Newcastle fans deserve a trophy and this is the year they’ll get it thanks to ‘Playstation-like’ Alexander Isak

GET THE BEERS on ice because Tyneside is set for the mother of all parties next month.

That is at least according to Newcastle legend Shay Given as he confidently declared: “This is the year!”

Newcastle are hoping Alexander Isak can fire them to Wembley[/caption]

The 1955 FA Cup is the last piece of major silverware that the Magpies lifted, however, that long-wait for more is about to end with “Playstation-like” Alexander Isak firing them to glory.

Having seen them blow it several times over the past seven decades, few of the Toon Army are allowing themselves to dream just yet.

That is even despite them going into tonight’s Carabao Cup semi-final second-leg on home turf with a 2-0 lead over Arsenal

Though Given, who spent 12 years as No1 at Newcastle, has no splinters in his backside as he nailed his black and white colours firmly to the cup.

He believes that after coming so close to winning it two years ago when they were beaten by Man Utd, the former Irish star insists they’ll go one better this time around.

And that is despite them losing their last two matches on home turf.

Given said: “Look, it’s been 70 years. Even if you’re a neutral fan that doesn’t even support Newcastle it must be getting to the stage where you just wish that their fans could do it.

“We’re talking about generations of fans that have just never seen it before. You know, it’s so long. It’s crazy when you think about it.

“I just hope they can get the job done with Arsenal and then of course get to the final.

“A lot of players will have played in that final as well, which is a good thing I think, because they can use that experience to help them as well.

“So yeah, let’s go with it. This is the year, man. This is the year.”

Given is one of those that have come agonisingly close to delivering glory to the long-suffering Toon Army.

He was part of the Newcastle squad that suffered two-successive FA Cup Final defeats in the late 90s.

That side even included the club’s all-time top scorer Alan Shearer in its ranks.

But Given believes the Magpies now possess another great leading the line in Isak.

He said: “The goal against Southampton recently, if you slow it down and look at the angle and his run. His first touch made the goal, just the way he touches with his left away from the defender and then placed it in the corner. It’s nearly like PlayStation stuff.

“It was the perfect movement from a forward. We see many forwards in the Premier League and snatching at stuff when they get through on goal, he seems to go the opposite.

“He seems to just go into sort of ice cold mode in the head and everything just seems to be in slow motion for him.

“I just think he’s a real deal. I really do. There’s a lot of clubs who wish they could have him.”

As Given knows full well himself, nothing is ever straightforward when it comes to Newcastle United Football Club.

And after a 4-1 stuffing at home to Bournemouth was followed by a 2-1 loss to Fulham on Saturday, nerves are jangling that Arsenal could make it an unwanted hat-trick of setbacks at St James’.

Given, though, has other thoughts regarding the recent setbacks on Tyneside, saying: “Maybe it was the perfect tonic leading into the semi.

“The psychology of the Newcastle players and I suppose the crowd as well will be like this is not over yet and I’m sure that’s the message that Eddie will have. He was sending that straight after the game.

“You know, if Arsenal get an early goal, then it’s an anxious night, isn’t it? So there’s so much to do yet in the tie.

“Newcastle never seem to do it the easy way but to earn something like this, it’s never easy, is it? So they’ve got a lot of work still to do but they’re in a good position and have to use what they’ve done.

“I wouldn’t want to see too much of a defensive sort of job. I’d like to see Newcastle on the front foot again and try and get a goal themselves, you know, rather than trying to defend the 2-0 lead.

“You have to go with a nil nil mentality. That’s why I think that you start the game on the front foot, especially at home. The last thing the crowd and Eddie will want is a nervy start.

“There’s a big prize at stake, a place at Wembley. That’ll be all on everyone’s mind, players and fans.

“I think Eddie Howe’s teams, and credit to Eddie and his staff, that’s how he’s always went about his business, home and away.”

How 'big angel' Joelinton rescued boss after he fainted in Subway

NEWCASTLE cult hero Joelinton rescued his old boss after he fainted in Subway.

And coach Pellegrino Matarazzo still calls the Brazilian his ‘angel’.

Matarazzo was Joelinton assistant manager during the midfielder’s spell in Germany with Hoffenheim.

Recalling the scary incident, the Matarazzo revealed: “I was standing in the queue and I wasn’t feeling well.

“I tried to go over to the Coca-Cola machine to quickly get a drink.

“I realised I was about to faint, and I did faint.

“When I opened my eyes I saw Joelinton! ‘Rino, Rino, are you okay?’

“He was like a small, no a big, angel – Joelinton, what are you doing here?”

‘Sick of talking about him’ – Nathan Aspinall reacts after coming off social media following questions about darts rival

NATHAN ASPINALL has hit back after critics slammed his inclusion in the Premier League.

The competition starts in Belfast tomorrow with Luke Littler, Luke Humphries, Michael van Gerwen, Gerwyn Price, Rob Cross, Stephen Bunting, Chris Dobey and The Asp chosen as the eight players this year.

Many thought Aspinall would drop out after an underwhelming 2024.

Despite making the quarter-final of the World Championships, the likes of Mike De Decker, Dave Chisnall, Damon Heta and Dimitri Van den Bergh were all tipped to replace him.

De Decker, who won the Grand Prix last year, slammed the decision as “scandalous” and “s***”.

He also claimed that Price and Aspinall did not deserve their spots, with the latter only chosen because of his fan’s favourite walk-on to Mr Brightside by The Killers.

Chisnall added fuel to the fire, saying: “It should be about the darts, and not your walk-on.”

Aspinall has now hit back ahead of Prem night one, telling Sky Sports: “I came off social media for a start. I said it recently, the only opinion that matters is the PDC’s.

“People are entitled to their opinion, people are entitled to favourites.

“But for me, the only opinions that matter are Matt Porter’s and the PDC’s and they put me in so I am in.

“I don’t need to prove anything. I am really good friends with Chizzy and it isn’t Dave who would have written that. I have no issues with Dave because he won’t have written that.

“That is a separate issue that I will deal with and I am not going to talk about Mike De Decker. I am sick of talking about Mike De Decker.”

There are just two changes to last year’s line-up as Bunting and Dobey are in for two ex-world champs Michael Smith and Peter Wright.

The EIGHT new car brands coming to UK for first time this year including Tesla rival & EV firm creating ‘flying cars’

EIGHT new car brands are set to land in the UK for the first time this year including a major Tesla rival and an EV firm that creates “flying cars.”

Almost all of the new manufacturers are Chinese, with one coming from nearby France.

Fans of compact vehicles will also be excited to hear French carmaker Mobilize will sell its tiny vehicles in the UK this year[/caption]

This influx of carmakers is not entirely unexpected as China is the world’s largest market for new cars, with more than 30 million units sold there in 2023.

Naturally, many of these auto firms would want to bring their products, many of which are hybrids and EVs, to Europe and the UK.

Autocar created a list of eight key brands that will be making this journey.

First up is Chinese carmaker Onvo, which was only founded last year but has already pitched itself as a rival to both Tesla and Polestar.

The Shanghai-based company, owned by parent company Nio, has chosen the UK before the EU because of a lack of import tariffs in Britain for Chinese-built EVs.

Its L60 will be the first to arrive on UK soil and it has been described by its maker as the most aerodynamically efficient SUV on the market.

The motor will likely be available with three BYD-supplied battery packs, the largest of which will offer a whopping 620 miles of range, according to China‘s generous CLTC test cycle.

Next up is another Chinese manufacturer, Xpeng, which attracted fame for its “flying cars”.

The Chinese Tesla, which has offices in California and Munich, was founded in 2014 and is set to export its electric SUV, the Xpeng G6, to the UK this year.

Described as a rival to the Tesla Model Y, the car comes in three versions: the single motor Standard Range, single-motor Long Range, and dual-motor Performance.

While those first two versions have been confirmed for UK sale, the latter has yet to have been.

Following on is Chinese carmaker Denza, which has been around since 2010 and acts as the premium line of its sibling brand BYD.

Originally a joint venture with Mercedes, its first Europe-bound car is the Z9 GT, a 925bph electric luxury motor.

Denza also aims to ship its mid-sized Bao 5, a Land Rover Defender-sized SUV, to the UK at some point too.

Following along after that is Chinese manufacturer Firefly, which operates the budget brands of parent company Nio.

Its EV rivals the Renault 5 and is currently priced at just £16,000 in China.

While it will no doubt cost more when it lands in the UK, the supermini will likely still be one of the cheapest electric cars on the market.

Adding on to its Chinese counterparts, Jaecoo, a brand under state-owned company Chery founded in 1997, is also set to make its UK entrance.

Chery is best known as the joint-venture partner of Jaguar Land Rover, handling the group’s production for the local market in China.

Jaecoo’s 7 SUV will be the first to land on UK soil and it’s of a comparable size to a Hyundai Tucson and comes with petrol and plug-in hybrid powertrains.

It is also establishing a dealer network of 50 sites while its franchise partners Endeavour Automotive, Listers and Peter Very are already committed to sales.

Also making the list is Leapmotor, a standalone Chinese carmaker which sold its first vehicles back in 2019.

Stellantis has secured exclusive rights to exports its motors outside of China and plans to begin sales in the UK this year with three models.

This includes the Dacia Spring-rivalling 3620mm-long Leapmotor T03 that comes with a 34-mile range advantage on its Romanian competitor.

Another Renault 5 rival, the crossover-styled B10 will join it alongside the 262-mile range C10 family SUV.

Yangwang, also owned under BYD, is the last of the Chinese brands to be making their UK entrance.

The prestige brand’s largest car, the Yangwang U8 SUV, is expected to arrive later this year.

Powered by quad motors, the off-roader can float in water for up to 30 minutes, produces 1180bhp, and has a kerb weight of nearly 3500kg.

The range-extended vehicle comes with four motors, a 49kWh battery and a 2.0L turbocharged petrol engine that works as a generator

Finally, French carmaker Mobilize also sneaks into the mix with its Duo, which is reminiscent of parent company Renault’s Twizy.

Taking on the likes of the Citroen Ami and Micro Microlino, the Mobilize Duo has a large-battery version that claims to be able to cover 100 miles.

A van version, the Benton, swaps the single rear seat for more boot space.

Nepo baby with TWO Hollywood A-lister parents lands new role alongside House Of Dragon star – can you guess who she is?

THIS nepo baby with two very famous parents has just landed herself a huge acting job alongside a House of the Dragon star.

The blonde actress will be appearing alongside Emily Carey, who played Lady Alicent Hightower in the HBO series, in a new off-Broadway play.

She has two A-list parents and is a third generation actress[/caption]

But do you know who she is?

The thespian in question is Ella Stiller, who is the daughter of Hollywood A-lister Ben Stiller.

Ella’s mum is also Christine Taylor, who starred as Bonnie in Friends and in The Brady Bunch Movie and Zoolander.

The young actress, 22, has joined the cast of Before This New Year, a play written by Liana Sonenclar that will run Off-Broadway in New York City.

Ella will take on the role of Jen in the play, which is about a former high school track star called Alison Bennett.

Alison is played by Kaci Walfall, who previously took on the title role in the DC superhero show Naomi.

English actress Emily, who has also starred as a young Lara Croft in the 2018 reboot of Tomb Raider, plays a former teammate of Alison called Haley.

The girls meet up again some years after graduation and ‘confront some tricky feelings’.

Ella is Emmy winner Ben and Catherine’s eldest child. They are also parents to son Quinlin, 19.

The siblings’ grandparents are the late Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara, who performed together in the 1960s as comedy team Stiller and Meara.

Ella has always known she wanted to join her family‘s dynasty of stars and become an actress.

In June last year, she graduated from the prestigious Juilliard School with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in acting.

Gushing on Instagram at the time, she said: “I couldn’t be happier to be done or prouder to have survived or more grateful to my family for the unwavering support that got me there and through.”

Ella then joked: “I have a degree in playing pretend!!! Yay!!!”

In 2019, Meet The Parents star Ben appeared on The Ellen Degeneres Show and Ella supporting him from the studio audience.

Ellen asked Ella if she wanted to go into acting, to which she nodded and replied: “Yeah!”

When asked if he was “happy about that”, Ben replied: “I am happy.

“She loves it and she’s very passionate about it and she knows what she wants to do.

“I knew when I was 10 or 11 years old that I wanted to direct movies and eventually act too.

“But I think, yeah, you know, it’s a crazy business so I just want to support her in it in any way possible…legally!”

Before This New Year, which kicks off next month, is Ella’s first Off-Broadway role, however she has a number of screen credits to her name.

Ella had a role in the 2018 limited series Escape at Dannemora, which was directed by her dad Ben, and in the Adam Sandler hit Hubie Halloween in 2020.

She also has a string of voice acting roles on her resumé.

Last year, Ben admitted he would like to one day work with Ella and her younger brother Quinlin, who is also forging his own career in the industry.

He told E! News: “Both my kids are actors and not really kids anymore. And they’re both really good, so it’d be fun to work with them.

“I have done a couple of little things with them, but I’d love to [work with them in a movie]. It’d be really fun.”

He added: “I think eventually they’ll probably be directing and producing stuff that I’ll be asking them to cast me in. That’s how it goes.”

I’m 7 months pregnant & sleeping with men who aren’t my husband – he even helps me shave ‘down there’ before dates

WHEN you’re seven months pregnant, a lot of every day tasks can feel more difficult.

One woman shared how grateful she was that her man helped her shave “down there” but people were shocked to learn the reason why.

A pregnant woman in an open relationship revealed that her husband helps her shave ‘down there’ before her dates[/caption]

In her viral video, TikTok user Jessica Daylover (@remodeledlove) revealed that her husband was helping her prepare for a date with another man.

The couple have been together since 2009 and officially tied the knot in 2013.

Just before their nuptials, Jessica, who identifies as demi-sexual, and her husband Joe, who jokes that he is “apologetically heterosexual,” decided to open up their relationship.

While they explained that they have always faced backlash over their polyamorous lifestyle, it wasn’t until the now 35-year-old became pregnant with their son did the hate heighten.

“I was never criticised more for being polyamorous than when I was pregnant,” Jessica said.

She pointed out that this is likely because most people associate open relationships with sex.

Despite their online trolls, Jessica decided to share the supportive nature of her relationship.

The TikToker filmed her 40-year-old husband as he helped her prepare for a date night with one of her other partners.

“My husband lady-scaping me at before a date with my boyfriend because I’m seven months pregnant and can’t see it anymore,” she captioned the clip.

The video, taken from Jessica’s point of view, showed how her baby bump blocked her from carrying out the action herself.

When she asked her husband why he was helping her, he replied that he knew being well-groomed was important to her and he wanted her to feel comfortable.

Joe also joked that he “kind of enjoys” the task and didn’t see why it was considered “controversial” to help his wife.

Jessica encouraged any women interested in her husband to “slide into my DMs.”

TikTok users shared their thoughts on the unique set up in the comments section.

“I legit thought I was the only woman alive that had a husband who likes to groom her for dates! This, this is poly love,” wrote one viewer.

What is polyamory?

Polyamory is the practice of having romantic relationships with more than one person at the same time, with the knowledge and consent of all parties.

It can refer to relationships where one person has multiple partners or spouses, or where all parties are in a relationship with each other, for example in a throuple.

According to You Gov, 6.8% of people in the UK have been in a polyamorous relationship.

“Honestly, this is the best, most pure representation of love I’ve ever seen. Just your overall relationship is awesome!” said another supportive follower.

“This is actually so sweet,” agreed a third commenter.

However, other people were less open-minded about the couple’s arrangement.

“So who’s baby is that then? Isn’t that weird with the baby? How would the baby feel when it gets older?” asked one TikTok user.

“I’m just trying to understand how the relationship works between all three,” said another viewer.

“Legit thought the boyfriend part was a joke as in she’s going to see her baby doctor but nope,” commented a third person.

Jess Harding‘s incredible transformation began after she won Love Island in 2023 with her ex-Sammy Root – who is now on All Stars.

As her former boyfriend goes back to his villa roots, she used the opportunity to show off the ‘tweakments’ she’s had done to her face.

The work she has had done includes lip, cheek and chin filler.

“My personal transformation over the past 5+ years as an Aesthetics Practitioner,” she penned on her aesthetics Instagram page alongside a before snap and an after snap.

“Of course growing up and coming into my features naturally has played its part but Aesthetic treatments have definitely made a difference too (along with learning how to do my makeup),” she went on.

She added: “Just a little reminder that when done correctly and with a natural approach, Aesthetic treatments can create subtle yet amazing changes over time! choose your practitioner wisely.”

Reacting to the “glow up”, fans went wild in the comment section underneath Jess’ before and after snaps.

“Gorgeous darling,” penned one.

TRANSPARENT STAR

“Love the transparency gorgeous,” said another.

“Glow up girlie xx,” declared a third.

A fourth person then added: “Honest, real and gorgeous inside and out, before and now! keep shining queen xx.”

“Gorgeous girl before and after,” said a fifth.

A sixth then penned: “I love the transparency! You’re beautiful inside and out!”

But a seventh fumed: “Why not just be natural? I don’t get all this fake look!”

Just a couple of months after Jess and her then-boyfriend Sammy left the villa in 2023 as champions, they split.

The pair’s split came shortly after they won the £50,000 prize pot on the hit reality-dating show.

Jess told Sammy their relationship was over by phone – before news of their split leaked online while she was partying in Ibiza with pals.

Tiny UK seaside town rocked by earthquake as ‘violent BANG like a rocket launch’ wakes up Brits in early hours

A TINY seaside town has been rocked by an earthquake today with locals woken up by the “loud rumblings”.

The 2.2 magnitude tremor was logged by the British Geological Survey in Oban at 3.03am.

Oban, the Seafood Capital of Scotland, has been rocked by an earthquake[/caption]

It was centred in Glen Lonan, about two miles from the town, at a depth of 2km but was even felt many miles away on the Isle of Mull.

On social media, residents reported feeling the ground shake with one describing it as “a rocket launch”.

Others said their walls were “shaking”.

The tremor only lasted for a short while with some suggesting less than 10 seconds.

BGS said it was “felt by people in Oban, Mull and surrounding villages in the Argyll and Bute region, mainly from within around 10km of the epicentre”.

Reports described it as “more the sound of an explosion than a rumble” and “there was a violent crack and a bang”.

This is the second earthquake in the West Highlands this year.

A 2.9 magnitude quake was felt in Oban, Strontian, Mull and Kilmore on January 5 at around 9pm in the evening.

One social media user warned: “Small ones for now, until a massive one hits one day.”

There are roughly 200-300 quakes in Britain every year, but the vast majority are so small that no one notices them.

However between 20-30 are over 2.0 magnitude which can be felt over a wider area.

The largest known Scottish earthquake occurred near Loch Awe in 1880 with a magnitude of 5.2.

Earthquakes in Scotland are most often attributed to glacial rebound.

The most damaging UK earthquake was in the Colchester area in 1884.

Some 1200 buildings needed repairs, chimneys collapsed and walls were cracked.

Scotland has been battered by more than 4,000 earthquakes in the past 50 years.

But few have had a significant impact on residents.
