Marvel Rivals’ Latest Clone Event Exposes a Massive Problem That NetEase Needs to Address

To keep things exciting and diverse, Marvel Rivals recently released a new limited-time event: Clone Rumble. For the first few days, the mode received a rave review from players, who were enjoying the fun and chaotic twist on the game’s usual gameplay.

However, as time went on, players started to notice some glaring issues with the event. The issue? A random hero selection process that ultimately narrows the choices down to just a handful of overly picked characters, leaving players bored and desperate for variety.

When Clone Rumble first launched, it seemed like the perfect opportunity for players to enjoy some lighthearted, chaotic fun. Just seeing entire teams of identical heroes running around the battlefield produced some hilarious moments, for sure.

However, as with many things in gaming, when the novelty of the event wore off, various issues with the mode began to show their ugly heads. The real problem with the event is how hero selection works.

Instead of allowing players to pick from a wide variety of available characters, Clone Rumble has narrowed the hero pool down to just a handful of common picks. These heroes are getting picked over and over, and it doesn’t take long for the repetition to kill the fun.

The mode has become so predictable that players are surprised to see other heroes instead of common picks. Due to this repetitiveness, players are frustrated and don’t want to do this event again unless changes are made.

Honestly, I hope Clone Rumble as a game mode DOESN’T come back.

Players are calling out for a change and NetEase needs to implement a solution to address the problem as quickly as possible. Otherwise, the variety and excitement the mode was supposed to provide is nowhere to be seen.

So what can NetEase do to fix Clone Rumble and bring the fun back to this mode? The answer is simple: instead of selecting the heroes, players should simply ban heroes they don’t want to play.

With a ban system, players would be able to eliminate the heroes they find repetitive or uninteresting. After the bans are in place, the remaining heroes could then be selected for play.

This simple change would immediately address the problem of the limited hero pool. Instead of being forced into the same handful of heroes, players could enjoy a broader selection, leading to more variety in the gameplay.

If a ban system is not good enough, the studio should pick the heroes randomly (instead of allowing players to pick heroes), giving each team 2 random heroes to pick from. This way, players will get random heroes with the added element of surprise.

In the end, if any of these solutions get implemented, Clone Rumble could evolve into a much more dynamic and enjoyable mode, offering players the fun and chaotic experience the studio originally intended, without the repetitiveness.
