Investigation into OnlyFans under-18s prevention measures dropped

WATCHDOG Ofcom has dropped an investigation into whether or not subscription site OnlyFans is doing enough to prevent under-18s accessing porn on the platform.

However, the regulator is continuing a probe into whether the site failed to provide it with complete and accurate information when requested.

Ofcom first opened the investigation in May last year.

At the time, OnlyFans said a “coding configuration issue” had led to a reporting error, which it had proactively amended with the watchdog once discovered.

“We are making no findings on these issues and, should further information come to light, reserve our right to reopen this investigation,” Ofcom said in its statement.

An OnlyFans spokesman said: “We welcome today’s decision from Ofcom.

“Since 2021, OnlyFans has used the Government-approved age-assurance provider Yoti to check that UK fans are over the age of 18.

“At all times OnlyFans’ age assurance was set to at least 20 years old.

“OnlyFans is, and has always been, confident that these measures are sufficient to meet our obligations to protect under-18s from accessing restricted material.”

‘How are players going to develop?’ – Stephen Kenny calls for major League of Ireland change to help ‘next Mason Melia’

STEPHEN KENNY believes Mason Melia has all the attributes to go all the way – but he is unsure if his seven-figure transfer fee is a watershed for the League of Ireland.

Melia, 17, this week agreed a deal that will see him swap St Patrick’s Athletic for Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur next January.

The transfer is delayed until after his 18th birthday because of Brexit rules but is a League of Ireland record fee, which is understood to be €2 million plus add-ons.

The striker, from Newtownmountkennedy, has long been tipped for greatness, and a big fee was expected once he agreed a three-year professional deal last year after turning 16.

But Kenny is unsure if his million-plus fee will lead to it becoming the norm as he pointed out that Melia is exceptional in every way.

St Patrick’s Athletic boss Kenny said: “The reason Mason was signed was because he played against Istanbul Basaksehir and international centre-halves, gave them a torrid night in Tallaght.

“And because he has gone away in Azerbaijan and played in the three rounds, six games and looked absolutely at home…

“Taken responsibility and played against Shamrock Rovers and played very well and against Shelbourne and did well.

“When you see players play at that level, Europa League level and you see that quality.

“And the chief scouts and the director of football at clubs look and see that there are very few 16 year olds in Europe playing at that level.

“You can go to Belgium and sometimes France and there are some 16 and 17 year olds playing. But they have been full-time in their system from 14 or 15.

“In other eras, the real elite, elite (Irish) centre forward of the international team would probably be in England at 16. Obviously, the advent of Brexit has changed that somewhat.

“It’s a bit unusual to have a 16-year-old centre forward leading the line in Azerbaijan, in Istanbul against experienced international defenders and doing well.”

Were it not for Melia’s performances in the top games, Kenny is unsure if the fee would be so high.

And he highlighted how the talented teenagers not ready for League of Ireland first team level are not getting the same development as they would in England or Europe.

Kenny added: “I am personally not hung up on the fee but I get the big picture and the symbolism of that.

“But certainly, it is interesting because we are in our infancy since Brexit with our young players.

“A lot of the players that came into the international team (Troy Parrott, Adam Idah et al) that you are fed up of me mentioning, 90 per cent of them went to England at 16.

“That’s not possible anymore, so how is the gap going to be filled? How are the players going to develop in that period?

“It wasn’t always successful, don’t forget, because we had that barren decade when not many players came through.

“There is a way for players to come through, like Mason playing in (a LOI) first team but he is a unique player.

“Not many squads in the Premier Division are going to have too many 16-year-olds in the first team. That’s not happening unless you have a developmental side.

“Is the under-20 league at a level? The pitches are not great.  I’ve been at some of the matches.  Not great facilities.

NEED FOR FACILITIES

“Doing two or three nights a week and people say it is good facilities, it is not really what you need. It does need creative thinking, I am not sure there is enough of it.

“We’ve taken four players from our Under-20s and sent them on loan to first division clubs, at Bray, Wexford, Finn Harps and one at Dundalk

“We have taken that approach as well as players come to the fore. So it is an issue as regards how players develop.

“There are some initiatives, with transition year schooling and that… it will be interesting to see what happens with that.”

But while Kenny reckons that few players will follow the route of a generational talent like Melia, he believes all young players should aspire to be like him.

He continued: “Mason is a great example for young players, because he has great humility.

“And he is very normal outside of his talent, a very normal young man and he carries himself really well.

“He hasn’t been caught up in all the other stuff around it, which can happen as well, lots of examples. So, he’s a grounded lad who has taken everything in his stride.

“When we were talking about hopes and ambitions for the team and in team meetings, it was only about what he could do this year for the team, it wasn’t about what was in the future.

“He has taken everything in his stride incredibly well, stepped up, stepped up, stepped up, anything asked of him. He has looked a class act.”

St Patrick’s Athletic ‘taking our time’ with Mason Melia as Stephen Kenny reveals ‘terms and conditions’ of Spurs move

MASON MELIA will see a full season at St Patrick’s Athletic next season as Stephen Kenny revealed there are terms and conditions of his record-breaking Tottenham Hotspur transfer.

Melia, 17, will join Spurs next January in deal worth almost €2 million to the Saints.

The Wicklow striker opted for Spurs while there was also interest from Everton, Chelsea, Celtic, Bologna and Hannover 96 amongst others.

He cannot move until next year as Brexit rules mean he cannot join a UK club until he turns 18, and Kenny confirmed there are no stipulations on Melia’s gametime in the meantime.

Kenny revealed: “There’s no criteria or nothing, we just really, we’ll just look forward to utilising him now.

“We always felt we probably would have him for this season but it was an inevitability we would lose him for the start of the next one.”

Melia featured 41 times last season and scored seven goals and is expected to play a big role this season as the Saints look to push for the title.

But Kenny acknowledged he may not start the season as he is a bit behind in pre-season as a back injury kept him out of training until recently.

The Saints gaffer confirmed: “He’s only back training now because he had a back issue, we had to give him a breather, he’s not been in full pre season.

“He’s only come back this week training, we have to take our time with him and make sure he’s right. He missed the end of last season.”

Derek Chisora reveals new rivalry with childhood pal Anthony Joshua despite pair never considering fighting each other

DEREK CHISORA loves Anthony Joshua too much to fight him – but he wants to flatten him at the school sports day.

The fearless 41-year-old warhorse adopted AJ as a little brother when he spotted him coming through Finchley ABC almost 20 years ago.

Joshua, now 35, was a tear-up loving teenage bricklayer teetering on the edge of a life of crime, while Chisora was a Zimbabwean mummy’s boy struggling to fit in anywhere.

The pair bonded and – despite incredible records of fighting almost all of the best giants of this era – have never entertained the idea of a mega-money fight between themselves.

But now Del’s 10-year-old daughter Angelina and the London 2012 legend’s heir JJ are at the some North London primary school, mentoring and compassion have been subbed off for teasing and competition.

Ahead of his 49th professional bout with Otto Wallin on Saturday, Chisora revealed: “I wind AJ up because our kids go to the same school and I tell him they’re organising a dads’ race for sports day.

“I call AJ and say, ‘It’s sports day – make sure you’re coming!’ I’m serious.

“He hasn’t been for the last few but I say, ‘Bro, it’s sports day, you’re coming’.”

A fleet of luxury cars belonging to the British ring heroes, as well as JLS star Marvin Humes and comedian David Walliams, drop their kids off to the same posh school.

It’s unlikely any of the sporting icons or celebrities use the local bus service.

CASINO SPECIAL – BEST CASINO BONUSES FROM £10 DEPOSITS

But 18st hulk Chisora reckons the parents could be in for a shock if they spot him or his boxing-addicted protege hanging about for public transport near the school gates.

“Boxing is an addictive sport,” he said with his 50th and final fight looming. I don’t care what you say – it’s a drug sport, it’s like heroin.

“You go to the amateur gym for the first time and all of a sudden you’re waiting for the bus shadow boxing.

“And people say, ‘What the f*** is wrong with you?’ Every fighter does it, all the greatest fighters do it.

“You know who the biggest shadow boxer in the world is? Anthony Joshua.

“That mother f***er cannot have a conversation without jumping up and shadow boxing and I’m the same around my house.

“People wonder what the f*** we are doing and tell us just to chill out.”

Another thing the North London pair have in common is decision defeats to Ukraine’s undisputed heavyweight king Oleksandr Usyk.

Oleksandr Usyk ‘gives PTSD’

The 38-year-old Brit basher knocked Tony Bellew spark out, outpointed Chisora, left AJ in tears after back-to-back schoolings, broke Daniel Dubois with a jab and just retired Tyson Fury with two dominant displays.

There is something utterly maverick about the God-fearing gap-toothed southpaw, who wears a giant Greek Orthodox cross under his latest Stone Island jumper.

And, after 12 hard rounds and a couple of London sauna sessions together, Chisora can explain it better than anyone.

“That Ukrainian guy gives you PTSD,” he said

“He made my young brother cry on the stage, he made Tyson Fury retire. Nobody can deal with him.

“I sat down with him a couple of weeks ago. I asked him where he lives now, he said: ‘Ukraine. Yesterday my security told me to go in the bomb shelter but I said ‘no’. Rockets are flying past my house but me, I sleep’.

“When he’s telling me this story, I ask myself, ‘What do you have to have to beat him?’ The guy is lying down and rockets are flying past his house.

“While you’re in your big house in Knightsbridge where the only problem you have is taxis beeping outside your door. How do you beat a guy like that? You have to have craziness.”

How AJ punched his way to the top

ANTHONY JOSHUA punched his way to the top of the world before being knocked off his perch.

From humble origins in Watford to Olympic hero, the boxer has made a heavyweight impact in and out of the ring.

Eddie Hearn claims a collision with rival Tyson Fury could be worth a whopping £200million.

The pair’s bitter feud saw them refuse to say a word to each other as they met Cristiano Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia.

Joshua has already hinted at when he will hang up his gloves.

And he revealed why his son will NEVER be allowed to box. despite amassing a £215m empire thanks to the sweet science.

AJ enjoys a lavish lifestyle including private jets and a £350k watch.

His career and sponsorship deals have seen him swap his council estate upbringing for a luxury car collection.

London hairdresser Kika Osunde is believed to have swept the KO king off his feet.

But Joshua still lives with his mum Yeta when he is not on the road.
