She delivered emotional scenes just weeks after giving birth as Lacey’s co-star James Bye bowed out of the role of Martin Fowler.

Following her high praise, Lacey has now broken her silence on last week’s emotional episodes.

Taking to Instagram, she said: “Wow, what a week it’s been – Thank you so much for all the love for the live.

“The reaction has been overwhelming to say the least I’m still trying to find the words to thank all the people that made that happen!

“And like the rest of the nation I’m heartbroken.”

Lacey penned the tribute to James, 41, while promoting the next episode of her podcast ‘We Started Here’.

Fans flooded her with supportive messages, with one writing: “You are a truly amazing actress, Lacey. You show such raw & real emotion; you deserve every award going. You & James totally rocked the live show.”

A second said: “Honestly. I have cried so much. Your acting was amazing.”

“You were brilliant Lacey, you left us all in tears.Hoping you will do a podcast with James,” a third fan replied.

While a fourth commented: “You are just a complete force.”

Last week Lacey’s husband Matt Kay posted a gushing tribute to her following EastEnders’ live episode.

He said: “I am absolutely bursting with pride for my wife and the incredible job she did at work this evening.

“Her dedication and hard work shone through as she tackled an extremely tough challenge with grace and determination, especially considering she gave birth just five weeks ago.”

He called her camaraderie with co-stars and commitment to achieving her goals “inspiring”.

Starmer’s ‘flawed’ Ukraine peace plan dealt ANOTHER blow on eve of Trump visit as Kremlin shoots down peacekeeper vow

KEIR Starmer‘s peace plan to deploy European troops in Ukraine has faced another blow as Moscow has shot it down.

Despite Trump’s reassurance that Putin “has no problem” with European peacekeepers, the Kremlin repeated today that such a move would be unacceptable.

The PM – who is due to visit Don in Washington this week- has called for a peace plan that could see thousands of troops on the ground in Ukraine.

And he announced today a whopping £13 billion increase in defence after he pledged to raise military spending to 2.5 per cent of GDP.

Speaking in the House of Commons, the PM said today: “Instability in Europe will always wash up on our shores… tyrants like Putin only respond to strength.

Russia is a menace in our waters, in our airspace and on our streets – they’ve launched cyber attacks on our NHS [and] only seven years ago, a chemical weapons attack on the streets of Salisbury.

He says the UK “must” stand by Ukraine.

“If we do not achieve a lasting peace, then the economic instability, a threat to our security, will only grow.”

Following a meeting with Macron at The White House, the US President said he believes Russia is going “all-out” to make sure the war ends Putin “has no problem” with European peacekeepers.

He said he accepted the idea of European peacekeepers in Ukraine if a settlement was reached to end the war.

He said: “Yeah, he will accept that. I specifically asked him that question. He has no problem with it.”

But Moscow has repeatedly opposed having NATO troops in Ukraine – and Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov repeated Russia‘s views today.

He said: “There is a position on this matter that was expressed by the Russian Foreign Minister, Lavrov.

“I have nothing to add to this and nothing to comment on. I leave this without comment.”

Peskov refers to Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov’s statement last week that such a move would be seen as a “direct threat” to Russia.

Peskov added: “We observe that the US is adopting a much more balanced position, which significantly aids efforts to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.

“We certainly welcome this development. We believe that such a balanced approach indicates a sincere commitment to contributing to a settlement.

“The statements made from Brussels, including from Kyiv yesterday evening, do not yet signal a balance, but perhaps, based on the results of contacts between Europeans and Americans, Europe will gravitate towards greater balance.”

Starmer is due to fly to Washington this week to present his plan that sees peacekeeping troops in Ukraine as part of any peace deal brokered by the US President.

His visit comes amid mounting fears that he is facing a mission impossible at the White House.

Other European leaders have expressed their scepticism during talks in Paris last week.

Germany‘s chancellor Olaf Scholz branded the plan “completely premature”, “highly inappropriate”, and that he was “a little irritated”.

He then stormed out of the meeting adding that the sheer thought of making decisions seemingly on behalf of Ukraine was “irritating”.

France and Sweden spoke out in favour of the plan but didn’t go as far as Starmer who said he is willing to deploy British troops.

ANALYSIS

By Jack Elsom, Chief Political Correspondent

AS is so often the case for prime ministers, Sir Keir Starmer is being buffeted by global events outside his control.

Today’s uplift in defence spending has been brought about just as much by the man in the White House as it has the man in No10.

Donald Trump’s demands for European leaders to hike their military budgets and cease free-riding off America has jolted allies into action.

Yes, Sir Keir has long promised to raise defence spending to 2.5 per cent of GDP – but the new US administration has created a fresh sense of urgency.

Now he has something to sell to the notoriously transactional Trump when he heads to Washington this week.

The Sun has long demanded more money for our armed forces, joining calls from top brass, MPs, and NATO leaders to safeguard our defence and security.

And many will delighted that Labour is taking an axe to our foreign aid spending to pay for the armed forces cash boost.

The Sun recently revealed the millions being frittered on ludicrious overseas projects, like studying shrimp health in Bangladesh or gifting electric cars to Albanian jails.

It is also a shrewd political move from the PM – poll after poll shows voters favour slashing foreign aid spending.

Some will say it is “too little too late”, but now Sir Keir has some real ammunition to answer his critics.

I’m a mum living off benefits but spend my days choosing between heating & eating – I’m embarrassed & costs make me cry

A SINGLE mum-of-two already chooses between “heating and eating” – and cried when she heard news the average energy bill will rise by £111 a year.

Ofgem announced today (February 25) its new price cap of 6.4% – the equivalent of an extra £111 a year for the average household.

She says the new cap is a matter of ‘life and death’ – and is forgoing feeding herself in order to keep her children comfortable and safe[/caption]

Raegan Furness, 36, is a full-time carer to daughters Amelia-Star, 12, who has ADHD, and Kacie-Rae, eight, who has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair.

The single mum claims universal credit as well as disability living allowance (DLA) for both children.

But says this doesn’t cover food, bills or travel – and choosing between a warm house and being able to eat is already her “daily reality” – and will now get worse.

Raegan already owes £3,500 to debt collectors, and worries the increase in energy bills will only worsen her situation.

Raegan, who cares for her children full-time, from Macclesfield, Cheshire, said: “I’m having to choose between heating and eating – the government needs to know it’s literally life-or-death.

“I’m a single parent – I don’t know how I’m going to keep getting through this.

“I’ve already had debt collectors for my gas and electric come to my door; I’m already sitting in the cold in order to keep costs down.”

Currently, Raegan has to rely on drinking cups of tea to get her through the day – as she can’t afford to feed herself as well as her children.

The family rely on food banks to stock up their fridge, but the single mum still struggles to pay her energy bills on time.

She owes £3,500 to her energy provider already.

“The most vulnerable people in society are struggling with this,” she added.

“I can’t just go to work and pay my bills off – I have a disabled child.

“I s**t myself every time I see a bills increase in the news – I worry for my children.

“I’m too embarrassed to ask anyone for help – my parents sometimes lend me money, but they’re elderly and struggling with their own energy bills.”

4 ways to keep your energy bills low

Laura Court-Jones, Small Business Editor at Bionic shared her tips.

1. Turn your heating down by one degree

You probably won’t even notice this tiny temperature difference, but what you will notice is a saving on your energy bills as a result. Just taking your thermostat down a notch is a quick way to start saving fast. This one small action only takes seconds to carry out and could potentially slash your heating bills by £171.70.

2. Switch appliances and lights off

It sounds simple, but fully turning off appliances and lights that are not in use can reduce your energy bills, especially in winter. Turning off lights and appliances when they are not in use, can save you up to £20 a year on your energy bills

3. Install a smart meter

Smart meters are a great way to keep control over your energy use, largely because they allow you to see where and when your gas and electricity is being used.

4. Consider switching energy supplier

No matter how happy you are with your current energy supplier, they may not be providing you with the best deals, especially if you’ve let a fixed-rate contract expire without arranging a new one. If you haven’t browsed any alternative tariffs lately, then you may not be aware that there are better options out there.

Raegan needs her gas and electric to keep Kacie-Rae’s equipment working – like her suction machine, which stops her from choking.

She says the new cap is a matter of “life and death” – and is forgoing feeding herself in order to keep her children comfortable and safe.

“I need to be able to charge my daughter’s suction tube,” she said.

“My daughters get as much food as they can have – but I’m getting by on cups of tea.

“I worry I’m going to get into trouble because my kids aren’t warm all the time.”

Fresh jail threat for Liam Payne’s pal Roger Nores as prosecutors may APPEAL decision to drop charges against him

LIAM Payne’s close friend Roger Nores faces a huge blow as prosecutors are considering appealing the decision that saw him walk free.

Nores and two hotel workers breathed a sigh of relief after the manslaughter charges against them were dropped last week.

Liam’s close friend Roger Nores (L) plans to travel to the UK to pay his respects to his pal

But now Argentinian prosecutors have confirmed they are considering appealing the decision.

They said they were “evaluating appeals” after it emerged last week the businessman and two hotel workers were in the clear.

A spokesman for Argentinian public prosecutors said: “The Public Prosecutor’s Office and the plaintiffs will now evaluate the appeals that correspond to the part of the ruling that was not in accordance with the corresponding charges.”

Liam’s good pal and two staff members at the hotel in Buenos Aires were charged over the One Direction star’s death from a hotel balcony on October 16 last year.

But Nores alongside Esteban Grassi, the chief receptionist at CasaSur Palermo Hotel and head of security Gilda Martin were cleared by appeal court judges.

Meanwhile, the pair accused of selling Liam cocaine before his fall from the CasaSur Palermo Hotel will remain in prison after being told they still face prosecution and probable trial.

Waiter Braian Nahuel Paiz, 24, and 21-year-old suspended hotel worker Ezequiel David Pereyra, lost their attempts to overturn the decision to charge them with supplying Liam drugs and remand them in prison.

Prosecutors also revealed more evidence against Paiz, who has admitted to taking drugs with Liam but denied he sold him any narcotics

They said: “A police report on the accused’s residence, a block of flats at 400 Aguero Street in the Buenos Aires neighbourhood of Balvanera, concludes that ‘all the inhabitants/families there earn their livings mainly from selling drugs.”

Rogelio “Roger” Nores revealed last week he is planning to fly to the UK to pay his respects to his friend.

Speaking after the ruling Nores told: Rolling Stone: “Glad this is finally over.

“I’m happy I’m now going to be able to travel to the UK and say goodbye to my friend.”

The judges ruled that Nores did not play a role in Payne “obtaining and consuming alcohol,” nor could have done anything to prevent his death.

They also referred to an email Nores had sent to Liam’s family dated August 23, expressing his concern about his friend.

The ruling reads: “Despite accusing Nores of failing to communicate and raise alarms with the victim’s family, they remained silent about the email through which the accused had expressed his concerns and warned that he would not be able to look after Payne’s health.”

Nores is also still vowing to continue his £8.1 million defamation lawsuit against Liam’s grieving dad Geoff.

He first filed the claim in the US in January suing Geoff for defamation – claiming he made “false” statements to investigators following Liam’s death.

Geoff is said to have told authorities that Roger was part of a “care group” for Liam – who “could not be left alone in the vulnerable position in which he was”.

Roger told The Sun he will “100 per cent” not drop the case until he gets an apology – adding: “I’m sure I’ll get one.”

Tragic star Liam plunged to his death from the third-floor balcony of his hotel in Buenos Aires on October 16.

His chaotic finals hours before he fell have now been revealed in new court documents.

A forensic examination of Liam’s final hours found he hired two women online, Aldana Serrano, 31, and Lucila Goitea, 27, and invited them to his room.

The women arrived at 11.30am on October 16 to find Liam taking drugs from aluminium foil, docs claimed.

The three of them later had sex, it is understood, before Liam broke the hotel room TV and told the women to leave at around 4pm.

I visited Bridget Jones’ flat from the first film and it’s completely unrecognisable

THE ‘Bridget Jones-effect’ has swept across London, seeing a surge in visitors to iconic locations, and we fell for it too.

With the conclusion of a 25-year journey with Bridget Jones with Mad About The Boy, we thought it was only right to visit some of our favourite heroine’s London stomping grounds.

Film still of Renée Zellweger in "Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason."
Our 25-year journey with Bridget Jones came to and end so we visited some of her favourite places

The Globe Tavern

Possibly the most iconic location of all in the Bridget Jones franchise is The Globe Tavern.

Perched on the corner of Bedale Street and the edge of Borough market is this traditional London pub.

The pub and the floors above were used as the exterior of Bridget Jones’ first floor flat in films one, two and three.

Even the street outside saw been a number of memorable scenes – including make ups and break ups for singleton, Bridget.

So we had to pop into the pub that’s hidden under the arch of London Bridge and we were surprised to find that inside The Globe Tavern is surprisingly snug with just a few tables.

But it was the perfect place for a drink – and although Bridget (played by Renée Zellweger) never stepped foot inside on the big screen, we’re sure she must have stopped in at some point.

The tiny restaurant has been a number of eateries in recent years, replacing the previous Japanese sando bar TOU[/caption]

8 Bedale Street

Bridget’s flat at 8 Bedale Street is on the first floor above the Globe Tavern, and in the scenes from the first film it looks like a cosy attic-style Victorian apartment.

But step inside nowadays and you’ll actually find the Khao Bird Thai restaurant, so our Deputy Travel Editor, Kara Godfrey popped in for a bite to eat.

She said: “If you head upstairs above the Globe Tavern, you’ll find Khao Bird – a new Thai restaurant in Bridget’s ‘flat’.

“The tiny restaurant has been a number of eateries in recent years, replacing the previous Japanese sando bar TOU.

“Sadly, don’t expect the interiors to remind you of the iconic flat – Bridget may step inside from Borough Market, but that’s where the resemblance ends.

“The real flat interior was created and filmed at Sky Studios Elstree.

“But that doesn’t mean the restaurant isn’t worth a trip, with a small menu of punchy northern Thai dishes including veggie curries and rich noodles.

“They have paid homage to the film though, with a ‘Blue Soup cocktail’, that resembles her failed dinner party attempt.

“Thankfully this one is much tastier, created with vodka and butterfly pea flower.”

Bedales of Borough

Across the road from The Globe Tavern is Bedales of Borough, this location isn’t overly familiar, at least it wasn’t to us at first, that was until we did some digging.

The Bedales of Borough is actually the location of Mark Darcy (Colin Firth) and Daniel Cleaver’s (Hugh Grant) very first fight over Bridget.

Fans of the film will remember the pair brawling in the street in the snow before taking the fight inside the Greek restaurant opposite.

Well, that Greek restaurant was actually Bedales, just with a transformed shop front.

Bedales is a very busy and popular wine bar in Borough Market

We’d recommend a visit to anyone heading into Borough Market though as they have almost 50 wines to taste, some of which are non-alcoholic.

They also offer cocktails as well as snacks, and main meals with a two course meal costing £25 – and that include a glass of wine.

And Bedales of Borough also offer wine tastings starting from £60 per person.

Here are three other Bridget Jones locations you can visit

Here are some more classic Bridget Jones movie locations you can visit in the UK...

Outside of London, and used in the very first film, was the Stoke Park Hotel, where Bridget and Daniel took a romantic mini break and awkwardly run into Mark. The grand country club and spa is found in Buckinghamshire and you don’t even have to book a room to enjoy the facilities.

For anyone wanting to hang out with Bridget’s friends, Shazza, Tom and Jude, then head to The Light Bar in Shoreditch – although they’re unlikely to be there. The local hang out for the group is on Shoreditch High Street and the renovated drinks hotspot set in an old Victorian power station.

The cast and crew were spotted filming in locations across the country including Hampstead Heath. The huge park that offers views over the city of London is where Bridget will meet her new potential love interest, Roxster (Leo Woodall). Hampstead Heath is perfect for any fan of walking, there are also 30 ponds including three for swimming, a lido and a paddling pool.
