NEWCASTLE star Joe Willock has spoken out against the vile racist abuse hurled at him after his side’s loss to Fulham.

The Magpies went into half-time in the lead but saw their Champions League hopes take a massive blow as they collapsed 2-1 to a resurgent Fulham side.

Willock was a second-half substitute in the game and nearly made an immediate impact but missed a magnificent chance while the scores were level.

But the Newcastle star was hit by disgusting racist abuse after the full-time whistle had blown.

Willock shared the disgusting messages on his Instagram story along with the caption: “I hope you find God bro.”

One cowardly user said: “You cant score from such position? Black n****.”

A second wrote: “Black slave bast***, you trash bast*** who causes trouble wherever you go.”

The disgusting user also threatened harm against Willock’s family.

The Sun has chosen not to include all of the abhorrent abuse sent to the Newcastle midfielder.

Willock looked a forlorn figure at full-time as he wiped sweat off his face with his shirt following the loss.

He has already racked up 28 games this year and the box-to-box midfielder has managed to score one goal and record two assists.

Newcastle looked to be cruising to an eighth league win out of nine after Jacob Murphy had given them a half-time lead.

Instead, a sloppy display after the break cost them as Raul Jimenez levelled before Muniz’s late dagger through the heart.

The Brazilian came off the bench to turn in a free-kick from fellow substitute Andreas Pereira eight minutes from time to give the Cottagers their first away win at Newcastle in 16 years.

Fulham’s second-half fightback has them dreaming of Europe once again after their super-sub’s dramatic winner.

The Cottagers are now back looking up the table after bouncing back from last week’s loss to Manchester United.

But a second-straight home defeat was the worst possible preparation for the Magpies ahead of their Carabao Cup semi-final second-leg against Arsenal.

Howe must now lift his troops to defend their 2-0 advantage against the Gunners and seal a date with destiny at Wembley.

DAIRE Ó BAOILL and Oisín Gallen ensured that Jimmy is still winning matches in 2025 as Donegal edged Dublin in their Division 1 opener last night.

Ó Baoill scored six points — with Gallen nabbing four — as Jim McGuinness’ troops won in Ballybofey.

Most of their work was done in the first half as they built up a lead with the wind at their backs — meaning they led by five at the interval.

And they did so thanks to Ó Baoill’s brilliant kicking before they hung on to claim their first NFL points of the year.

It was an important victory too after Donegal missed their trip to face Kerry last weekend owing to the aftermath of Storm Éowyn. But an experimental Dublin side added to the night.

With a wind behind them that got stronger as the half went on, Donegal enjoyed large spells of possession and found themselves 0-11 to 0-6 in front by the interval.

And that lead would have been considerably more only for a host of Donegal wides.

The official count was seven at the interval — but five in succession punctured their progress midway through the half.

But Ó Baoill was the one with the accuracy, showing that two plus two is indeed six.

The Gaoth Dobhair forward knocked over half a dozen first-half points from four shots. Two were traditional types before he nailed a brace of two-pointers as the rain fell sideways to freshen things up.

Dublin gaffer Dessie Farrell made three first-half substitutions.

Tom Lahiff — who was one of the trio drafted in — was involved as soon as he came on and saw Shaun Patton save his goalbound shot.

Dublin opened with a 1-17 to 1-15 victory over Mayo at Croke Park last weekend.

And they were best served by Colm Basquel and Killian McGinnis in the opening 35 minutes with a couple of points each.

Farrell’s troops might have fancied themselves with the wind in their favour during the second half.

But Donegal were always happy enough to run and close the space.

However, the Dublin manager was managing minutes as he made another substitution after the break with Luke Breathnach coming on for Basquel in the 43rd minute. But points from Niall Scully, Basquel and Greg McEneaney brought their deficit down to just two points minutes after the restart.

It meant that the wind theory was perhaps the one to back.

Even though Shane O’Donnell and Gallen pushed Donegal on, Ciarán Kilkenny popped a score over from outside the arc to put just one in the game.

Donegal kept just in front, with O’Donnell, Gallen and Peadar Mogan all pointing.

But McEneaney took Dublin back to one point again with just 16 minutes to play.

However, the trend that developed earlier continued.

STAYING AHEAD

When Dublin looked like grasping Donegal’s tail, captain for the night Michael Langan and substitute Patrick McBrearty stretched it out to three and Donegal managed to keep ahead when it mattered most.

The result ensured that Dublin have not won a league meeting between the sides in Donegal since 2009.

They were even managed by Pat Gilroy on that occasion when they won 0-13 to 1-8 in Ballyshannon.

Now though, Donegal boss McGuinness will be glad his side are winning matches once again.

DARRAGH FITZGIBBON denied Limerick a winning start to their season by nailing a free for Cork with the last puck of a tetchy NHL Division 1A encounter at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

The 2024 Hurler of the Year nominee earned the hosts a share of the spoils with his tenth point of the night in the tenth minute of stoppage time.

On a woeful night for hurling when every score was hard-earned, Limerick were in the driving seat with a 1-11 to 0-9 lead early in the second half.

However, their momentum was halted by a brilliant Shane Barrett goal.

Pat Ryan’s side then showed their resolve in the closing stages to add another point to the two they collected last weekend in Wexford.

This was Limerick’s first outing since their dreams of a historic All-Ireland five in a row were dashed by Cork last summer. But the greasy conditions and swirling wind ensured that the fare on offer here was never likely to match what was conjured up in the most recent meetings of the Munster rivals.

Limerick are in ‘a building process’, manager John Kiely said earlier this week.

With one eye on their Championship opener against Tipperary, the first proper opportunity to respond to whispers of their demise is still 11 weeks away.

Nevertheless, there was enough evidence in their season opener to suggest that the foundations are still strong.

A crowd of 23,402 braved the weather to witness the latest instalment of a rivalry that produced a few thrilling tussles last year.

Cork salvaged their season with a home win over Limerick in Munster, before repeating the dose when the teams met in an All-Ireland semi.

Rebels boss Ryan included eight members of the side that started in that Croke Park victory.

Nickie Quaid and Declan Hannon were among the notable Limerick absentees, with Kiely retaining seven starters from the loss to Cork.

Having ruptured his ACL in November, ace goalkeeper Quaid is in danger of being ruled out for the year.

Doubts have also been raised about Hannon’s involvement after he relinquished the captaincy to Cian Lynch.

In the absence of the 32-year-old Adare man, Kyle Hayes started at centre-back. Quaid’s place was taken by debutant Jason Gillane, the younger brother of 2023 Hurler of the Year Aaron.

More than five years since he made his last appearance for Limerick, 2014 All-Star forward Shane Dowling was on the bench as back-up goalie.

Both sides also made injury-enforced changes inside the opening quarter. Limerick’s Gearóid Hegarty had to make way for David Reidy, while Cork stalwart Patrick Horgan launched his 18th season by replacing Pádraig Power.

The hosts were on top early, with Fitzgibbon leading the way as they raced into a 0-7 to 0-2 lead.

But with Limerick gaining supremacy in the middle third, Cork added just one more point — a Tim O’Mahony free — to their tally for the rest of the first half.

TURNING THE TIDE

A rare William O’Donoghue goal on 19 was the catalyst that turned the tide in Limerick’s favour.

An O’Mahony clearance was gathered by Kyle Hayes, who found O’Donoghue unmarked. Although his shot lacked venom, he did enough to beat Patrick Collins.

Patrick O’Donovan seized his opportunity to stake a claim for Championship consideration by reeling off three points from play in seven minutes as Limerick took control.

Cork had a chance to regain the upper hand just before the break, only for Shane Kingston’s shot at goal to be brilliantly blocked by Reidy.

Leading by 1-7 to 0-8 at the change of ends, Limerick increased their advantage to five points before the home support found their voice thanks to Barrett. Brian Hayes found the 2024 All-Star on the overlap and he rattled off a superb finish to find keeper Gillane’s net.

Limerick’s goalie responded by firing over a couple of frees and the visitors were four points to the good with 12 minutes to play.

Cork introduced Conor Lehane in an effort to fashion the scores they needed. But the Midleton forward’s chance to make an impact was almost immediately snatched away as he was forced off with what appeared to be an arm injury.

A brace of Brian Hayes points had Cork back within two. The seven additional minutes at the end of normal time offered the Rebels ample time to rescue it. During a feisty finale, Fitzgibbon converted a couple of placed balls either side of an Adam English free.

And after Brian Hayes was fouled by Reidy, the clock had ticked beyond 79 when Fitzgibbon nailed the equaliser.

A home game against Tipp this coming Sunday is next for Limerick. Cork now head into a three-week break before travelling to Thurles to face the Premier on February 22.

A PACKED UK-bound flight was forced to turn back and make an emergency landing when passengers and crew became sick at 30,000ft.

Toxic fumes made a dozen travellers and five British Airways staff ill one hour after take-off.

Passengers panicked and the captain decided to return to Dubai airport, where paramedics and firefighters lined the runway as BA Flight 0108 touched down.

A passenger said: “It was clear there was little preparation for such an event.”

The Sun understands the five crew members needed ongoing medical attention.

BA called the incident “a minor technical issue”.

Last month a British Airways plane was dramatically struck by lightning as devastating floods wreaked havoc across Brazil’s largest city.

The Airbus A350 was parked at São Paulo’s Guarulhos International Airport when it was directly hit on its vertical stabilizer during a massive storm.

Incredible footage from Friday shows the electrifying moment as the lightning bolt connected to the fuselage for several seconds.

The plane, en route to London Heathrow, was delayed for inspections, while 21 other flights were redirected due to the severe weather.

Despite the shocking scenes, aviation experts confirmed to Brazilian media that lightning strikes on planes are common and generally harmless.

That’s thanks to advanced safety features that shield passengers from electrical discharge.

MANCHESTER UNITED wantaway star Marcus Rashford is close to finalising a loan move to Aston Villa.

United boss Ruben Amorim has frozen Rashford out of his squad and suggested he is so unhappy with the way the player trains he’d rather pick 63-year-old goalkeeping coach Jorge Vital ahead of him.

And now the star forward is on the brink of completing a loan move to Villa until the end of the season.

The Villans are reportedly covering the majority of Rashford’s staggering £325,000-a-week wages and are also offering performance-related bonuses.

The England international appears keen on the move as there was a lack of expected interest from top European clubs.

Plus, Villa would be able to offer the 27-year-old Champions League football while maintaining his high wages.

A United insider said: “Marcus always said he would never play for another club in England because he is a United fan.

“He started to think he needed to move earlier this season and wanted to go to a big European club.

“The reality is he’s not had the interest he expected. Villa first showed a tentative interest in him last November.

“Amorim has made it very clear he has no future at Old Trafford.

TWO Irish lotto players have bagged life-changing six-figure sums in in tonight’s National Lottery draws.

And in the Lotto Plus 2 draw another player scooped up the €250,000 top prize.

The winning numbers were 9, 12, 15, 33, 39 and 41.

The bonus number drawn was 31.

Lotto bosses have revealed the winning ticket was sold in Dublin.

The winner should keep their ticket safe, sign the back of it and make contact with the prize claims team.

There was no winner of the Lotto Plus 1 prize which was a whopping €1,000,000.

The numbers drawn were 1, 24, 29, 31, 34, 41 and bonus number 46.

There were 70 winners of the raffle prize, each scooping up €500.

The winning raffle number was 5554.

Separately, one shop is celebrating after selling last Wednesday’s €4.6million Lotto ticket.

Centra on Platin Road, Drogheda in Co Louth sold the winning slip in Wednesday’s Lotto draw.
