Stephen King can easily be considered the king of the horror genre, having written several chilling stories. His novels are filled with eerie and unforgettable details and characters. But what many might not know is that one of the scariest villains in IT was actually inspired by someone from Star Wars.

This character was none other than Mrs. Kersh, and while both movies are quite different from one another, the author has a very special Star Wars connection that he used to name the IT villain.
How Star Wars inspired one of the most scariest IT villains out there?
When it comes to crafting some of the most eerie and scary books out there, Stephen King reigns supreme. King has penned some of the most terrifying stories out there and can easily be one of the most celebrated authors of our time. But out of all his books, IT would definitely be one of the most chilling stories out there, with characters that can truly scare the living daylights out of someone.

And in this, Mrs. Kersh can be the front-runner with her storyline, and apparently, she also has a special Star Wars connection that many might not be aware of. While both of the projects have nothing in common as one is about a shape-shifting entity terrorizing a small town, and the other is a sci-fi epic set in a far, far away galaxy.
But there’s definitely a connection between the two, and it all comes down to the legendary director of The Empire Strikes Back, Irvin Kershner.
As reported by Screen Rant, the author got the chance to visit the set of The Empire Strikes Back while he was in the area during the filming of Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining. During this, he met Kershner, who was lovingly called “Kersh” by the production crew. As a tribute to him, King later named the character Mrs. Kersh.
Though this might not be very obvious at first, it does add an interesting element for both Star Wars and IT fans.
The reason why Matthew McConaughey rejected Marvel for a Stephen King movie
Matthew McConaughey is one of the most sought-after actors in Hollywood, with several hits to his name. His popularity started gaining major momentum in the 2000s, and he became the go-to actor for every director out there. Evidently, even Marvel came knocking on his door to play Ego in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

But instead of this, he chose to participate as the Man in Black in The Dark Tower. This was written by Stephen King and proved to be one of the biggest misfires of his career.
At the time, Guardians of the Galaxy was already a great success, but the actor was not interested in stepping into an already established franchise. He touched upon the same subject during an interview via The Independent and added that he didn’t want to feel like “an amendment” in a series that had already found its footing.
The Dark Tower, on the other hand, gave him a chance to build a character from the ground up. But while the book was a huge hit among the masses, the movie failed to do justice to the source material. As a result, it was torn apart by critics, and his gamble to reject a Marvel movie didn’t pay off.
