A MAN in his 20s has tragically been killed following a horror three-car collision in Galway.
Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene in Barna, Co Galway follow reports of a crash involving three cars.
The incident occurred last night on the R336 at around 11.25pm.
The driver of one of the cars, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body has been removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Galway.
A post-mortem examination is expected to take place at a later time.
Gardai confirmed there have been no other injuries following the crash.
A garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to a collision involving three cars on the R336 at approximately 11:25pm.
“The driver of one of the cars, a male in his 20s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
“His body was removed from the scene to the mortuary at University Hospital Galway, where a post-mortem examination is due to take place.
“There were no other injuries reported.”
The road between Barna and Furbp remains closed off this morning as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators carry out an examination.
Gardai say local diversions are now in place as drivers are advised to take the N59 route.
Gardai are appealing for any witnesses to the crash to come forward with information.
They are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who may have camera footage, including dash cams.
Anyone who was travelling in the area at the time of the crash are asked to make themselves known to Gardai.
