‘I can get to No1’ says Luke Littler as he reveals exactly why he believes he can overtake rival Humphries THIS YEAR
LUKE LITTLER has warned Luke Humphries he is gunning for his world No1 spot.
The two Lukes are the only players on the darts PDC Order of Merit who have earned more than £1million in prize money over the past 24 months.
![Luke Littler and Luke Humphries at a darts competition.](https://www.thesun.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/2024-alamy-live-news-image-904165283.jpg?strip=all&w=960)
However, Humphries is defending a lot of cash in the autumn and winter – banked from victories in the 2023 season – and this gives the Nuke the chance to close the financial gap.
Especially as Littler only turned professional at the start of the 2024 campaign and as a free hit going forward.
This weekend it is the World Masters, the first ranking tournament of 2025 since the conclusion of the PDC World Darts Championship at Ally Pally.
Littler – who went bowling with his mates on his 18th birthday on January 21 – said: “Luke Humphries has a lot to defend.
“So, maybe I could get to world No.1 This year I’m not defending any prize money.
“We all know Luke has the capabilities to go and defend all that he won two years back.
“I’m hoping I can either stop him or other players do – so I can get to No.1.
“There has been a bit of rust from all of us since the Worlds. I don’t have any expectations.
Inside Littler's massive rise

LUKE LITTLER has taken the darts world by storm since exploding onto the scene at the PDC World Championship at the beginning of the year.
The Nuke reached the final on his Ally Pally debut at just 16 years of age – smashing records along the way.
He has then gone on to win a host of PDC events and the Premier League title – which he claimed at the O2 Arena by beating world champion Luke Humphries in May.
He also finished his first season in the World Series as the No1 ranked player.
He has joined Jude Bellingham on the Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe list.
And the teenage titan even had to snub an invite from the WWE.
The Sun exclusively revealed that Littler is plotting to create a fitness empire.
He is also cashing in away from the Oche thanks to an Instagram side hustle.
And he’s even the face of a brand new cereal.
But he is newly single after splitting from girlfriend Eloise Milburn following a 10-month relationship.
Check out all of our latest Luke Littler stories.

“People will think I’ll win everything. I don’t know what to expect from myself.”
Littler’s opponent on Friday night is the Belgian qualifier Andy Baetens, who fancies his prospect of an upset in Milton Keynes.
Littler won the first PDC professional clash 6-1 last August in a ProTour event but Baetens, 35, got the better of the Warrington teenager on the amateur Modus Super Series in 2023.
The Beast from the East – the world No.94 and the 2023 WDF world champion – said: “I’ve beaten him four times.
“In my opinion, he’s the best in the world, so we will see. I am a little bit better as a player than last year. I train a lot.
“Qualifying for the Masters was very hard. I am proud to get through.”

Netflix’s biggest show reveals release date of final ever series – and confirms return of spin-off
NETFLIX has confirmed that one of its biggest global franchises will finish this summer.
The Squid Games guards will barely have had time to get the blood stains out of their iconic overalls before the show’s producers have confirmed their next outing.
![Squid Game: The Challenge contestants in red jumpsuits and masks.](https://www.thesun.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/challenge-cr-courtesy-netflix-2023-856941900.jpg?strip=all&w=960)

The violent Korean global hit will officially now end this year with the third, and final, instalment set for release on June 27.
Fans can expect to see the action pick up right where series two left off with Gi-hun, played by Lee Jung-jae, facing despair as he’s thwarted at every turn by the Front Man.
The streaming giant has also teased details of the final act with the release of a poster for the series that carries that tag line ‘Prepare for the final game’.
It features one of the game’s pink clad guards dragging the dead body of player 214 towards a coffin which is wrapped in a pink bow.
It mirrors the poster for the previous series but the coffin is now open and the rainbow track that featured in the six legged contest has been swapped for a floral swirl pattern.
For eagled -eyed fans they will also notice that two sinister shadows are cast over the scene.
These relate to the cryptic foreshadowing we got in the post credit scene in the last episode of series two where three players are seen following the game’s murderous, doll, Young-hee.
Her iconic pigtails are clearly recognisable and the poster also features her new companion, Cheol-su, her male equivalent who, it appears, will play a key role in the final series.
Producers of the show will be sure they can recreate the run away success of the last two gory instalments.
Series two became the third most-watched season on Netflix ever, attracting an incredible 68 million views upon its debut — breaking records for the most views in a first week.
It also ranks as number one in the Top 10 Non-English TV Series list across 92 countries.
There was also a second exciting Squid Games announcement made as Netlix confirmed the return of the hugely popular Squid Games The Challenge series.
The UK made show was watched by almost 30 million viewers in just its first three weeks and is a real life version of the adrenaline fuelled fictional contest.
It will see 456 real players from all over the world competing in games recreated from the drama in pursuit of a life-changing reward of $4.56 million – or around £3.6m.
The previous version of the show saw 55-year-old immigration adjudicator, Mai, clinch the money and plan a peaceful retirement helping charities close to her heart.

Love Island bombshell Danielle Sellers set sights on new villa hunk – just hours after hideaway night with Curtis
LOVE Island bombshell Danielle Sellers’ head is turned by a different boy tonight after her night in the hideaway with Curtis Pritchard.
Having spent the evening away from the rest of the villa, Danielle reassures Ron Hall he’s not out of the picture.

Chatting on the beanbags, she tells him: “I feel a little bad for you in that situation, as obviously I’m getting to know you as well.”
“I still want to get to know you; I don’t want you to think I’m all over that.”
Ron replies: “It’s right for you to get to know… whether it’s everyone, or whether you’ve narrowed it down to like me and Curtis. You need to do what’s best for you.”
It might be for the best as Ekin-Su Culculoglu was not happy about Curtis’s night in the hideaway.
Despite insisting that he was “closed off” with Ekin, he said he owed it to himself to get to know Danielle.
Elma Pazar revealed that Curtis had held hands with Danielle, which left Ekin panicking.
She pulled him for a chat and quizzed him on it, asking: “No hand touching in the morning?”
A confused Curtis replied: “No.”
Ekin explained: “Elma said it was like ‘your hand on her hand’.”
Curtis denied it and said: “They were asking if I was ‘closed off’ and I said ‘yeah’. I’m sorry you’re feeling upset, we had a chat, she’s a grounded nice person.”
A furious Ekin hit back: “I don’t give a f*** if the girl is a good, or a nice, or wonderful person. Or if you have compatibility, I don’t give a f***.”
Curtis tried to reassure her, saying: “My eyes are set on what we have.”
But an upset Ekin told him: “But why do I feel like that line has been crossed a little bit?”
Curtis responded: “Because Elma’s obviously come to you and said that we’ve touched hands.”
Will they be able to get back on track?

Pete Wicks and Danny Jones land huge new TV gig after Strictly and I’m A Celeb success
PETE Wicks and Danny Jones have been snapped up for a brand new TV job following their recent success on the small screen.
Strictly Come Dancing star Pete and I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! winner Danny impressed telly bosses so much that they have landed themselves the huge gig.

Towie favourite Pete, 37, and 38-year-old McFly star Danny will make their panel show debut next week on an episode of Loose Men.
During the hour-long Loose Women spin-off, the pair will be encouraged to talk about their own experiences and opinions on a range of topics.
Together with experienced Loose Men Craig Doyle and Jordan Banjo, Pete and Danny are expected to chat about male body trends, anxiety, relationship issues and their own experiences with alcohol.
In a new video promo for the episode, Craig describes his co-star Danny as “a guy who can sing, who is jungle king”.
He says Pete is “a Strictly star with a heart of gold”.
Sally Shelford, Loose Women’s editor, has promised serious chat along with “some surprises” when the one-off show airs next week.
She said: “We’re delighted Danny and Pete will join Craig and Jordan for this episode, continuing Loose Men’s mission to kickstart the important conversations that will make a difference to those watching.
“Our panellists never shy away from the big issues and this episode is no exception, with some of the most important and honest discussions to date – and of course, some surprises, cheeky chat and lunchtime laughs throughout too!”
The lads will appear on Loose Men next Wednesday lunchtime.
Pete found fame in the ITVBe reality show The Only Way Is Essex, but became much more of a household name last year.
He competed in Strictly Come Dancing with professional dancer Jowita Przystal and they made it all the way to the semi-finals.
Danny, meanwhile, is famed for being one quarter of the pop band McFly and a judge on The Voice UK.
Last year, he was crowned the winner of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! after spending three weeks in the Australian jungle.
The first episode of Loose Men aired in November 2020.
It featured an all-male panel made up of Ronan Keating, Marvin Humes, Iain Stirling, and Roman Kemp.
The special aired to mark International Men’s Day and was the first time men had taken over Loose Women in its 21-year history.
Loose Men was such a hit that it has continued to air periodically, with stars including Vernon Kay, Jeff Brazier, Brian Conley, Mike Tindall and Johannes Radebe all appearing as panelists.
- Watch Loose Men on Wednesday 5th February from 12.30pm on ITV1, ITVX, STV and STV Player

‘My lifespan is limited’ – Racing boss steps down immediately after cancer spreads to brain
RACING boss Joe Saumarez Smith admitted ‘my lifespan is limited’ as he stood down from his BHA role with immediate effect.
The chair of racing’s governing body said his cancer had sadly spread to his brain.
![King Charles III, Queen Camilla, and Joe Saumarez Smith at the Epsom Derby.](https://www.thesun.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/embargoed-publication-uk-newspapers-24-967873635.jpg?strip=all&w=960)
Smith said in a statement: “I am very disappointed to step down as Chair of the BHA board but now the cancer has spread to my brain and I have been told that my lifespan is pretty limited, I feel it would be very unfair on horseracing if I did not hand over the reins immediately.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed both being on the BHA board for over a decade and being Chair for nearly three years.
“It has been an immense privilege to have such a senior role in a sport I have loved since the age of eight.
“I did not want to stay on and make decisions that were potentially open to later challenge if questions were raised about whether the cancer had impaired my abilities.
“David Jones will do an excellent job in the interim and I think Lord Charles Allen will do a fantastic job with his highly impressive track record and enthusiasm for the sport.”
Acting Chief Executive of the BHA Brant Dunshea said: “It is a great sorrow to all of us that Joe has had to step down so suddenly because of his ill health.
“He has been an outstanding Chair and Board member of the BHA for more than a decade.
“But more than that, he has been a passionate, dedicated and powerful ambassador for the sport and British Racing owes him a huge debt.
“Having worked with Joe for more than a decade his wise counsel, personal support, and pure love of the sport will be deeply missed.”
More to follow.
