President John Dramani Mahama has charged newly sworn-in Inspector General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno with the responsibility of rooting out corruption within the Ghana Police Service.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony at the Jubilee House, Mahama emphasized that corruption in law enforcement weakens public trust and undermines justice.
“Mr. IGP, your role will also involve rooting out corruption within the service,” he stated.
The president further urged the new police chief to take decisive action against all forms of misconduct, including bribery and abuse of power, stressing the need for integrity in policing.
“It is crucial that all forms of unethical behavior, from bribery to the abuse of power, are decisively dealt with,” Mahama added.
The appointment of IGP Yohuno marks a leadership shift in the police service, with expectations for enhanced transparency and accountability.
