Anthony Mackie ranks Sebastian Stan as the least talented scene partner below Chris Evans and Danny Ramirez. He had his own reasons to rank his best buddy lower than the other two. Mackie jokingly mentioned how Stan has got everything now from awards glory to a new girlfriend.

Stan and Mackie’s dynamic became iconic in Captain America: Civil War, leading to the pair getting a separate series of their own. After The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Mackie received his own Captain America movie in the MCU, while Stan joined Florence Pugh, David Harbour, and others in Thunderbolts*.
Anthony Mackie explains why Sebastian Stan isn’t a talented scene partner

Anthony Mackie shared the screen with Chris Evans in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and its sequel Captain America: Civil War. He teamed up with Sebastian Stan‘s Bucky in Civil War and Danny Ramirez’s Falcon in Captain America: Brave New World. When he appeared on Hot Ones alongside Ramirez, he was asked to rank the three of them as Captain America scene partners.
Mackie had to rank them in the order of most talented to the least talented. And the Altered Carbon actor chose an interesting way to rank these actors. Out of respect for Evans and the appeal he has among fans, Mackie ranked everyone’s favorite Avengers hero to be the most talented scene partner.
He then chose his new partner in the new film, Ramirez, as the second one on the list, effectively placing his best buddy Stan at the bottom. Mackie had the most hilarious response when he named Stan as the least talented scene partner among the trio. He shared:
F*ck Sebastian Stan. He’s got a Golden Globe, an Oscar nomination, a new girlfriend… He’s got everything!
While it is hilarious, it is also Mackie’s appreciation for Stan for all the achievements he made in the past year. 2024 was one of the best years in his career for Stan. He played a man with neurofibromatosis in A Different Man and later portrayed a young Donald Trump in The Apprentice. The former brought him a Best Actor award glory at the 82nd Golden Globes.
Stan earned nominations for The Apprentice at the Golden Globes, BAFTAs, and the Academy Awards. Stan and his girlfriend Annabelle Wallis of Peaky Blinders fame made their red carpet debut as a couple at the Golden Globes Awards this year.
Sebastian Stan missed working with Anthony Mackie

Despite a fantastic year for his career, Sebastian Stan shared that it was a relatively quiet year because of not working with Anthony Mackie. During his appearance on Variety’s Awards Circuit podcast, Stan opened up about his next Marvel film, Thunderbolts*, and about how he missed working with Mackie.
When asked if he would make an appearance in Captain America: Brave New World, Stan shared that he didn’t get to work with Mackie this year. He begrudgingly admitted that he missed Mackie on a daily basis. Stan told Variety‘s Awards Circuit podcast:
[Filming] Thunderbolts*, let me tell you, it was a much quieter year for me because I didn’t see Anthony Mackie. So, I’ll say that. Although I miss Anthony Mackie like daily, and it’s something I don’t like to admit.
However, it isn’t entirely true as Sebastian Stan appeared in an uncredited cameo role in the new Captain America film. He shared that he was excited to be part of Marvel’s new anti-hero team. He shared that it is Marvel’s version of The Breakfast Club, a story about a group of misfits.
Stan shared, “It’s a weird group thrown together, and I think people are going to love it.” Thunderbolts*, helmed by Jake Schreier, will arrive in theaters on May 2, 2025.
