A DAD-of-five has been remembered as someone with a “heart of gold” after a tragic generator incident over the weekend.
Jason McKay, 30s, has been identified as the man who tragically passed away at his home in Portrush Co Antrim on Sunday, January 26.
It is understood that the man’s death may be connected to fumes from a generator used during Storm Eowyn, with a gas leak being probed as the cause of death.
Emergency services responded to the scene on Sunday morning.
In his death notice from DJM Robinson & Son, Jason is described as the “dearly loved husband of Serena, much loved dad of Faith, Lori, Ava, Lilyahna and David, very dear son of Ian and Joan, stepson of Karen and Stephen, loving brother of Morgan, Lucas, Max, Miley, Ethan, Amber and the late Emma, dear grandson of Nora, Isobel, Ivan and the late William, step grandson of Ronnie and a dear son-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle and nephew.”
Tributes have poured in for the newlywed and dad-of-five who died over the weekend.
TUV vice chairman, Councillor Allister Kyle said: “I’m absolutely devastated to hear the news of the tragic passing of Jason McKay. I knew Jason well.
“A dedicated member of Dunseverick LOL 528, I was pleased to see him elected and installed as their Deputy Master.
“Jason and I were about the same age and went through some of our degrees together in the Orange.
“Jason got married last year and he lived just a few doors up from our family farm in Craigahulliar. A quiet, unassuming fella, Jason was a hard worker who was very family focused.
“Jason was well known in the farming community and when he wasn’t helping his father’s building firm enjoyed working to a local agricultural contractor.
“He will be sorely missed by many not least his parents, wife Serena, their young family and wider family circle.
“My thoughts and prayers are with Jason’s family, colleagues and friends.”
On social media, a spokesperson for Giants Causeway Protestant Boys Flute Band also posted a tribute to Jason.
They said: “Giants Causeway Protestant Boys Flute Band would like to offer our sincere condolences to our former Bandmaster Ian McKay on the sudden passing of his son Jason, also to our flag girl Miley on the passing of her brother and to the wider family circle. Rest Easy Jason.”
Cllr Darryl Wilson added: “A very sad day, passing on our condolences from the Ballymoney community to all impacted by this awful tragedy.”
His funeral will take place on Friday at 2.30pm in Dunseverick Parish Church, with burial afterwards in the churchyard.

My DIY ‘fountain of youth’ solution saved me from Botox at 40 – a £3 buy is magic, it fixed my cracked forehead
A BEAUTY enthusiast who was considering getting Botox has revealed the ultimate hack to avoid needing injections to banish wrinkles.
So if you’re on an anti-ageing mission and are desperate to reduce the appearance of fine lines, then fear not, you’ve come to the right place.
![Woman presenting three bottles of what she calls DIY Botox.](https://www.thesun.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/c67d55ad-19ca-4136-8370-ef40179911e3.jpg?strip=all&w=576)

Stace Fizzy, a content creator from the US, explained that she has discovered a very simple three-ingredient solution that has totally transformed her skin, leaving her wrinkle-free at 40.
The brunette beauty was influenced by Melanie Sandford, a Holistic Nutritionist certified in medicinal plants, who swears by the DIY anti-ageing solution.
Posting on social media, Stace gave a step-by-step tutorial on how to make the natural skincare mixture, which she described as “magic”.
Stace claimed that not only has it “legit got rid of my wrinkles at 40 years of age”, but it’s also “so easy” to make too.
Showing off the DIY solution, which involves filling a glass container half full with castor oil and half full of jojoba oil, as well as 10-15 drops of frankincense, Stace beamed: “Melly Sandford calls this the fountain of youth and she’s the one that saved me from getting Botox a year ago, so I trust her with my life.
“Last year I had a crack between my eyebrows and I’m an all natural girly all the way, but I was about to turn 40 and I was actually considering getting Botox, but then I found Melly, I found castor oil – fast forward and here we are, no Botox needed and that’s something that I’m very happy about.”
She then advised: “In a glass container, mix half castor oil to half jojoba oil and then add 10 to 15 drops of frankincense oil and shake it up.
“If you’ve used castor oil before, you know that the s**t is magic, but this s**t is thick and adding the jojoba oil makes it totally usable as a topical face oil that’s basically the natural girl’s version of Botox, so you’re welcome.
“And thank you so much, Melly Samford, you’re doing God’s work.”
When asked how easy it is to make the DIY product, Stace confirmed: “It’s so easy! You can order it all on Amazon.”
Although you’ll find all of these products on Amazon, you can also nab them on the cheap from Holland & Barrett.
There, you’ll find castor oil for just £3.34, jojoba oil for £8, and pure frankincense essential oil that’s been reduced to £10.72.
This saved me from Botox!! My skin has never been better!!

LONDON -based Gabriela Peacock, who has helped the likes of Prince Harry and Princess Eugenie prepare for their weddings.
She told Fabulous: “The science is evident that we all have the power to make simple life changing alterations to better our future selves – no matter what genetic hand we might have been dealt with.
“The reality is, we all sometimes indulge in unhealthy eating habits like processed foods, smoking cigarettes, drinking too much alcohol, inhaling city pollutants, and even drinking water from plastic bottles – none of this is good for us.
“All this does is promote the ageing process, but we all have the potential to change this.”
It may be hard, but try to keep away from sugary carbohydrates, because they feed chronic inflammation, which is one of the worst enemies of reversing ageing.
Now only will you end up putting on weight if you consume them regularly, but your energy and hormonal levels will be affected and this will influence how you look and feel.
Whatever your age or state of health, it’s never too late to reverse how quickly you are ageing and embrace the energy and vigour of a younger you.
Antioxidants, such as vitamins A, C, and E, are essential in neutralising free radicals—the culprits behind premature ageing.
Integrating a spectrum of colourful fruits and vegetables into your diet provides a potent source of antioxidants.
Omega-3 fatty acids, abundant in fatty fish like salmon and flaxseeds, are vital for maintaining skin elasticity and hydration.
Omega-3s act as nourishment for your skin, locking in moisture and diminishing fine lines and wrinkles.
Collagen, a structural protein dwindling with age, can be replenished through collagen-rich foods like bone broth and lean protein sources.
Not only were many beauty fans eager to try out the DIY solution, but others eagerly flocked to the comments to share their thoughts on the Botox in a Bottle solution.
One person said: “I’m 53 & nobody believes me, been using this for years.”
Another added: “This saved me from Botox!! My skin has never been better!!”
A third commented: “I use this mixture and loving it!”
Whilst someone else claimed: “It’s all I use. It’s magic.”
I’m a dog trainer – one of Britain’s most popular breeds considered the ‘Ford Focus’ of pets is a secret ‘bag of nerves’
FINDING the right pooch to join your family can be a tricky task.
You have to know if they’re good around children, how much training they need and how much exercise.

Fortunately, Iain and Jacob, two dog trainers from Yorkshire have made the process easier and shared their top dogs.
Speaking on the Caffeine and Canine podcast, the pair sat down to discuss which pooches they loved and which they would avoid.
Jacob said: “Today everyone, we’re playing Doggy Bingo.”
The game sees the pair get a breed called out and they have to say what they really think of each pooch.
And one that made the game was Britain’s favourite breed, the Labrador.
Jacob said it was the ‘Ford Focus’ of dogs, with Iain agreeing they were a ‘solid dog.’
Many people see the pooch as a reliable dog; they can be easy to train, great around children and other dogs, and love a snuggle.
However, Jacob admitted that while most are the gold-tier of dogs, they can go down to a bronze.
“They can be a bag of nerves too,” said Jacob.
Dog experts at I Heart Dogs say: “While Labrador Retrievers are mostly an easy going breed, they can definitely have anxiety.

“In fact, their ability to sense our moods and even if we are healthy or not might make them more prone to stress because they are highly attuned to their environment.”
You can tell when a Labrador is stressed with their body language and noises.
They may start to whine, and when stressed often tuck their tail underneath them.
Excessive lip licking and taking treats more aggressively than usual can also be signs.

Jacob added: They’re f***ing mad though aren’t they?”
“Until I was a dog trainer and actually you guys are pretty fun.”
“Gold tier for entertainment, but would you recommend one?” he asked Iain.
“Not for a novice,” replied Iain who said they can be quite nippy and need to be trained properly.
The PDSA says that the English Bull Terrier is a relatively easy breed to train however, owners should know they have very high energy levels so need to be kept entertained.

Before any changes, this morning will be a wet morning with “heavy” rainfall at times and showers most frequent in the west and northwest.
It will be windy once again in the southwest and breezy across the country with temperatures of 6C to 9C.
Tonight will be a cold night with temperatures to drop below freezing to -1C.
There is a chance of sleet and hail in some parts as those temperatures drop, particularly in the west and north where rain will also fall.
It will be cloudier in Munster with drizzle also expected in the region.
Frost and ice patches will develop as temperatures drop overnight with “mist and fog” patches also forming.
But despite cool conditions Wednesday will take a sunny turn with ” long spells of sunshine developing”.
However, still on the chiller said with highest temperatures of 5C to 8C.
Met Eireann’s Aoife Kealy said: “Things are going to be a lot quieter than they have been.
And looking to tomorrow she said: “Once any mist, fog and frost clears off tomorrow morning it is going to be a dry and bright day with long spells of sunshine”
She added: “It is going to be quite cools highs of 5C to 8C.”
Alan O’Reilly of Carlow Weather also issued a “good news” forecast.
He said: “Some very heavy falls of rain this morning as system pulls away and windy in Southwest. A mix of sunny spells and showers after this mornings rain ahead of a cold night tonight.
“Good news is Wednesday will be a much nicer day with good sunny spells and calmer.”
Wednesday night will be mainly dry with just scattered showers over Connacht and Ulster.
‘UNSETTLED TURN’
These could fall as sleet at times as temperatures drop to between -2C and 1C.
Thursday will be another dry run with just some isolated showers and cloud increasing throughout the day.
Then that night will see more patchy rain and cloud, however, a little warmer on Thursday night with 1C to 5C temperatures.
Friday and Saturday are when the weather returns to a more “unsettled” forecast.
However temperatures will pick up over the weekend.
Met Eireann said: “A milder, cloudier day with scattered patches of light rain and drizzle, though many areas will stay dry.
Highest temperatures of 8C to 11C in moderate southerly winds.
And more of the same on Saturday with cloud lingering and further outbreaks of rain and drizzle.
