PRINCE William could be Britain’s “Trump card” as insiders reveal plans for the royal to build a special relationship with the new President.
Royal experts have hinted the Prince of Wales could be the key to forging a better bond between the US leader and Sir Keir Starmer.

Insiders say royal aids want to push William into a global statesman figure[/caption]
Royal experts suggested the PM may clash more with the President[/caption]
It comes as the PM and Trump spoke for around 45 minutes on the phone after the inauguration last month.
At the end of last month, Foreign Secretary David Lammy said Starmer will travel to Washington to meet his counterpart “within the next few weeks”.
Sir Keir Starmer also met with Prince William at Kensington Palace for the first time since becoming the PM shortly after the phone call.
Cameron Walker, Royal Correspondent for GB News, told The Sun’s Royal Exclusive show: “The meeting took place at Kensington Palace and I understand it’s protocol that once a year the Prime Minister would be meeting Prince William.
“But I think it was telling that it was as soon after the PM had a phone call with the new President Trump.
“We know that royal sources and his aids want to push William into this global statesman figure and we know the Labour government isn’t going to get on much with President Trump and the Republican party in the US.
“So, is the Royal Family going to be the British government’s Trump card, pardon the pun, to get the trade tariffs off the table and create a better relationship with the US.”
The Sun’s Royal Editor Mr Wilkinson highlighted how these are “new things” for Prince William to get a grasp of.
Bronte Coy, Royal Reporter, News.co.au, added: “We are in a time of great global change, there are massive shifts in dynamics and we do know that Trump on the record has talked about how fond he is of Prince William and he does respond well with people he has that relationship with, where he admires them, respects them, as he did with the late queen and does with King Charles.
“It makes sense that William will be pushed forward as well along with the King to maintain those lines of communication that are quite friendly.
“It’s going to be very useful for the UK Government because their policies and the personality of the PM is very different to the new US administration.”
Mr Wilkinson also threw out questions surrounding Starmer and William’s relationship.
Mr Walker suggested any common ground would be found in issues surrounding the environment and conservation.
“Whoever is in government, Prince William will know as future king, he will have to find common ground with every politician,” he added.
The Sun’s Royal Editor highlighted how it is beneficial for the PM to have a good relationship with the Royal Family.
Ms Coy continued: “If they can work together and have a good relationship it will only be beneficial to everybody, but especially the PM.”
Mr Walker added: “Starmer can only dream of the approval rating Prince William has at the moment.
“The latest YouGov poll has him at around 80 per cent, most popular member of the royal family.”
This comes as the Home Secretary warned on Saturday that US trade tariffs risk having a “really damaging impact” on the global economy.
Donald Trump slapped a 25 per cent levy on goods from Mexico and Canada, with ten per cent on Chinese items.
Retaliatory measures are expected.
Yvette Cooper said: “Tariff increases right across the world can have a really damaging impact on global growth and trade, so I don’t think it’s what anybody wants to see.”
She added: “We want to reduce barriers to trade, make it easier for businesses.”
Trump has also indicated that the EU could also be hit with tariffs on goods.
He also says Canada should become the 51st state in America to avoid the levies.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, he wrote the tariffs will be worth the “pain” to help create a “golden age of America”.
Sir Keir, who heads to Brussels for talks today said that he wants a “strong trading relationship” with the US.
But Reform leader Nigel Farage said: “Cosying up to the EU at the very moment Trump is putting tariffs on the world is a bad look.
“Starmer must use our Brexit freedoms, not surrender them.”

Trump and Starmer speak on the phone for first time in 45 minute chat and 'agree to meet soon'
By Noa Hoffman
The PM and Trump spoke for around 45 minutes, covering trade, the economy and Britain’s plan to spark a bonfire of growth-impeding red tape at the end of last month.
In his first call with a European leader, Trump discussed his love for the Royal Family and happiness at the return of British-Israeli hostage Emily Damari from Hamas’ terror dungeons.
The PM applauded the top deal broker for securing a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas – an issue his predecessor Joe Biden failed at for months.
A Downing Street spokesperson said: “The Prime Minister thanked President Trump for his kind words and congratulated him on his inauguration.
“The two leaders stressed the importance of the close and warm ties between the UK and the US.
“They agreed to meet soon and looked forward to further discussions then.”
The president also offered his condolences to Sir Keir following the death of his brother.
Hours before the call Trump gave the PM a surprise boost as he declared the Labour leader has done a “very good job thus far”.
The president confessed to having a “very good relationship” with Sir Keir, despite calls from his top ally and tech billionaire Elon Musk for the PM to resign.
On board the Presidential jet Air Force One, Trump said: “I get along with him well. I like him a lot.
“He’s liberal, which is a bit different from me, but I think he’s a very good person and I think he’s done a very good job thus far.
“He’s represented his country in terms of philosophy.
“I may not agree with his philosophy, but I have a very good relationship with him.”

There are seven swimming pools across the resort for kids of all ages and even a rooftop pool[/caption]
The family-friendly resort has it’s Star Camp children’s programme, with activities such as paddleboarding in the pool, play beach volleyball, even DJ classes.
Along with a kid’s playground , trampoline area and ball pit, the children’s activities finish with a live evening show and sunset cinema too.

One TikTok travel mum raved about it on social media, praising the self-serve rooftop bar serving drinks and slushies.
She also praised the quirky retro ice cream parlour that looks like something from the 1950s.
Another big feature of the hotel is the slide down to the lobby which some parents believe to be a game changer.
In the comments, one said they would be adding the resort to their list “purely for the slide” at the reception.
Another explained how the slide had “saved so many parents from being interrupted” at the check out desk.
Outside of the kids activities there are seven pools to choose from – including an indoor heated one in case of bad weather.
Adults can head to the spa for a massage, or try their hand at tennis with on-site courts.
In the hotel there’s also a Mexican restaurant, Greek restaurant, and a café that’s open 24 hours a day.
The hotel even offers free child places with certain trips for kids up to 14 years old.
Even better is it is right on the beach, with Playa de Muro said to be one of the best in Spain.
Rooms start from as little as £98 a night for the most basic rate.

The Albufera Park is across from its sister hotel Albufera Playa – which is more suited to adults.
It’s still a great place for adults from fitness sessions to other activities like cocktail making, spin classes and a spa.
For anyone who wants to venture outside of the resort, the hotel is close to the Albufera Natural Park.
You can hire bikes from the hotel (at an extra cost), and take a stroll around the wetlands.
Designed with families in mind there’s a slide for kids next to the stairs at reception[/caption]
The beach hotel has 260 rooms, seven pools, six restaurants and three bars[/caption]
