‘Recluse’ Sweden shooter dressed in military gear in toilet before killing 10…but made mysterious choice during rampage

The “recluse” suspected to be behind Sweden’s worst mass shooting in history reportedly changed into military gear in the school’s toilet before killing ten people.

Rickard Andersson, 35, has been accused of carrying out a horrifying rampage at the Campus Risbergska in Orebro – but the gunman made a mysterious choice during his killing spree on Tuesday.

Police believe the suspected killer turned the weapon on himself but his motive was not immediately known.

Chilling new details have revealed the gunman reportedly changed into green military clothes in the school’s toilet before unleashing his killing spree.

A current police theory is that the suspect calmly walked through the school’s corridors taking his shots at people.

The gunman however is said to have made a mysterious decision to walk past certain people while choosing to not to shoot them, according to Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet.

Cops did not immediately reveal the suspect’s identity but his family painted an image of him as a loser recluse to local media.

One family member said he was unemployed and had isolated himself from his friends and loved ones.

The suspect – who is also said to have “extreme social phobia” – would always keep his hood up, cover his hands and mouth, and was dubbed a loser in school.

Andersson legally changed his name from Jonas Simon in 2017 – to the shock of his family.

He reportedly grew up in Orebro with his parents and siblings in an affluent part of the city – before moving to nearby Storgatan after he finished school.

One relative said: “We haven’t had much contact with him in recent years.

“As a child he was different but lively. He did well in school.

“But in recent years he has had a hard time. He is not working.”

Another family member shared how the suspected gunman had completely changed in recent years.

They said: “He’s really a loner. He used to have a friend he hung out with a lot, but not now. He wants to be by himself.

“He doesn’t seem to like people.”

The suspect didn’t spend time with his family at Christmas as “he wasn’t feeling well mentally”.

He was also repeatedly denied military service, documents from the Swedish National Service Agency show.

The Swedish National Service said the reason he was never called up for muster was due to him lacking upper secondary school qualifications, newspaper Aftonbladet was told.

Everything we know about the Swedish mass shooting

SWEDEN experienced its worst shooting in history when a gunman opened fire at an adult education centre on Tuesday.

The alarm was sounded around 12.30pm at the Campus Risbergska School in Orebro, around 200km west of Stockholm.

At least 11 people are believed to have been killed and police believe one of these in the gunman.

The shooter reportedly turned the gun on himself after his horror rampage.

Police identified their suspect as 35-year-old Rickard Andersson.

Cops added that they believe he worked alone and have not confirmed his motivations.

Authorities said six people were being treated in hospital – four women and two men.

Five of these people have required surgery and two remain in a serious condition.

Cops also said the death toll and number of injured could rise as they carry on with their investigation.

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said Tuesday’s attack was the worst in the country’s history and called it a “painful day”.

During the massacre, the suspect was believed to have been carrying three rifles – including a standard hunting rifle with 30-06 caliber ammunition.

Some reported have claimed a shotgun was also used during the shooting spree.

Authorities said six people were rushed to hospital and two of them remain in an intensive care unit.

The identities of the killers victims have not been revealed.

Although cops revealed they believe the suspect acted alone they have not ruled out the possibility of other suspects being involved.

Police added that he had previously not been known to them and he had a gun licence.

Coronation Street villain reveals he’s QUIT soap and his dramatic final scenes have already aired

ONE of Coronation Street’s nastiest villains has confirmed he has QUIT the soap amid the ongoing cast exodus.

Harry Lowbridge, who has been appearing as Logan Radcliffe on the ITV soap opera, confirmed that his final scenes on the show had aired after his character attacked David Platt following the Platt house inferno.

Logan first appeared on the show last year and was introduced as one of the brothers of another recently axed character, Mason Radcliffe, played by Luca Toolan.

However, taking to Instagram today, Harry confirmed that he would no longer be appearing on the show for the time being amid a difficult period behind-the-scenes at the soap.

Harry wrote online alongside a snapshot of him in character as Logan: “That’s farewell to Logan… for now.”

Viewers of the soap were quick to send their congratulations to the budding soap star for his debut performance on the cobbles.

One viewer said: “You’re brilliant!! Such a good baddie.”

Another added: “All the best, you were great, hope you come back.”

Before a third posted: “The future is bright for you Harry x.”

Harry’s exit from the show comes after he previously opened up on his daily mental health battle that he faces.

He revealed online he has had his own private mental health battle whilst recording the show’s harrowing knife crime storyline which saw him knife his brother to death.

One fan asked Harry if it was “ok to not be ok”, on the platform.

In response, Harry opened up to confess: “Yes, I struggle on the daily with my mental health.”

He then issued an urgent plea to his followers to be open about their own mental health problems as he shared the importance of talking to someone about struggles.

Harry said: “Reach out to someone, whether it be family, friends or professionals.

“There’s always someone who will listen.”

Harry is the latest star to either be axed or walk away from the programme.

Sue Devaney was controversially axed from her role of Debbie Webster with Colson Smith also being given the boot as Craig Tinker.

Others to have been written out include Charlotte Jordan as Daisy Midgeley, Shelley King as Yasmeen Metcalfe, Sue Cleaver as Eileen Grimshow, Luca Toolan as Mason Radcliffe and Paddy Bever as Max Turner.

Helen Worth also quit the soap last year as Gail Platt after 50 years in the role.

It comes amid news that Corrie has had an episode AXED as a result of the cash crisis with a new soap schedule coming into play from January 2026.

Corrie cash crisis: shock exits for 2025

ITV bosses are locked in a battle to save the cash-strapped soap.

This means that a number of stars have either been axed from or have abandoned the long-running serial drama.

Colson Smith – Craig Tinker

The character of Craig Tinker has been axed by bosses after 14 years. After he was told of the news in Autumn 2024, Colson Smith confirmed that would be written out of the show with scenes to air later this year. Craig’s on-screen mum, Beth Tinker, also left the show in the summer when actress Lisa George was written out from the role.

Sue Cleaver – Eileen Grimshaw

After 25 years playing Eileen Grimshaw, former I’m A Celebrity campmate Sue Cleaver will quit the show. The Sun on Sunday reported in January that she’s already begun to film her exit scenes. However the character will not be killed off in case Sue opts to make a return in the future.

Luca Toolan – Mason Radcliffe

Bosses decided to axe the teenage character after just 16 months after he first joined the show. Recent scenes saw Mason stabbed by his criminal brothers after his pal Dylan brought a knife in an attempt to defend him.

Sue Devaney – Debbie Webster

In November 2024, we revealed that Debbie Webster is set to be killed off after 40 years on the cobbles. The character will die as part of a heartbreaking long-running dementia storyline.

Charlotte Jordan – Daisy Midgeley

The actress became the fifth star to leave Coronation Street in just one month. We revealed that she will bow out of the ITV soap later this year after four years on-screen. Charlotte told sources that she’s hungry to see what other opportunities await.

Shelley King – Yasmeen Metcalfe

The actress has played Yasmeen Metcalfe on the cobbles for the past 11 years and we revealed in January that she finished filming her final scenes. This follows the departure of her on-screen partner Stu Carpenter.

Irish families holding wakes for dead relatives by candlelight due to Storm Eowyn damage as power outrage hell laid bare

PEOPLE have been forced to hold wakes for dead relatives by candlelight due to the delay in restoring power to homes following Storm Eowyn, the Dail heard today.

Almost 800,000 people lost power and 200,000 households lost access to water following the record-breaking wind storm.

Two weeks on from the storm, more than 18,000 properties remain without electricity with the ESB admitting that some will not get power back until next week.

The Dail today heard from TDs about the devastating impact of the storm as the Government promised to put in place actions to ensure the mass outages won’t happen again.

Labour leader Ivana Bacik told the Dail that she has been contacted by people who were forced to hold wakes for dead relatives by candlelight due to the outages.

She said: “I have heard from families who have been tragically forced to wake their dead relatives by candlelight.

“From parents unable to cook a hot meal for their bored and cold young children, from older people terrified and isolated by power outages and fallen trees, from people with chronic health conditions whose appointments were cancelled or to which they couldn’t access them.

“I heard just today from one family in Roscommon who are still without power and will remain so until this coming weekend.

“They have had no electricity, no heat, no water since January 24 and this has been the case four times in the last ten weeks.”

The Labour leader demanded that the ESB not pass on the costs of the storm repairs to customers after they recorded operating profits of nearly €500 million last year.

The Dublin TD demanded that the Government put real investment into Ireland’s energy, water and transport systems to make it more resilient for future storms.

Taoiseach Micheal Martin praised the response from Ireland’s emergency services and the ESB as he called Storm Eowyn “the worst storm in a century”.

The Fianna Fail leader has ordered officials to accelerate a plan to improve Ireland’s electricity grid as he claimed it requires an investment of €13 billion over the next five years.

Some 3,000 workers have been working “night and day” to restore power to homes including crews flown in from the UK, France, Finland, Germany, Austria, Norway and the Netherlands.

The Dail heard that Ireland borrowed 18 generators from Denmark, Austria, and Poland to switch on water treatment plants and restore services to properties.

However, Taoiseach Martin admitted that Irish Water should have had back up generators ready to go as he warned that this would not be allowed to happen again.

‘NOT GOOD ENOUGH’

He said: “I don’t think it was good enough that Irish Water didn’t have generators in place at multiple locations. That is now happening and that will not happen again.”

New Energy Minister Darragh O’Brien told the Dail that te ESB will try to stock pile spare parts in order to speed up repairs after future storms.

Some 380 emergency hubs were set up in GAA clubs and other local facilities across the country to help communities with 330 of these remaining open this week.
