THE public has been warned to stay away from an Irish hospital because of overcrowding.

The HSE said only go to the A&E Department at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda if your life is at risk.

The hospital is suffering from extreme overcrowding[/caption]

There are currently 43 patients waiting for beds at the Hospital which has been battling a flu and Covid-19 outbreaks over the past several weeks.

There are also five people waiting for beds at nearby Navan Hospital.

The HSE said: “Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital has remained extremely busy over the last few days.

“There are a high number of patient presentations to the Emergency Department.

“The most critically ill patients are prioritised for treatment and available beds.

“As a result some patients may experience dalys in being seen. Patients attending with minor injuries will experience longer wait times in the Emergency Department.

“We would encourage the public to attend the Emergency Department for emergencies only at this time.”

Patients are advised to contact their GP and out of hours doctors on call if they are sick.

The INMO slammed the latest trolley surge nationwide and the HSE management had failed to plan to cope with it.

Meanwhile, the HSE has issued a major safety alert over four popular e-cigarettes – with bosses warning the public to “stop using these products.”

The seized items all contain illegal amounts of nicotine.

The HSE took to X to warn buyers not to use the products, as they are illegal under Irish law.

The e-cigarettes involved are the following:

• ADADA A8 1200 puff. Sub-brands (flavours): Vanilla Coke
• The Crystal PRO MAX 4000+ puff. Sub-brands (flavours): Watermelon Ice BatchNo. MAX20230407
• Savage Vape. Sub-brands (flavours): Kiwi Passion Fruit Guava 5% Nicotine
• McKesse MK Bar 7000 12ml. Sub-brand (flavour): Lime Mojito 12ml. Batch Number: Exp: 31/12/2023

Test results for the four products showed that the legal nicotine concentration was exceeded, with sample results ranging between 26.9mg/ml and 30mg/ml.

The legal nicotine concentration for electronic cigarettes in Ireland is 20mg/ml.

The HSE said: “Our National Environmental Health Service has issued four safety alert notices regarding e-cigarette products.

“We are asking the public to stop using these products because they contain illegal amounts of nicotine.

“People can return these items to the shop where they were purchased, and we have asked retailers to stop selling them.

“We have also contacted distributors and importers of e-cigarettes and refill containers to inform them of this issue.”

A MUM-TO-BE has been slammed after “simplifying” the spelling of a Scottish baby name – with people saying it’s insulting and looks made up.

Picking a moniker for your little one can be an incredibly difficult task as you want to make sure you choose something special, but not so unique that your child gets bullied over it.

Some people opt to name their child after their favourite book or film character, or even celebrities.

Others find inspiration from relatives and their family roots.

One woman, however, has revealed that her plans to give her little girl a Scottish name could “curse her to a lifetime of mispronunciation”.

Posting on Reddit, the American mum-to-be said: “My husband loves the Scottish name Eilidh (as do I, but I have a few others ahead of it in my list).

“But to even consider it as a first name, I feel like we’d have to make it easier for an American to pronounce as that is where we live.

“My husband disagrees, he thinks we should just keep the traditional spelling, but I feel like that would be borderline cruel.”

As a solution, she’s suggested an alternative spelling that people in the USA may find easier to say.

She added: “The correct pronunciation is ay-lee. Would spelling it ‘Aylee’ be simple enough?

“Another question, does spelling it different for easier pronunciation ruin the name? I typically hate when people take liberties with the spelling of names, but this seems different as it’s more to help instead of just trying to be ‘unique’.”

Eilidh is a Scottish Gaelic name for girls that means torch or shining one.

In Scotland, it was the baby name of choice for 122 parents in 2023. But, unsurprisingly, no babies were named Aylee in that same time period.

And the pregnant woman’s ‘simplified’ spelling of the name has sparked debate on social media.

Some Reddit users have agreed that it would be easier for the child growing up in America as many people would struggle with the traditional version.

One said: “I would have had NO IDEA how to pronounce that name. Aylee is beautiful and much more digestible way to spell it for us In the old US of A.”

A second wrote: “You do not live in a place with Gaelic speakers. Your child will have to pronounce her name every single time she meets a new person.

“Like, her teachers won’t even know how to begin saying her name without her assistance. Every doctor visit, she’ll have to correct 3-5 people. That’s a lot to saddle a kid with in America.”

“Aylee is also a name, and much easier to pronounce so I’d go with that”, chimed in a third.

A fourth echoed: “I think you’re right in trying to choose a spelling that is easier for Americans to pronounce (sad that it comes to that but it’s worth it to prevent your child from having to explain it repeatedly). I think that Aylee is a very pretty name.”

“When I look at that name [Eilidh] and want to pronounce it it makes me think of eyelid”, joked a fifth.

Meanwhile, a sixth added: “Do you live in Scotland? If not then my god, sorry but thats an awful, awful name.”

Others, however, have urged the mum-to-be to stick to the Scottish spelling so it’s not “butchered”.

One person fumed: “This is just me, I can’t speak for other Scots, but honestly I think it’s a little…insulting?

“To take a cultural name and change the spelling of it to fit where you live. I know that’s how new names are created but idk, there’s just something about it that doesn’t sit right with me.”

A second sighed: “Why is it such a big problem that people wouldn’t be able to pronounce it?

“In Scotland I’ve met plenty of people from other countries with names that I wouldn’t know how to pronounce, but asking only takes a second.”

A third agreed: “Don’t take a name from another culture and butcher it. Especially if you’re ever going to visit Scotland. It’s insulting and smacks of anglo-elitism.”

“I’m not a fan of how Aylee looks. It kind of ruins the name for me. It looks like you’re trying too hard”, said a fourth.

Somebody else confessed: “Aylee would work but I don’t personally love the spelling… very ‘millennial made up name’ to me.”

And a sixth wrote: “As a Scottish person I love the name Eilidh but I absolutely hate the spelling you’ve suggested.”

Taking all of the comments on board, the expectant mum later revealed: “I’m leaning towards maybe using it as a middle name.”

It’s not the first time Scotland has helped to influence a new mum’s baby name choices.

One woman revealed she turns to the map of the country for inspiration for her kids’ monikers.

But another mum-to-be was forced to scrap her baby name choices after moving north of the border.

She told social media users she was disappointed after realising that people pronouncing the monikers in a Scottish accent would completely ‘change’ the names.

New boss Ruben Amorim has failed to get his side firing since taking over at Old Trafford in November.

The 40-year-old has become increasingly frustrated with the disjointed squad at his disposal.

He ideally wants to play his favoured 3-4-3 system, which was hugely successful at Sporting Lisbon.

But Amorim demonstrated the weaknesses of the squad in the 2-0 loss to Crystal Palace, starting Kobbie Mainoo as a false nine.

That decision was a huge snub to strikers Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, both of whom were brought to the North West for big fees.

Reports last month suggested almost the ENTIRE Man Utd squad could be up for sale this summer.

Alejandro Garnacho, valued at around £70m by United, almost left for Napoli in January.

United will be forced to sell stars in the summer if they are to rebuild and stay within PSR rules.

They could only muster two player signings in January – Patrick Dorgu for £25m from Lecce and youngster Ayden Heaven from Arsenal.

Garnacho is among those likely to be targeted by Europe’s elite later this year, while reports suggest Mainoo is also on the transfer list.

Mainoo and Garnaco “were for sale in the winter market and will be again in the summer,” according to The Guardian.

The report adds that “selling one or both would mean having to find a replacement.”

Sales of academy graduates like Mainoo, Garnacho and Marcus Rashford would also be counted as 100 per cent profit.

Those deals could be vital to United staying in Profit and Sustainability Rules compliance after years of heavy spending.

Rashford has already departed Old Trafford on loan to Aston Villa after a month of speculation.

The England striker’s deal is thought to include a buy option for £40million.

He also has three years remaining on his £325,000-a-week contract, which proved a stumbling block in negotiations throughout January.

SunSport exclusively revealed Rashford has been told he will never play for United again while Amorim is in charge.

The forward admitted in December he is “ready for a new challenge”.

And the Portuguese tactician suggested he is so unhappy with the way Rashford trains he’d rather pick 63-year-old goalkeeping coach Jorge Vital than him.

A source told SunSport: “Marcus always said he would never play for another club in England because he is a United fan.

“He started to think he needed to move earlier this season and wanted to go to a big European club.

“The reality is he’s not had the interest he expected. Villa first showed a tentative interest in him last November.

“Amorim has made it very clear he has no future at Old Trafford.”

Kids act as members of train station staff or ticket collectors[/caption]

The 1940s scheme was introduced to give kids the chance to learn important skills and to take pride in their work.

Its three passenger lines were an instant hit until foreign holidays lured visitors away from the brightly coloured steam locomotive.

Thankfully, the Gyermekvasút Rail Line (Children’s Railway) increased in popularity in the 1990s after communist rule came to an end in the country.

As part of its revival, the lines and cars were refurbished.

Nowadays, the Gyermekvasút is the world’s largest children’s railway.

Running from Széchenyihegy Station to Hűvösvölgy Station, the train stops at six stations on its route, including Normafa, Csillebérc, Virágvölgy, Jánoshegy, Szépjuhászné and Hárshegy.

While qualified adult drivers man the train, the kids act as ticket collectors or station staff.

Passengers can disembark the white, red and blue trains at each stop, with lookout towers and forest playgrounds en route.

Tickets are free for children aged six and under, with one-way fares from £1 for children under the age of 18.

Meanwhile, tickets for full-paying adults start from £2 per person.

Passengers can also rent out saloon coaches for those who want to travel in extra comfort.

Seasonal events run throughout the year, including Christmas-themed trains as well as performances on Children’s Railway Day.

There’s also an onsite museum where visitors can learn about the history of the miniature railway.

The little train runs throughout the year with the exception of Mondays and public holidays.

One-way journeys on the steam locomotive take between 40-50 minutes.

“The children’s side is limited to the ticket collectors and station staff but still charming to watch and hear.”
