DAVY FITZGERALD has lashed any suggestion Antrim aimed to pull a sickie for Sunday’s crunch NHL Division 1B clash with Laois and insists they will fulfil the fixture.
It emerged on Wednesday that a virus outbreak in the Saffrons’ squad put their ability to field a team in jeopardy — which would have given Laois a walkover and relegated Antrim to Division 2.

Fitzgerald’s side are currently sixth out of seven in the 1B table with just Sunday’s match left, while Laois are a point behind them but with two games in hand.
A host of Fitzgerald’s players are on the mend for their last-ditch survival bid at Corrigan Park and he told the BBC: “There are no mind games here. I have heard some stupid things out there.
“The doctor can confirm the number of people who were down with the virus.
“We expect to be ready. and it to be a really competitive game with nothing in it. We’re going to be going at 100 per cent.”
