood magic by recruiting one of the most famous film and TV music composers in the world to work with young, local talent on the project.
The multi-Oscar, Grammy and Bafta winning composer Hans Zimmer, who famously wrote the scores for films like The Lion King, Pirates of the Caribbean and Gladiator has composed the title track for the new series.
The show’s star Staz spoke about the show’s comparisons with other detective hits and said: “This show leads with vulnerability more than any detective drama I’ve ever seen. It’s a privilege to be bringing AA Dhand’s hope for his city to life.”
For writer and creator AA Dhand he’s thrilled to be working on a project in his home town saying: “It has been an honour and a privilege to write and produce this series set in my home town of Bradford.”

I lived a life of luxury staring on Too Hot To Handle now fans are raging as I’ve sacked it all in to marry a prisoner
THEY say true love knows no bounds, and Lorra has found hers behind bars.
The 27-year-old met her husband in 2023 on a site that allows people to write to prisoners, six weeks later, the pair were engaged.
![A woman in a white dress hugs a man in a white jumpsuit.](https://www.thesun.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/55e09465-ad0f-4b9e-a542-9bc9fe4f1aa3.jpg?strip=all&w=540)

Lorra was stuck in Dubai over Christmas because a visa issue had prevented her from returning home to Germany.
Lonely and bored, she decided to go on writeaprisoner.com and wish them a merry Christmas.
“I saw on his profile he said he liked poetry and I was interested in that,” she recounted.
After messaging each other about poetry, the pair took their relationship cellular, regularly talking on the phone for up to 11 hours a day.
She’d also fly over to Washington on occasion to see her imprisoned pen pal face to face.
Now the Too Hot To Handle star speaks to Truly about how she ditched her luxury lifestyle for love.
She said: “Before, I had everything when it comes to like materialistic stuff and financial stuff, I was traveling the world I was like doing everything you could imagine but I never felt satisfied from within.
“That was because I needed love but since I found him I realised that that was what I was missing.”
Now, Lorra works in real estate as she waits for Joshua Stewart to get out of prison.
“His current sentence is seven years he’s been in prison so far for a little bit over three but he can get released after 4 and 1/2 years for house arrest so he’ll have to stay on house arrest for six more months,” she explained.
Lorra regularly flies out to Washington State in the US to see her man while she lives in Germany.
But she plans to move abroad soon so they can start a life together when he gets out of jail.
While romancing a convicted killer might seem unsavory, the prison wife said his crime didn’t change her “opinion of him” as she knew the “backstory.”
“I wasn’t immediately asking about the crime because I didn’t want to judge him just based on that,” Gehrke declared. “I was hearing a lot of stories about him growing up before I knew all the details about what he was incarcerated for. It made me see it all a bit differently.”
The pair even got secretly married in jail when she went to visit, just six months after the pair began speaking.
UK Prison Brides
- Tracey Bottomley married double murderer Ernest Otto Smith in the US after meeting through a prison pen pal initiative. Tracey, from West Yorks, knew he had been given a life sentence with no possibility of parole
- Rebecca Short, from Oxfordshire, told her family she was on holiday in the US in 2022. Little did they know she was marrying double murderer Manuel Ovate Jr, who was on death row
- Paula Williamson, an actress who appeared on Hollyoaks and Emmerdale, married the infamous Charles Bronson in 2017 after they became penpals
- Karen Charves married Kenny Richey while he was on death row in 2014. He had been convicted for starting a fire in 1986 that killed his ex-girlfriend’s daughter, aged two. Karen and Kenny’s union did not last and she claimed he was abusive.
- Naomi Wise, from Essex, married Victor Oquendo, nicknamed Animal, while he was serving a 24-year prison term in a US jail. They split up in 2022 but have now rekindled their romance
“It was a prison marriage — one of the other inmates was his best man,” she recounted. “We were all in white and had our own color theme. It felt super right.”
The pair are on the phone for hours every single day and Lorra even has a mini cushion of her man that she can snuggle with at night.
Now Lorra is busy working on a clothing line, addressing the nasty comments left by trolls such as ‘daddy issues’ and ‘Mamma, I’m in love with a criminal’.
“We turned all the hateful comments into something positive,” she added.
The Youtube video garnered a huge reaction from viewers who thought Lorra was bonkers for marrying the inmate.
One person wrote: “Sis, please have standards.”
Another commented: “As soon as he’s out of prison, this “relationship” will fall apart.”
“‘Real estate agent’ lool massive red flag right there,” penned a third.
Meanwhile a fourth said: “What a clown move.”
“I will keep my comments to myself,” claimed a fifth.
Someone else added: “Yep that won’t last.”
