Actor Tom Holland is best known for his performance as Peter Parker / Spider-Man in the MCU. While the role gained Holland unprecedented fame and turned him into a household name, the actor has also appeared in several different films, expanding his acting scope. However, one role proved too physically challenging for the actor.

During an interview, Holland discussed the challenges of maintaining his physique and staying healthy, especially since different roles have different demands. In the process, the actor admitted that the hardest diet he had to follow wasn’t for the role of Spider-Man. Instead, a thriller movie’s brutal prep pushed Holland to the limit, and here is what he had to say.
Spider-Man star Tom Holland revealed gruelling diet plan for Cherry role
Tom Holland rose to prominence when he was cast in the role of Peter Parker / Spider-Man, who first appeared in Captain America: Civil War. Holland later reprised the role in several MCU movies and is expected to do the same for the upcoming Spider-Man 4.

During an interview with Men’s Health, Holland discussed the challenges of dieting and maintaining the right physique according to the roles he plays. The actor revealed that he primarily focused on eating a healthy, balanced diet but had to drop weight dramatically for the 2021 thriller Cherry.
I was trying to keep below 500 calories a day. I was working out like a crazy person. I was dropping weight really, really quickly.
Holland made the above comment, admitting that it was extremely brutal to maintain a diet of less than 500 calories to lose weight for the role of a recovering addict struggling with PTSD.
The actor revealed he underwent a similar transformation for his performance in the thriller series The Crowded Room. However, the experience left Holland jaded, and the actor admitted that he had vowed never to undergo such a dramatic weight loss in the future.
Tom Holland explained how he trained for his Spider-Man and Uncharted roles
Aside from struggling to lose weight, Holland admitted that throughout his career he has also had trouble putting on weight, especially becoming buff, a problem he faced particularly while working with Mark Wahlberg on the action-adventure film Uncharted.

Holland revealed that he realized he looked very small next to Wahlberg. As a result, when production was delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic, he decided to add on muscle, admitting that it was extremely difficult for him to do so.
We just really, really got into CrossFit. I’d never done it before, and I just really loved the kind of competitive edge of it.
Holland made the above statement, recalling doing a lot of crossfit ahead of reprising his role as Peter Parker in the third installment of his Spider-Man franchise.
Ultimately, Holland has shown great dedication to his role, willing to undergo drastic transformations for the same. However, the actor also admitted that he would not recommend dramatically cutting down calorie intake like he did for some of his roles and encouraged a more healthy weight loss regime.
