Syria’s interim government has started a national dialogue with political parties to shape country’s future. President Ahmed Al-Sarra urged unity for the nation’s progress. In a significant move European Union suspended several sanctions on Syria’s economic sector.
Dialogue held as scheduled, brought together various political parties. President Al-Sarra, leading the interim government, opened the discussions. Reaffirming his commitment to democratic transition, he called for national solidarity. He also emphasized that Syria would maintain full control over all weapons.
“We fought for our freedom. Now, we must rebuild Syria together. This is a historic opportunity. Every moment should be dedicated to the people and country. We must honor the sacrifices of our martyrs,” he stated.

To support Syria’s reconstruction EU eased sanctions on the energy, transport, and banking sectors. Previously EU had imposed restrictions on Bashar Al-Assad’s government during the civil war. New administration, led by opposition figures, had been pushing for sanction relief.
