How did the ODM gear come to be? What was the true origin of the Titan powers? How did the world end up in another war after Eren’s death? Attack on Titan might have concluded in 2023, but the curiosity remains. Hajime Isayama established a simple idea and continued to build the lore upon it.

Up until the final episodes, we still had shocking plot twists coming our way. The mangaka incorporated many different ideas and drew a vivid picture of world history. However, it seems realistically impossible to explore every event and still end up with a narrative as coherent as Attack on Titan.
This makes spin-offs the perfect way out. There are countless possibilities for potential spin-offs that could expand the AOT universe organically. Fans on Reddit shared a long list of ideas that would be perfect for more exploration; however, it might not be as easy as it sounds.
No dearth of ideas when it comes to the cinematic universe of Attack on Titan

The story in Attack on Titan concluded with the Survey Corps putting an end to the war. They killed Eren and stopped the Rumbling. Hajime Isayama showed us a glimpse of the distant future and how the world ended up warring again. With that, there’s a faint idea of the future. However, there are some plotlines from the history of Attack on Titan that are yet to be fully explored, as fans on Reddit pointed out.
Isayama still has stories to tell

The Tragedy of Lago and the Great Titan War shaped the Marleyan history, or that’s what we’ve been told. Fans suspect that just like many other revelations, these events have also been told in manipulative ways by Marley. This makes them even more intriguing. Fans had some more interesting spin-off ideas as well.

The invention of the ODM gear, the history of the Ackermans, and the Great Titan War were some other ideas that popped up during the discussion. The invention of the ODM gear is by far the most interesting idea, although it could get a bit too technical. Similarly, the history of the Ackermans seems to be the most entertaining to be explored.
There’s another possibility where we could get an exploration of the world beyond Marley and Paradis Island. Irrespective of how many possibilities there are, it might be a little difficult to get anything beyond what we already have.
Here’s why an expansion of Attack on Titan might not work
When it comes to the unexplored nations of the Attack on Titan world, it might not work simply because of the ending. The ending has already restricted how much the world can be expanded. If there were prominent figures or nations, they would have resisted the Rumbling in some ways.

We’ll need a new set of characters, and if they’re just going to die without playing a key role in the main events, their story will simply be too plain to follow. Moreover, Hajime Isayama has expressed his disinterest in spin-offs in the past, which somewhat completely rules out the possibility of getting any in the future.
Attack on Titan is available to read on the K Manga app and website.
