However, Elaine has admitted that pursuing a career in acting has always been her “dream”.

In a recent interview with RSVP Magazine, she said: “I had my eye on the screen but not necessarily the small screen.

“From the age of nine I wanted to be an actor, that was my dream, I did all the drama exams but my dad wasn’t too keen on me doing it in college so I did a degree in film and broadcasting so it was a cunning plan, I was going to cast myself in movies I directed.

“But then I got working in radio and got bitten by the radio bug and then ended up in broadcasting. But acting was my first love and I still practise my Oscar speech in the mirror at home.”

The Cork native has now revealed that, after a difficult few years, she is ready to make her return to acting this summer.

She said: “At this point in my life, you never know what the future is going to bring, the world is so chaotic at the moment. I feel like we’re all in some dystopian nightmare with what’s going on in the States, the war in the Ukraine, Palestine.

“I am not putting off anything I want to do anymore and I will never do it again. So I have been cast in a feature film, would you believe?

“It is called Hitched and it is based on a book by Caroline Grace Cassidy called Bride Squad . It is not a main part or anything, but I will be speaking in it, I am going to be a Guard from Cork.”

Although the dates aren’t confirmed yet, Elaine said that filming may start “next summer or within the next year”.

The TV star recently looked out of this world as she stepped out in a “fabulous” red carpet look.

The Ireland AM host attended the 22nd annual IFTA Awards at Dublin‘s Royal Convention Centre.

The popular presenter stepped out in some jaw-dropping pieces from Irish luxury fashion brand AndTate.

She donned a unique black blouse that featured a large, wide collar, sheer mesh sleeves and a wrap-around closure.

FAB FIT

Elaine opted to pair the incredible piece with a black full-length maxi ball gown skirt.

The TV star finished off her red carpet look with a pair of drop down earrings from Melissa Curry Design.

She wore her hair tied back and donned a fabulous full glam makeup look.

The 47-year-old captioned her post: “Celebrating the best in Irish film and drama last night at @iftaacademy awards. #ifta2025 wearing all Irish designs. #irishdesign #supportirishbusiness.”

Elaine’s fans and friends all flocked to the comment section to share their love for her look.
