First ‘approved’ iPhone porn app Hot Tub is launched on App Store alternative – but Apple issues urgent warning to users

THE first porn app has dropped on iPhones through an App Store alternative but Apple has issued a warning to its users.

Apple has always banned pornography from its iOS marketplace but a change in EU laws has allowed the app Hot Tub to become available.

This first-of-a-kind Apple app will be available through the App Store alternative AltStore PAL.

European users will be able to download the Hot Tub app onto their devices from today.

A landmark EU digital law change meant Apple was forced to loosen its grip on the apps users are able to access and download on products like iPhones and iPads.

Since the App Store opened in 2008, Apple has had strict control over what users can download on their devices.

Apple famously prohibited “overtly sexual or pornographic material” on its own iOS store, as Steve Jobs once said it had “a moral responsibility to keep porn off the iPhone”.

Despite this, Apple was forced to change its strict stance after it became the first tech giant to be accused of breaking the EU’s new Digital Markets Act.

This 2022 law forced Apple to allow alternative app stores to be used.

AltStore PAL said the new porn app had been “approved” by the tech giant.

The App Store alternative said it passed all of Apple’s baseline “notarization” checks for fraud, security threats, and functionality checks.

This process however does not involve approving an app’s content.

Despite this, Apple has issued a warning against the new iPhone app.

The tech giant even alleged Hot Tub was a danger to children, in a statement to The Verge.

An Apple spokesperson said: “We are deeply concerned about the safety risks that hardcore porn apps of this type create for EU users, especially kids.

“This app and others like it will undermine consumer trust and confidence in our ecosystem that we have worked for more than a decade to make the best in the world.”

Why can you download apps on App Store alternatives?

Apple has strictly controlled what its users can download onto their devices since the App Store opened in 2008.

A 2022 EU law forced the tech giant to allow third-party app storefronts to operate on it’s phones, computers, and tablets.

Apple was accused of breaking the Digital Markets Act antitrust laws.

These new rules are an attempt to level the playing field for smaller tech companies.

Therefore, iPhone users in the EU can now use third-party app marketplaces like AltStore PAL or Epic Games to find different apps.

The DMA also allowed Apple users to set the default web browser of their choice on iPads and allow headphones and smart pens to access iPad OS features.

Apple hit back at AltStore PAL’s claims that the Silicon Valley giant had “approved” the porn site.

It added: “Contrary to the false statements made by the marketplace developer, we certainly do not approve of this app and would never offer it in our App Store.

“The truth is that we are required by the European Commission to allow it to be distributed by marketplace operators like AltStore and Epic who may not share our concerns for user safety.”

This development has kicked off a spat between tech giants as AltStore has received backing from Epic Games, the creator of Fortnite.

In a post on X, Epic Games Chief Executive Tim Sweeney said his firm has supported laws like DMA because “when Apple are allowed to be the gatekeeper of competing apps and stores, they grossly misuse that power to disadvantage competition.”

He added that Epic’s own app store in the EU, which rolled out last year, is not carrying the Hot Tub app and has never hosted porn apps.

Martin Clunes’ ex wife Lucy reveals brutal final comment that ended their marriage

MARTIN Clunes’ first wife Lucy Aston has revealed a brutal comment that ended their marriage for good.

The pair tied the knot in 1990, but their marriage ended just three years later following what was described as the “final straw” during a heated row at a Chinese restaurant.

Their first year of marriage was blissful, but cracks appeared when Martin’s, 63, career took off, while Lucy continued to work in a food shop.

But it came to a head when the Doc Martin star allegedly “forgot” to invite Lucy to a party.

Lucy claimed he called her “dull and boring” as she swapped their “party animal” nights out for studying to be a crisis counsellor.

Things hit breaking point when an argument broke out between then at a restaurant and Martin allegedly told Lucy: “You are an embarrassment.”

“He told me I was boring and different and I just thought: ‘No more.’ I stood up and said ‘thanks for dinner – this is the end’ and stormed out. I sat in the car shaking with rage,” Lucy told the Mirror.

“Later I went back and Martin was sitting there, surrounded by take- away cartons filled with our meal. He just looked at me. I took off my gold wedding ring, slammed it on the table and walked out.

“We both knew it was over. I was furious when I found out he had gone to a party without telling me.

“Worse than that, he had said he was going out with just a couple of male actor friends.

“He tried to make out he had told me, but the truth is he just didn’t want me there. The sad thing is I had become an embarrassment to him.”

Martin later claimed he and Lucy had put their differences aside enough to become “friends”.

“We had a problem enjoying each other but now I can enjoy Lucy again. We are friends and can appreciate each other,” he said.

But in 2008 he called their marriage “rotten”.

He told the Mail: “I don’t know if I was searching for anything. Maybe I was. I kind of found it without looking.

“When I met Philippa I was coming out of a rotten marriage, and was very resistant to the idea of getting involved again.”

Martin went on to marry Philippa Braithwaite in 1997.

Martin told The Mirror: “We met while working together, it’s the way it’s always been for us and it’s absolutely fine.”

He added: “Yes, it’s nice spending a bit of time on the farm on my own, but all I know is that I’m happiest when Philippa is by my side.

“We usually cook together. When we have a roast on a Sunday, for instance, I’m the one in charge of the meat and the gravy!”

Martin decided to pop the question while he was doing a holiday programme and he managed to fly Philippa out to the Hawaii shoot.

Talking to Irish News, Martin recalled: “It was the longest we’d been apart, and I missed her so much that I proposed, while she was really jet lagged and in such a strange place.”

After the proposal the couple tied the knot in 1997 with a small ceremony, followed by an after-party at The Savoy hotel in London.

Do they have kids?

The couple have a daughter born in 1999, called Emily, who as a youngster appeared in one episode of Doc Martin.

According to Linkedin, the 23-year-old went to Hartpury University and studied Equine Science, Equestrian/ Equine studies.

She now works as a manager for the Cheddington Equestrian Therapy and Rehabilitation centre.

I love expensive salon haircare as I’m a hairdresser – I just found a £3 M&S buy that’s as good as my £60 one

IS one of your goals for 2025 to grow longer and healthier locks – but you don’t want to fork out a fortune on professional haircare?

Now one hairdresser and TikToker Lanni has revealed a purse-friendly shampoo and conditioner combo which she claims is as good as posh salon range.

Bargain-mad beauty buffs can snap up this shampoo and conditioner for less than a fiver each[/caption]

Raving about the bargain deals, the dark-haired beauty took to her social media page to show off the affordable Marks & Spencer goodies.

0ne of them was M&S Volumising Shampoo which, the brand claims, ”enhances fine hair for a fuller, bountiful appearance with every wash”.

Specially formulated to lift from the roots without weighing down your locks, this sulphate and silicone-free shampoo features micro algae extract to rebalance the scalp and pink grapefruit extract with jojoba oil for weightless hydration.

Setting you back just £3 for a 300ml bottle, the haircare essential is also enhanced with the scents of orchid and waterlily for a fresh, vibrant finish.

Also going for under a fiver is the mega supermarket’s Nourishing Conditioner, which ensures silky, manageable locks with every use.

Blended with hydrating ingredients, it restores moisture and vibrancy to each strand, keeping hair healthy and lustrous.

Infused with micro algae extract to rebalance the scalp, plus bergamot water and coconut oil for added moisture.

What’s more, the budget-friendly conditioner is also sulphate and silicone-free and boasts a vegan formula.

Despite being used to spending a fortune on maintaining her enviable tresses, Lanni said she was ”impressed” by the difference the cheap shampoo and conditioner made.

”Picked these up in M&S. I normally spend so much money on my shampoo and conditioner, like a professional salon one.

”But these – honestly, just as good as my £60 ones,” said the hairdresser who rated the bargain buys with an impressive ”10/10”.

Urging fellow beauty buffs to not sleep on the £3 bargains, Lanni went on in the caption: ”My hair feels so lightweight and moisturised and every time I turn my head I can smell the most gorgeous smell.”

She said in the video: ”Girls, you have to try the new M&S haircare range – WOW!

”Just as good as, if not better, than my salon-quality ones.

”The best £3 you’ll ever spend on your hair.”

How often should you be washing your hair?

Anabel Kingsley, Consultant Trichologist and Brand President at Philip Kingsley spoke exclusively to Fabulous.

You take your hair and scalp to the same places you take your face, and it gets just as dirty.

Your scalp is also a living tissue; it sweats, produces oils and sheds skin cells.

You wouldn’t leave two days between washing your face, and you likely wouldn’t wear the same outfit more than a few times before washing it – apply the same thinking to your hair.

It is a myth that washing your hair too often causes your hair to get greasier.

‘I’ll be trying these’

Dozens of TikTok users flooded to comments where many thanked the hair pro for sharing the epic buys.

”Thank you for this! I’ve been looking for alternatives for sulphate free shampoo and conditioner- I’ll be trying these,” wrote one person.

Someone else chimed in: ”I use these, only bad thing is the bottles are really hard to squeeze it out.”

”I will definitely try these I spend so much on shampoo etc,” another said.

Thanks to Vicky Wardle’s budget TikTok purchases, she was able to make her bathroom look bigger and wider, without breaking the bank[/caption]

Thanks to cheap TikTok purchases and a lick of paint, Vicky Wardle was able to turn her once very grey loo into a chic and modern space.

Eager to show off her toilet’s renovation, Vicky took to social media to share a before and after look, leaving many open-mouthed.

Posting on DIY On A Budget, a private Facebook group with 2.2 million members, Vicky posted before and after snaps of the toilet and claimed that it cost her less than £100 to give it a freshen up.

Alongside her post, Vicky beamed: “Cost me around £65 for everything.”

Vicky explained that rather than splashing out on an expert to panel her loo, instead she nabbed a purse-friendly panelling kit from TikTok shop.

The MDF panelling kit cost her just £30 for 28 panels, and she confirmed that she also used caulk to fill in the gaps around it.

When it came to the floor, Vicky used rustic self-adhesive tiles to give the space a freshen up, also from TikTok shop.

As well as this, Vicky used Dulux Matt Emulsion Paint in the shade Overtly Olive, to ensure her space looked trendy and bright.

If you’re a fan of the chic green colour, you can nab the same paint from B&Q, Dunelm, Wickes and Screwfix, just to name a few.

Not only did Vicky save hundreds of pounds by carrying out the renovations herself, but we think it looks brilliant too.

Social media users were clearly very impressed with Vicky’s DIY makeover, as her post has quickly racked up almost 600 likes and 77 comments in just two days.
