The battle between the Big Three of the anime world is something that every anime and manga fan enjoys. From characters to storylines, fans like to compare everything to figure out which is the better series out of the two. One such battle that has been going on for a long time is to figure out the better power structure between One Piece and Bleach.

Tite Kubo’s Bleach and Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece are two of the biggest names in the anime and manga industry right now. While Bleach is trending for its Thousand-Year Blood War arc, One Piece is earning fame and recognition because of its Elbaph arc. Thus, the competition between the two out of the Big Three has begun once again.
One aspect of the competition is the power structure of the two series which is one of the most important elements in any story. While they are completely different, it is safe to assume that Bleach has One Piece beat because of the way Haki disrupted the impact of Devil Fruits in the story.
The eccentric power system in Tite Kubo’s Bleach
Tite Kubo’s Bleach is known for a lot of things but the one thing that makes the story eccentric is the power system. As Bleach involves Shinigami and Soul Society, the power is also based on the spiritual energy of the soul and the willpower connected to it. It is the determining factor in Bleach and more spiritual energy automatically makes a character more powerful.
In the Bleach storyline, this power is called Reiryoku, and it is divided into many different levels depending on the amount of Reiryoku a character has. In fact, it sits at the center of the entire Bleach narrative, and every race, be it Arrancar or Quincy, uses Reiryoku as the natural phenomenon base for their powers and abilities.

The Reiryoku is converted into Reiatsu (spiritual pressure) which acts as a power release and varies depending on the type of character using it in Bleach. It is truly one of the most unique power structures and has inspired many other anime and manga series, the biggest example being Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen.
Bleach’s power structure surpasses One Piece’s power structure
In One Piece’s case, the power structure is dependent on two main sources: Haki and Devil Fruits. While Haki is the more prominent and stronger one, Devil Fruits were introduced first and for many One Piece fans, they still might be better than Haki. However, it is already established within the narrative that Haki conquers all and will be necessary in the final war.
But by introducing Haki, Eiichiro Oda had made the One Piece storyline confusing. As Haki became prominent in One Piece, a lot of plot holes were created especially for the pre-time skip narrative.

From Shanks sacrificing his arm to Crocodile losing to Luffy without using Haki, all of the epic moments in One Piece lost their significance.
Thus, it is safe to assume that when compared Bleach’s power structure looks better than One Piece’s power structure. But there are still some big mysteries in One Piece and maybe Oda will solve all the plot holes and clear the confusion between Haki and Devil Fruits within the story.
One Piece is available to watch on Crunchyroll and Bleach is available to watch on Hulu.
