WYNNE Evans has broken his silence after he was axed from the Strictly live tour.

The Go Compare opera singer, 53, is facing backlash after a crude sexual comment about Janette Manrara during the tour.

Wynne said this evening: “I’ve agreed with the BBC that l’ll take some time out from my radio show and the Strictly Live tour, as well as my other public commitments, to prioritise my wellbeing.

“I am deeply sorry for the pain my inappropriate actions have caused, and plan to take this time for self-reflection.

“Apologies to those I won’t get to see at the remaining performances and I’m grateful to my fellow tour gang for all the amazing support they have given me.”

According to insiders, the incident followed “repeated warnings about his behaviour” leading show bosses to remove him from the tour.

Taking to X, his brother Mark, a baritone performer and children’s author, also praised his brother’s character while addressing the controversy.

He said: “As a brother, I want to express my unwavering support for him during this challenging time.”

He continued: “Wynne has a heart of gold and the courage of a lion, paired with a talent that outshines most.

“His charisma and humour have brought joy to countless people.”

Mark’s statement comes during a difficult period for the family, who suffered a devastating loss earlier this year when Wynne and Mark’s eldest brother, Huw, passed away.

At the time, Wynne shared his heartbreak in an emotional tribute.

He said: “I’m so sad to say that my gorgeous eldest brother has passed away. My big brother was my hero and my inspiration. Huw, my darling, I will miss you so much and am so glad I got to have you with me all my life.”

Embattled Wynne has yet to publicly address being dropped from the tour but has apologised for the incident.

Wynne previously apologised after he was heard using the term “spit roast” to co-star Jamie Borthwick while standing beside Janette.

A spokesman for Janette claimed she hadn’t heard the comment.

The BBC has since confirmed that Wynne will be taking time away from his regional radio show while the fallout continues.

CYCLING star Remco Evenepoel’s 2025 season has got off to the worst possible start after his POSTMAN allegedly stole his credit card.

Evenepoel, 25, won gold in both the Men’s Time Trial and the Men’s Road Race at the Paris 2024 Olympics, but has had nothing but hassle ever since.

In early December he was severely injured after a postman opened his vehicle door on the Belgian star during a training ride.

He suffered a number of fractures, a dislocated collarbone and bruised lungs, with the injuries set to keep him out until at least April.

To make matters worse, he’s now had further issues with another postman.

According to report in Belgian newspaper De Telegraaf, Evenepoel recently had his credit card stolen by a local postie.

The report claims several people, including Evenepoel, had credit cards and details stolen in the Belgian city of Anderlecht.

Evenepoel is believed to have had €9000 (£7,550) withdrawn from a company account, of which the cyclist was a shareholder.

The postman allegedly stole a total of €20,000 (£16,779) to fund his gambling addiction, and later disposed of the credit cards.

He is due in court at the end of February, with a prison term among the possible sentences.

Evenepoel, meanwhile, confirmed his plans for the upcoming season earlier this month – under the assumption his rehab schedule goes to plan.

He hopes to make is comeback at the Brabantse Pijl, one of the ‘Spring Classics’ that signal the end of the off-season and a return to brutal one-day racing here in Europe.

From there, he is targeting the Criterium du Dauphine – one of the most prestigious Tour de France warm-up races – before doing Le Tour itself.

In a press release from his Soudal Quick-Step team, Evenepoel said: “I want to be at 200% for the Tour de France, and if things go as planned and I continue to improve, I am confident I can start there in a strong form and fight for a good result.”

THE investigation into the murder of schoolboy Kyran Durnin is “still some way off” from conclusion, Garda Commissioner Drew Harris has revealed.

Kyran Durnin, who would be eight years old if he was still alive, was last seen in public in June 2022.

A missing person’s probe was initially launched in August last year before being upgraded to a murder investigation.

Gardai believe the youngster from Dundalk, Co Louth may have been killed up to two years ago with his body hidden.

Gardai carried out searches at three residences in the Dundalk area last year including at the former home of the boy’s family.

A number of people have been arrested as part of the murder probe.

In December, a woman who was known to Kyran was questioned as part of the investigation before being released without charge.

Anthony Maguire, who was a suspect in the case and had been questioned by gardai, took his own life at his home in Drogheda last year.

Maguire’s phone and notes found at the house have been examined by gardai.

Cops suspected Maguire was part of a plan to try and con social workers by bringing a “decoy” child in Kyran’s place to a meeting.

The investigation into Kyran’s disappearance is ongoing but there have been no updates in recent weeks.

Garda Commissioner Drew Harris told the Irish Sun: “The investigation carries on and I am being kept abreast of developments. The investigation carries on.

‘STILL SOME WAY OFF’

“Obviously then we will get to a point of conclusion and it will go then to the DPP but that is still some way off.”

Gardai fear Kyran has been dead for two years and suspect he may have died in 2022 when he was just six.

Last year, An Garda Siochana published the new pictures of Kyran as they called on anyone who may have information relating to his disappearance to get in touch with them.

Detectives now believe that the boy, from Drogheda, Co Louth, was killed in June 2022, a month later than they previously thought. He has not been seen in public since then.

It is understood that two women who were told the child was missing before the Gardai knew about it have contacted officers and made detailed statements.

They are among a long list of crucial witnesses who are now coming forward to help cops with their inquiries.

Detectives are also looking at footage obtained from local shops and street cameras near the homes of the suspects and the routes they would take to and from Drogheda town centre.

Gardai are trying to narrow down a list of sites where they think Kyran could be buried.

The insider said last month: “There will be more arrests and more digs in the coming weeks. We are not going to rest until we find Kyran’s body.

“The people of Drogheda are very angry about this case and want to see those responsible arrested and punished.

“We are all determined that this little lad will get a proper Christian burial.”
