Anne was just a year younger than Miriam and they both gave birth to their second daughters, Clara and Lizzie, around the same time.

Miriam took to Instagram today to post a heart-melting throwback of herself and Anne holding their babies.

The 65-year-old got emotional as she wrote the caption saying: “Today is my adored sister Anne’s anniversary – she died aged 33 from cancer. Hard to believe it’s 30 years.

“This is my favourite photo of us both, wrecked new mums holding our baby daughters.

“The only happy part of all of this is that those two little cousins are now best friends.”

Miriam’s friends and fans all loved the sweet picture and flooded the comment section with love and support.

Sarah McInerney said: “That’s a beautiful photo Miriam.”

Anna Daly commented: “Sending love Miriam.”

Barbara wrote: “This is haunting and beautiful at the same time. Anne was so young. I’m so sorry you both deserved many more years together.”

Kate remarked: “Can’t believe it’s 30 years. I remember Anne had the most beautiful smile. Thinking of you and your lovely family.”

Anne’s daughter Lizzie is a producer at Piranha Bar and was nominated for an IFTA recently.

Miriam accompanied her niece at the glamorous event and gushed over how proud she was of her.

The popular presenter shared a stunning photo of them on the red-carpet together on Instagram.

She captioned her post: “It was joyous to be at the @iftaacademy awards last night which was a brilliant show, with my beloved niece @lizziejayyy a nominee with @piranhabar_insta as VFX producers on the Netflix series Bodkin.

I love Lizzie to the moon and back and her mum would have been so proud last night.

The RTE Radio 1 presenter is mum to eight kids – four girls with her first husband Tom McGurk and four boys with her current husband Steve Carson.

FAMILY TRIP

Miriam travelled to Washington last November to cover the US election for RTE.

During her trip to the states, Miriam got the chance to reunite with her daughters Georgia and Alannah.

Georgia works for sport and entertainment platform BSE Global in New York and Alannah has extended her holiday for the family reunion.

In an interview with the Irish Mail on Sunday, Georgia revealed that they are all “so excited” to see each other.

She said: “Mum didn’t find out till quite last minute, so the three of us are so excited. We have a WhatsApp group talking about it.”

As well as being on hand for any support the team might need, the two girls will get to watch their mum behind the camera.

Georgia added: “[It’s] so nice for us to be able to be a part of that and share that moment with Mum, but also to see her in action.

“[If she] needs a hand or resources or runners, we’ll be there. I don’t know how much access we’re going to get, but we’ll be there watching her doing her thing. We’re always super proud of her in those moments.”
