‘Major potential to blow up’ – F1 team ‘worried about drivers’ with ability of British star predicted to cause ‘trouble’

ONE Formula One team has huge potential to “blow up” this season after a host of driver changes across the grid.

Only McLaren and Aston Martin have retained the same driver lineup from the 2024 grid to this season.

One journalist believes Esteban Ocon could be a disruptive presence[/caption]

But according to F1 journalist Ben Anderson, Haas in particular could be facing a rocky road ahead.

That is because he believes Esteban Ocon, who moved to the team from Alpine, could clash with British rookie Ollie Bearman.

Bearman, 19, raced in three F1 races last season, replacing Carlos Sainz at Ferrari and later Kevin Magnussen in two races at Haas.

However, it is believed that Ocon’s less-than glittering record in getting on with team-mates could cause an “explosion” at the team.

Speaking on The Race F1 Extra podcast, he said: “Bearman and Ocon, definitely has major potential I think to blow up.

“Pretty much because of Ocon’s long history of not getting on that well with his team-mates.

“I think Bearman is a really exciting talent, someone who probably will end up replacing Lewis [Hamilton] at Ferrari in the future, has some edge to him and I suspect will be quick enough to give Ocon some serious trouble.

“And I think at that point it becomes all about how Ocon reacts and history suggests that he won’t react that well to being given trouble by his team-mate.

“And I think already Haas are kind of a bit worried about that aspect so I imagine Ayao Komatsu will be big on rules of engagement for his drivers going into this season.”

Ocon, 28, previously had bad blood with Pierre Gasly, but seemed to have put any issues under the bridge while the pair were at Alpine.

The Frenchman had also not seen eye-to-eye with Fernando Alonso when they publicly fell out when he was his team-mate prior to Gasly.

Following the move in 2023, Ocon said: “I was disappointed by Fernando [Alonso]’s comments that came out in the press and internally.

“We didn’t really have a discussion, within the team, about all that. I think it’s good that he’s leaving [for Aston Martin] and that we do our part as we should.”

Alonso later called Ocon “immature” after their collision at the 2023 Brazilian Grand Prix.

The 2025 season kicks off at the Australian Grand Prix in March.

‘S***house’ Myles Lewis-Skelly, 18, hits the Erling Haaland celebration after scoring first Arsenal goal vs Man City

ARSENAL whizkid Myles Lewis-Skelly was on wide-up duties against Manchester City.

The talented full-back did Erling Haaland’s celebration after putting the Gunners 3-1 up against Pep Guardiola’s side at the Emirates.

Lewis-Skelly wrapped in a two goal cushion in the 61st minute, with a great strike for his first career Premier League goal.

But it was the 18-year-old’s celebration that has Arsenal fans talking.

Lewis-Skelly hilariously did City striker Haaland’s meditation celebration near the corner flag with his back towards the fans.

It clearly wasn’t planned as his team-mates huddled around him and laughed as he stood back up again.

Haaland’s celebration involves him sitting in a meditative pose, reminiscent of the ‘Lotus’ pose from yoga.

In this pose, he sits on the ground with his wrists on his knees and his fingers touching his thumb, embodying calm and inner peace.

But there was no peace in this game as Gabriel reignited his feud with Haaland after celebrating in his rival’s face at 1-0.

Meanwhile, Lewis-Skelly was memorably booked on the sidelines before his Prem debut against Man City in September.

He was caught in an exchange of words and referee Michael Oliver had no hesitation in dishing out a booking in September’s 2-2 draw.

I had a stroke & woke up talking with an Italian accent – I’ve even picked up new hand gestures… I feel like a stranger

A WOMAN has revealed that she’s started talking in a full-blown Italian accent after having a stroke, despite never having visited the country.

Althia Bryden, 58, who is retired and lives in London with husband Winston, 63, suffered the stroke in May last year and was initially unable to speak.

She was also not able to feel the upper right portion of her body for over three months due to a carotid web in her neck, which doctors believe could have caused the stroke.

When she was able to have it removed by surgery last August she was left dumfounded when she was finally able to talk.

Although she could speak, it was in an Italian accent.

Speaking on This Morning, she said: “I hadn’t heard my voice for a long time. When I spoke, I thought, ‘Who is it?’ I didn’t realize it was me.

“So you’re speaking, and you think it’s somebody else talking?

“Yes! I looked behind me in my hospital bed, wondering, ‘Who is speaking to me?’

“It was a big shock.

“I thought maybe because she had frightened me from my sleep—because, you know, in the hospital, they wake you so early in the morning—it was a dream.”

TV host Alison Hammond replied: “That must have been so weird, like somebody had taken over, like another character.”

Husband Winston shared how weird it had been for him when he arrived at the hospital and heard the Italian accent.

He said: “When I came into the ward, I looked at her and said, ‘Hi, darling.’

“She responded, ‘Hi, Bab,’ but the way she said it—I actually took a step back.

“She spoke again, and I was shocked.”

As well as adopting the new accent, Althia admitted she now slips Italian phrases into conversations, such as “mamma mia”, “bambino” and “si”, and has adopted hand gestures too.

Althia continued: “My life feels like a contradiction.

“I’m happy to speak again, but now I’m searching for my old sound, and it’s nowhere to be found.

“I feel like a stranger in my own body, and nobody can tell me why this is happening to me.

“I keep asking, ‘Why is this happening to me? Why do I speak like this?’ But nobody has an answer.

“I’ve realised it is a blessing. I think about the fact that I couldn’t speak before, and now I can.

“I don’t want to be ungrateful for my blessing.”

New accent cure?

Professor Nick Miller, an expert in neuroscience at Newcastle University, gave his views on Althia’s Foreign Accent Syndrome.

He shared: “It’s the label given to instances where someone has a stroke or another neurological disorder and suddenly starts sounding like they’re speaking with a foreign accent.

“They may have never spoken that language before, never been to that country, and never associated with that language.

What is foreign accent syndrome and what are the signs you must know?

Foreign accent syndrome is a rare speech disorder in which the person who has it sounds like they are from another country, experts at Winchester Hospital said.

Problems could last for months, years or could be permanent.

Symptoms of the condition might include:

  • making vowel sounds that are longer and lower (changes English ‘yeah’ to German ‘jah’
  • Changing sound quality by moving the tongue or jaw differently while speaking
  • Substituting words or using the wrong words to describe something
  • Putting sentences together the wrong way

“When a stroke affects parts of the brain that control speech—such as the tongue, lips, and vocal cords—it alters the strength, speed, and range of movements, which changes how speech sounds.

“This creates subtle shifts in pronunciation and rhythm that might resemble a foreign accent.”

When asked if there is a cure, he said: “The prognosis is good.

“Treatment can focus on speech therapy to help regain original pronunciation, or for functional cases, cognitive behavioral therapy to help regain control over speech.”

Eddie Jones highlights two key players who exposed the gap between Ireland and England in Six Nations clash

FORMER England boss Eddie Jones says James Lowe and Jamison Gibson-Park were the difference for Ireland in their Six Nations opener.

Simon Easterby’s side came from behind to beat their neighbours 27-22 in their opener fixture of the 2025 tournament.

Ireland are eyeing a record breaking three-in-a-row of Six Nations titles.

Despite trailing at half-time, they turned the game around with an explosive second-half display to run out winners in the Irish capital.

And former England and Australia boss Edide Jones hailed thwo standout performers, who he reckons exposed the gulf in class between the sides.

Speaking on ITV after the match, Jones singled out Jamison Gibson-Park and James Lowe for their inspirational displays for the reigning champions.

He praised man of the match Gibson-Park and his Leinster team-mate Lowe.

He said: “You saw the quality of Gibson-Park and Lowe in the second half,” Jones said.

“They controlled the game brilliantly, and the rest of the team followed their lead.”

Jones also said that England’s senior players must raise their levels in the weeks ahead.

The Japan coach added: “The difference in the second half was striking.

“Ireland sharpened up and used possession more effectively, while England’s intensity in defence dropped. That created the gap between the teams.”

Jones also admitted that he doesn’t envy England boss Steve Borthwick before saying he’s glad that he’s no longer in charge of the Red Roses.

He added: “I’m glad I’m not!” before offering a measured assessment of England’s positives.

“They showed resilience in the first half, particularly in defence and at the breakdown.

“But in the second half, they conceded too many penalties, allowing Ireland to find their rhythm.

“Staying disciplined and sticking to the basics under pressure is something they need to improve through hard work and repetition.”

Ireland travel to Scotland next week, while England host tournament favourites France at Twickenham.

The 1% Club fans brand final question ‘easiest ever’ as contestants fail to win £96k – but would you have got it right?

FANS of The 1% Club were left baffled as contestants failed to win a whopping £96,000 after getting the ‘easiest ever’ question wrong.

Viewers tuned in for the latest instalment of Lee Mack‘s ITV hit, which aired on Saturday.

Each word contained the names of metals[/caption]

It sees 100 contestants compete for a £100,000 prize pot by answering 15 logic-inspired questions that get progressively harder.

It kicks off with a question which 90 per cent of the population polled got right.

It then goes on to ask questions which smaller and smaller percentages of the country got right, culminating with a 1% question.

And this week there was five contestants left, vying to answer the final 1% Club question correctly.

They were given a choice of taking £10k home, which would see them all walk away with £2,000 or take on the question.

One player called Christoper decided to take his share and bow out, while the rest played on.

They were asked: “The words below share a specific pattern. Why could VOTING also be part of the group?'”

The words listed were Bandleader, Nickelodeo and Silverback.

While only one contestant attempted to answer the question, they got it wrong, meaning nobody took home cash.

Host Lee, 56, revealed that each word contained a metal – including lead, nickel, silver and tin.

Following the loss, ITV viewers at home branded the question the ‘easiest ever’ and flooded social media with comments.

One said: “That was the easiest 1% question I can remember. Thought it must be wrong as it couldn’t be that easy. Amazed not one of them had a clue.”

A second wrote: “Got this within five seconds was far too easy with silver and nickel as the start of the words and tin being the only other word in voting.”

“My 12-year-old got this. Metals in the words,” said a third.

While a fourth posted: “That seemed a pretty easy 1% Question to me?!”

Hardest Quiz Show Questions

Would you know the answers to some of quizzing TV's hardest questions

  • Who Wants To Be A Millionaire – Earlier this year, fans were left outraged after what they described as the “worst” question in the show’s history. Host Jeremy Clarkson asked: “From the 2000 awards ceremony onwards, the Best Actress Oscar has never been won by a woman whose surname begins with which one of these letters?” The multiple choice answers were between G, K, M and W. In the end, and with the £32,000 safe, player Glen had to make a guess and went for G. It turned out to be correct as Nicole Kidman, Frances McDormand and Kate Winslet are among the stars who have won the Best Actress gong since 2000.
  • The 1% Club – Viewers of Lee Mack’s popular ITV show were left dumbfounded by a question that also left the players perplexed. The query went as follows: “Edna’s birthday is on the 6th of April and Jen’s birthday falls on the 15th of October, therefore Amir’s birthday must be the ‘X’ of January.” It turns out the conundrum links the numbers with its position in the sentence, so 6th is the sixth word and 15th is the fifteenth word. Therefore, Amir’s birthday is January 24th, corresponding to the 24th word in the sentence.
  • The Chase – The ITV daytime favourite left fans scratching their heads when it threw up one of the most bizarre questions to ever grace the programme. One of the questions asked the player: “Someone with a nightshade intolerance should avoid eating what?” The options were – sweetcorn, potatoes, carrots – with Steve selecting sweetcorn but the correct answer was potatoes.
